Christmas Eve Prayer

 It’s Christmas Eve
 The day before
 We celebrate
 The newborn Lord

 I hope all is well
 With you today
 Have you asked Him
 Your life to save

 When Jesus came
 That fateful night
 That baby boy
 Brought with Him light

 A light that shines
 In all our hearts
 To bring the life
 His love imparts

 A life that’s filled
 With heavens peace
 Enduring hope
 Joys never cease

 His promise came
 When He was born
 Salvation brought
 That Christmas morn

 My prayer this day
 For all of you
 Is season filled
 With life that’s full

 That you will find
 Salvation’s way
 On this December
 Christmas Day

My Christmas Gift

I searched for a gift this Christmas
A gift I could give to all
It would have to be inexpensive
 And hopefully rather small

I shopped on the net for days
 And nothing seemed quite right
So I went to some stores in the city
And I looked for several nights

But the perfect gift was elusive
Nothing I saw seemed to fit
I started to think it was hopeless
But then found the perfect gift

It was free to any who wanted
It was small, so I’d keep it in hand
It was easy to give out to others
I decided that this fit the plan

This gift didn’t need to be wrapped up
And it wasn’t some cute little toy
All I had to do was give it
The recipient would have much joy

 I’m giving Jesus this Christmas
I’m telling my friends of His love
I’m sharing with them His salvation
And His mercy that rains from above

I’ll share with them the Christmas story
And the Easter story as well
They will hear how much He loves them
They’ll be touched by the story I tell

This gift will last them a lifetime
 And they’ll live for eternity
Safe in the arms of the Savior
 Forever they will be free

This Christmas give all a present
That will last for the rest of time
 Give everyone Jesus
And give them the gift of life.

He Protects Me

I never will forget the day I found you
Fifteen hundred miles away from home
 The preacher made me realize
That I was headed for the fire
I knew that place was not where I should go

Later on that week the preacher stopped by
The house where I was staying with a friend
We prayed the prayer of faith
I’m glad He came that day
For the next day I’d return back home again

I prayed that he’d forgive me of my sin
That He would wash me thoroughly within
 A sweat built up inside
It drenched me like a tide
I had no doubt that I had been redeemed

The next day I struck out to go back home
The drive was long and filled with many tears
 My tire was wobbling bad
 And  I was driving fast
I just wanted to get home and did not fear

When I got home I checked with my mechanic
He looked and said I can’t believe you made it
This care should not be driven
Your tire will soon be missing
A tie rod underneath is loose and split

My mind just started thinking of my Savior
And how He rescued me that day from death
Not just a death of soul
But He spared my life I know
If that tire had came off I would be dead

Jesus  comes to wash my sins away
Then He protects me every single day
So I will lift His name
And give Him all my praise
I know that He will guide my on my way

Music To My Ears

When I think about the fact
That He left His royal throne
I can’t help but praise His name
When I think about the fact
In a stable He was born
I can’t help but praise His name
When I think about the star
That led the wise men there
 And the great angelic choir
That the shepherds saw in fear
When I think about His love
To become a babe so dear
I can’t help but praise His name

Bless His name.  His mighty name
The name of Jesus is so sweet and so fair
Bless His name.  The matchless name
The name of Jesus is music to my ears

When I think about the fact
He bore the stripes for me
I can’t help but praise His name
When I think about the fact
That He died to set me free
I can’t help but praise His name
When I think about the pain
 That He endured for me
How He gave His life for all
 That day at Calvary
When I think about the grace
That He poured out for me
I can’t help but praise His name

Bless His name.  His mighty name
The name of Jesus is so sweet and so fair
Bless His name.  The matchless name
The name of Jesus is music to my ears

 I’ll sing His praise
 Every day
 With Loudest voice
 And hands up-raised
 I’ll lift Him high
 With all my might
 The wondrous name
 Of Jesus

Bless His name.  His mighty name
The name of Jesus is so sweet and so fair
Bless His name.  The matchless name
The name of Jesus is music to my ears

My Guiding Light

All of my life I have been searching for someone to help me out
All of my days are spent in wandering about
All of my trials and temptations don’t lead me anywhere
I have not figured out why I am here

I have looked to drugs and alcohol to bring me some relief
But they only added to me sense of grief
I had money, I was wealthy, I had riches and much fame
But life only seemed to be a tiresome game

Then I found the Lord or He found me
And He told me what I was made to be
A child of God and forever free
Now He’s here walking with me

 Jesus is my guiding light
Jesus is my help at night
Jesus is the one who saved my soul
 From the depths below

Now I choose to walk with Him and He shows me the way
His love shadows over me each day
I have given everything to follow in His past
Because I know it will last

I know the Lord and he knows me
All that I do and all that I see
I pray that He will help me be
All that He has desired for me

 Jesus is my guiding light
Jesus is my help at night
Jesus is the one who saves my soul
 From the depths below

My Part

 I often sit and wonder,
In my quiet little place –
If this love will last forever,
And a smile comes on my face.

Again, this is so different –
 The feelings are immense,
My first life has been spent
 Without question of expense.

I can feel his love so deeply
In my heart throughout the day,
And I know that I will always be
 Walking in his Holy way.

And I truly thank you Lord of all
 For the love you bring within;
I have heard your true and Holy call,
 I will never turn again.

You fill my life with joy
In a world where I was lost,
 I no longer feel that I’m a boy –
 I’m a man; I’ve paid the cost.

 Now Jesus lives within me,
And a love does fill my heart
That I wish to share with all of you
 To fulfill my rightful part.

(Note: This poem was written back in 2002 and never posted. The Lord led me to this today and said to post it for you.)

Life Abundantly

I can’t explain this peace that washes over me
Every time a troubled sea is in my soul
It seems I put my trust in Him to guide me safely home
Because I know my God is in control

I can’t explain this joy that brings a smile to my face
When tribulation rears its ugly head
I know that He will teach me of His wondrous grace
And everything will work out for my good

I can’t explain this hope that says I’m bound for heaven
I’ve put my faith in Jesus Christ
He promised He was building me a mansion home
A place to dwell through my eternal life

I can’t explain the love that God has shown to me
His wondrous plan I didn’t even know
He gave His son to die for me amidst my sinful ways
Remove them all and wash me white as snow

Even though I can’t explain it still I know it’s true
That God became a sacrifice tor me and you
If there is just one thing you really need to do
Is call upon His name and He will pardon you

Your sin was nailed to His cross on calvary
Forgiveness He has spoken hanging on that tree
He rose again and to show us His great victory
Come before the Lord and pray with me

Father forgive me. Father I have sinned
Father take my life. Give me joy within
I now make you Lord of my life today
Come and show me your precious ways

If you prayed that prayer now you have life abundantly
The Son of God has saved your soul today
I pray you’ll go to church and read your Bible more
So God can lead you safely on your ay

Forever I Am Yours

I don’t know why you love me Lord
But you do.  Yes, you do
I don’t know why you love me
 But you do.

I’m not a model citizen for heaven
So many things I don’t deserve
Yet you have given me your mercy
 You’ve given me a heart that’s pure

The love you’ve shown me has saved me
From every trial that I might face
By faith I’ll follow in your footsteps
I know I’ll never lose your grace

I don’t know why you saved me Lord
But you did.  Yes you did.
I don’t know why you saved me Lord
 But you did

I know you’ve called me out of darkness
So I can show the world your holy light
I pray my life will be a witness
 Of your redeeming sacrifice

You took on the stripes, the curses of man
The crown on your head and the nails in your hands
You carried your cross to calvary’s hill
You gave up your life so I could be filled
 With your love.  Hallelujah
 Hallelujah.  Hallelujah

I don’ know why you love me
But you do.  I know you do
I don’t know why you saved me
But you did.  Oh Yes, you did
Your love has saved me forever
Your love has saved me forever
Your love has saved me forever
Forever I am your, forever I am yours!

Today

Yesterday I was lost
My soul was bound for hell
Then Jesus came along
And released me from my cell

Tomorrow I’ll be with Him
In heavenly places above
He’s building me a mansion
Since He saved me with His love

Today I’m going to praise Him
For all that he has done
Today I’ll worship His sweet name
For the future that will come

For all that He has promised me
Boils down to just today
So this day I’ll make the most of it
And lift His holy name

Why do we go about thinking we can get something done tomorrow?  Has God promised us tomorrow?  Do you know something that I don’t about the future?  Because from what I read, God ahs only promised us that we have this present moment.  He can call us home any time.  He can take our faster than the blink of an eye.  He can have chariots come down from heaven and whisk us away if He wants to.  But I go about thinking I can press on toward the mark tomorrow.  I think I can have my time of prayer tomorrow, that I can [praise Him tomorrow, that I can be delivered tomorrow, that my finances will get better tomorrow.  Jesus said we should take no thought for tomorrow! (Matthew 6:34).  We often translate this into don’t worry, but  if we take it literally it would tell us to not even think about tomorrow.  God is the God of NOW, of TODAY!

I pray you will make the most of this day.  Spend a little longer today in prayer than yesterday.  Spend a little more time in the word, a little more time on your knees, a little more time reaching out to others, a little more time praising Him.  Time is a finite thing.  We can’t get more of it.  But we can redeem it properly, use it to our advantage.  Make sure you are making the most of your time by concentrating on doing more for the Lord todayt

Ephesians 5:16 King James Version

16 Redeeming the time, because the days are evil.

A New Hope

I was shackled
Held by the snare of the enemy
Only I did not know it
I did not feel the chains
The weight
The burden
I was enjoying the pleasure
The high of life
The solitude of my sin
Each day brought new pleasure
New darkness
New shadows in my life
I had no hope
I did not care about the future
Only today mattered
Only what made me feel good today
There was no god
No judge
No one that challenged my way
No one that helped me see where I was going
And I cared not
I had today
I had pleasure
I had money
I thought I was free
I was free to do what I wanted
When I wanted
How I wanted
No guidelines
No destiny
No path to follow
Just a long and winding road
That led nowhere

Then I heard a voice
It sounded faint and soft
It was almost a whisper
In a place where there was shouting
A preacher spouting fire and brimstone
A preacher telling me my destiny
Telling me where I was heading
A place of horror
A place of darkness
A place of fire
I was scared
For the first time I confronted myself
As if looking in a mirror
I sat in that seat
Knowing my destiny now
Knowing it was not a good place
Knowing I did not want to go there
And I heard that voice
That soothing gentle voice
In the middle of my chaos
In the midst of this turmoil in my head
He spoke words of kindness
Of love
Of mercy
Of grace
An I wanted to follow that voice
I wanted to abandon my previous path
And start a new course
A new destiny
A new hope

He said I was chosen
He came to me
I was not seeking Him
I was not looking for a change
I was not wanting a change
But He found me
A wandering sheep
Lost and alone in a sinful world
In a dark place
In a place of bondage and shame
He found me
He loosed the shackles
He untied my hands
He loosened my mind from the enemies control
He set my fee on a new path
With a  new destiny
A new hope
A new life
He made me His own
He made me righteous
He sanctified me
He cleaned me up
He set my feet on higher ground
To stay

Now I write what He speaks
Words of praise
Words of blessing
Words of  grace and mercy
Words of protection and provision
I write His words for you
His voice speaks to me
And I write
My mind is free from clutter
Free from the noises of the world
Free from the shackles of my sin
He has chosen me
I am not sure why
I am not sure where it will lead
But I am sure this is what he has asked
He has called me
To write His words
To share His message
His love
His compassion
To a lost and dying world
Many are where I once was
Many are lost or have lost their way
I can only pray
That one will hear
That one will listen
That I can plant one seed
Touch one life
With His love
His words
Because God so loved the world
He gave His only Son
If you believe in Him
Hope is yours
Love is yours
Peace is yours
Joy is yours
Eternal life is yours
Just ask Him to be your Savior
Allow Him to be your Lord
And the Kingdom of God is yours
