No Contest

I sit and wonder why, Lord
Do people not choose thee
When they hear you’ve paid the price
From sin to set them free

Down here they feel so happy
And they think it’s the best
But if they just choose you today.
They would be richly blessed

In this life they party
Thinking all of life’s a game
If you would fill them with your joy
They’d never be the same

And when the party’s over
And the happiness is gone
They sit their all alone and wonder
When some peace will come

But I can tell them truly
That the peace that Jesus gives
Will permeate  their soul each day
As long as they shall live

You ask me how I know these things
So I’ll tell you here and now
‘Twas not that long ago my friend
That I refused to bow

I loved the party life at night
But hated waking up
My mind was filled with torment
My thoughts were so corrupt

It took at least 10 times
For me to head His call
But when I did, He kept His word
And gave to me His all

He blesses me each day
With His presence,  oh so sweet
He fills my heart with joy
Happiness just can’t compete

His peace is so remarkable
It soothes me every day
And His love is unforgettable
He walks along my way

But most of all His mercy
Is always reaching me
And His grace is so amazing
As it works to keep me free

You see it really is no contest
What the best life is
So why not turn your life around
And make your heart be His.

The Hope of Heaven

It may seem far away to you

So your not in any hurry

Your lie is going on just fine

So you don’t need to worry

But Jesus said the hour is near

And no one knows the day

That He will come with trumpet sound

To take His own away

So if you don’t know Him as your Lord

It’s urgent that you ask Him

To come into your heart today

If you ask, He’ll come in

And you will have that peace of  mind

That you are not alone

He’ll give you hope for all of time

And heaven will be your home

Mercy Falls

Spring time showers bringing life

Raindrops splashing through the night

Storm clouds billow up so tall

Like the raindrops, mercy falls

Our great God is oh so wise

Mercy keeps us all alive

Through his endless, boundless love

He desires us all above

Winter cold is drawing near

North wind chill that you can hear

Snow is swirling in the air

Like the snowflake, mercy falls

Our great God the seasons made

This His promise does remain

Mercy is His promise too

It will come and rescue you

Mercy falls, oh praise His name

Mercy falls, our lives are changed

His great love reaches to all

Oh what joy when Mercy falls

Touch The Lord

I see the Lord

Most every day

He’s right beside me

As I pray

He walks with me

Along the way

He’s everywhere I go

When I see someone

Steeped in pain

I see the Lord

Inside of Him

I go and pray

That health would win

And I have touched my Lord

If someone’s feeble

In their home

And I go visit

When their alone

They brighten up

That someone comes

And I have touched my Lord

Jesus said that when we touch

One of His children, him we touch

He asks us to go out of our way

To make a difference in the world today

If one’s in prison

For their crime

And I go visit

And give my time

It cheers them up

They glad I came

And I have touched my Lord

Do you see Jesus

As you walk

In other people

In the park

He’s right there

Inside their heart

Waiting for a touch

Open your eyes

To others needs

And soon you’ll see

Their needs are real

It’s up to you

To help them heal

Your time to touch the Lord

Subdued and Contemplative

Sometimes i sit quietly

And think about my life

Subdued and contemplative

In awe of Jesus Christ

How He took this poor lost sinner

And He gave me a new wife

Then some children and some grands

In a wonderful new life

He also took my sins away

And washed me up snow white

And He asked me to go out

And share His wondrous light

He’s given me a purpose

And He gives me Spirit sight

To find those that are hungry

And are struggling in their life

Sometimes I sit and wonder

Why my God would rescue me

Subdued and contemplative

I bow down on my knee

And I thank my Lord and Savior

For the life He’s given me

What an awesome God he is

And will forever bez

How Excellent Are Your Ways

Oh God, how excellent are your ways

You have been God since before the foundation of the world

You spoke and the earth was formed

The waters and the earth gathered together at your word

At the sound of your voice the earth brought forth trees and greenery

The sun and the moon appeared at your command, and you placed the stars in space

Then you created all the animals, on the ground, in the sea, and the birds and insects

Then you made man out of the dust of the ground

You gave him dominion over all that you have made

And you said it was all good

And you rested

Oh God, my God, how excellent are your ways

Still today you watch over your creation

You bring the rain in due season

The thunder blasts and the lightning crashes at your command

The sky clears and the rainbow appears to remind us of your promise

You bring the crops to maturity and the farmers bring in the harvest

The harvest you have provided

You turn the trees to brilliant colors in the cool fall air

We marvel at the beauty of your creation

Oh God, my God how excellent are your ways in all the earth

You still love man despite the way he has failed you

You still see him as the crowning jewel of your creation

You cry out to him to turn back to your word

Because you know what is best for your creation

Help us Lord, to turn to you

Help us to follow your word

Help us to pray for our nation

You have been so good to us while we have turned our backs on you

Forgive our nation, Lord, for our transgressions

Hear our plea for healing and restoration

Renew us in your word, and clothe us with your Holy Spirit

Let your love arise in our hearts as we worship you

Let the church rise and carry out your word

That we should humble ourselves,

And pray,

And seek your face,

And turn from our wicked ways

Because then, and only then

Will you hear from heaven

And forgive our sins

And heal our Land.

Oh God, my God, How excellent are your ways in all the earth.

Help Me, Lord

I’m guilty

Guilty as anyone

And I must confess right now

I’m guilty

Of judging people from what I perceive

When they are different in

Speech

Size

Shape

Color

Hairstyle

Ethnicity

Mannerisms

I see different

And I make an assessment

And it usually them less than myself

Oh, foolish pride

That would put me above others

Help me, Lord

Help to see past their

Speech

Size

Shape

Color

Hairstyle

Ethnicity

Mannerisms

Help me to see their heart

Help me to see them as equal,

Or even better

Than myself

Because most probably are

Help me not to judge

But to love

Unconditionally

Everyone I meet

Help me, Lord

Put aside preconceived prejudices

And notions

Help me, Lord

To see the heart

Lending the Light

A birthday cake is always fun

When children are involved

Their faces will light up the room

As the we sing a familiar song

The candle count goes with their years

They are lit and shining bright

The light reflects in the child’s eyes

As they blow them out of sight

But much more important is the light

That my candle shines each day

The love of Jesus in my heart

Must show others the way

And I must guard real closely

That it never gets blown out

Because that child depends on me

To know what God’s about

Keep your candle burning

Let it always lend it’s light

To those who need a Savior

Let it shine both day and night

A Little Smoother Now

I used to be clumsy with speech

I’d juggle and mess up my words

I liked to talk

And I wouldn’t balk

At saying things really absurd

I joined a group called Toastmasters

They taught me to speak really well

I now had a voice

And made the right choice

Of which words to use – it is swell!

Now I can speak so much smoother

I can share what’s important to me

The Lord Jesus Christ

Has transformed my life

And He wants to set you free!

All

All to thee, my Savior

All to thee I give

I will lift my praise to you

As long as I shall live

All for you, my Savior

All my works for you

Everything I do on earth

Your glory will show through

All you ask, my Savior

All you ask of me

I will listen closely

Your voice is what I seek

And when the day is done

When the sun has gone to rest

I will lift my voice in song

So God will be most blessed

I’ll sing Hallelujah, Praise Him

Lift Hosannas to the sky

Praise and adoration

To the Lord most high

I’ll sing Holy is the Lord of Hosts

He’s the King of Kings

Glory to the Lamb of God

Lord of Everything

All my praise to you Lord

All my praise I give

I will worship you, my God

As long as I shall live
