Where is Your Trust?

I used to be a wild kid

Just wandering through life

I placed my trust in many things

But all of them just brought strife

Then I put my trust in Jesus

And He came into my heart

Now I have a calm assurance

That He never will depart

From now on I’ll trust Him always

My own wisdom put aside

I will give Him praise for everything

And He will daily be my guide

Subdued and Contemplative

Sometimes i sit quietly

And think about my life

Subdued and contemplative

In awe of Jesus Christ

How He took this poor lost sinner

And He gave me a new wife

Then some children and some grands

In a wonderful new life

He also took my sins away

And washed me up snow white

And He asked me to go out

And share His wondrous light

He’s given me a purpose

And He gives me Spirit sight

To find those that are hungry

And are struggling in their life

Sometimes I sit and wonder

Why my God would rescue me

Subdued and contemplative

I bow down on my knee

And I thank my Lord and Savior

For the life He’s given me

What an awesome God he is

And will forever bez

A Friend of Mine

I want to talk with Jesus all the day long

Telling my story and singing my song

I want to talk with Jesus all the day long

‘Cause He’s a friend of mine

I want to walk with Jesus all through the night

Showing Him all of my favorite sights

I want to walk with Jesus all through the night

‘Cause he’s a friend of mine

I asked Him in my heart many years ago

And I have come to know Him more and more

Every time I need Him, I call on His name

And He comes a running to my side

I want to sit with Jesus under the stars

Ask about creation right from the start

I want to sit with Jesus under the stars

‘Cause He’s a friend of mine

And even though He’s my friend I praise His name

I’ll worship Him forever, that will never change

I lift my voice to heaven and lift up my praise

To my very best friend – Jesus is His name

I asked Him in my heart many years ago

And I have come to know Him more and more

Every time I need Him, I call on His name

And He comes a running to my side

A Little Smoother Now

I used to be clumsy with speech

I’d juggle and mess up my words

I liked to talk

And I wouldn’t balk

At saying things really absurd

I joined a group called Toastmasters

They taught me to speak really well

I now had a voice

And made the right choice

Of which words to use – it is swell!

Now I can speak so much smoother

I can share what’s important to me

The Lord Jesus Christ

Has transformed my life

And He wants to set you free!

Great, Great Love

One day every knee will bow

In heaven and in earth

And every tongue will confess

That Jesus Christ is Lord

It matters not what they believed

While living on this earth

They must acknowledge He is Lord

For all the world to see

And those who served Him here below

Will then a mansion gain

But those who chose another road

A fire awaits them

As for me I’ll sing His praise

As long as I have breath

For He’s the one who gave His life

So I’d be free from sin

Oh, the great, great love of God

Who sent His only Son

To die and take my sin away

And rose to give me life

Oh the great. Great love of God

Who looks down from above

And helps me every day I live

To grow in grace and truth

I’ll lift my praise Hosanna

Glory to the King

Highest Hallelujahs

Praise His mighty name

Praise and adoration

To Jesus Christ my Lord

Worthy of my highest praise

Now and evermore.

Proceed With Caution

I  used to never be careful

About what I said or did

I just had fun and I partied

And most of my life was hid

But then I made Jesus my Savior

And He asked much more of me

He asked me to be His disciple

And live a life for His glory

So I put aside all of the parties

And I watched every word that I said

I wanted to glorify Jesus

And not bring reproach to His name

Now I know it’s hard to be perfect

In all that we say and do

So I will proceed with caution

As I witness to  all the world

The Resting Place

I need to find a resting place

Where troubles will all cease

It seems the daily battles rage

And I can’t find His peace

I long to find a resting place

Where healing will be mine

It seems this worn out body

Gets sorer all the time

I hope to find a resting place

Where doubt is cast aside

Where faith is all that rules

My heart and soul and mind

I’m searching for a resting place

Where I can dwell in peace

I need a calm, assuring voice

To end my worried speech

And when the day is over

And my rhyme is almost done

A small voice whispers in my ear

And now I can rejoice

Jesus is the resting place

That I am longing for

In His arms your comfort waits

Come and make Him yours

He’ll heal you and deliver you

And peace will flood your soul

And soon you’ll find a quiet rest

That soothes and makes you whole

Come into the resting place

Where peace is alt for you

Jesus is the resting place

He’s there awaiting you.

The Only Way

I just woke up this morning

The sleep is still in my eyes

I opened up my computer

That’s when I realized

I had to write out this poem

And not give it any disguise

Because no one can say I’m a fool

I have Jesus, and He makes me wise

Some would start up an argument

Others would question why

Why do you say He’s the only way

To get to the other side?

The answer is really quite simple

It’s because He can not lie

He says no one comes to the Father

Except through His sacrifice.

I will trust Him forever

Because He has shown me grace

And one day that is very soon

I will finally look on His face

Won;t you believe His word today

And ask Him your sins to erase?

If you call on Him He will save you

And you’ll feel His loving embrace

Crossing Over

In my youth I visited Canada many times

On family vacations

Crossing the border was easy

No hassles, no problem

As an adult, I visited Mexico

Cancun to be precise

We flew, so went through customs

At he airport, easy as pie!

These border crossings were on this earth

And there were many ways to do it

But the border crossing to heaven

Has one way

Jesus.

In you want to cross that border

So heaven will be your reward

Then call on the name

The precious name

The only way

The truth

And he life

Jesus, the Lamb slain for you.

The Coming Storm

Winds are swirling

Seas are churning

Storm is drying near

Windows boarded

Food is hoarded

Forecast bringing fear

Time is wasting

Storm’s approaching

Skies are growing black

Rain starts falling

Wind is howling

No time to turn back

We see the forecast looming

And prepare for what’s to come

Anticipate the worst case

And hope for much more calm

And when the storm has passed

And the skies all start to clear

We start the lengthy clean-up

That will last throughout the year

But a different storm is coming

One that has no warning signs

It’s a promise in the Bible

And it’s getting close to time

Jesus will return soon

To take His children home

And once we all leave with Him

You won’t want to be alone

But today you can prepare

For this day that’s coming soon

If a storm you will prepare for

Why not the coming doom?

Just ask Jesus to be Lord

And repent of all your sin

He will come and save your soul

And come to live within
