He Came Down

Down from above
Bringing His love
The Savior came on Christmas day
Babe in the hay
Quiet He lay
While angels proclaimed His praise

Shepherds rejoiced
They heard Angels voice
To Bethlehem they made their way
Bowing in honor
Glory forever
To Jesus who came as a babe

He came down to save us
He came down to free us
From sweet little babe
To sacrifice made
He came down and gave us His grace

I cannot imagine
His love I can’t fathom
That He would give up His throne
His birth was obscure
His life was a blur
Only three years was this earth His home

From lowly beginning
To triumphant King
He had to give all he had
His death on the cross
Was such a great loss
But victory came in the end

He came down to save us
He came down to free us
From sweet little babe
To sacrifice made
He came down and gave us His grace

Emmanuel
God with us
The form of a babe
The Lord of Lords lay
Ready to redeem us all

He came down to save us
He came down to free us
From sweet little babe
To sacrifice made
He came down and gave us His grace
Christmas Poetry

A Little Hole in Heaven

A little hole in heaven
Opened up that Christmas day
When Jesus Son of God
Came to earth as a little babe

When He left His throne above
He traveled through that hole
A host of angels followed
And one His story told

He told it to some shepherds
Out in the field that night
They trembled at the Angel
For he shone with heavenly light

He told them that a Savior
Was born in Bethlehem
The full angelic choir sang
The shepherds went to greet Him

That hole let out the brilliant light
That surged from Jesus throne
It looked as if a giant star
Above the manger shone

Three kings from far off countries
Saw the brilliant star so bright
They set off on a journey
With gifts for the promised child

Yes a little hole in heaven
Opened up that Christmas night
Through it came our Savior
Coming down to give us Light

He shone the Light from heaven
So that we could see our sin
Then He died as our redeemer
If our hearts would now repent

Open up your heart to Jesus
On this blessed Christmas day
He came down from heaven’s glory
So He could light your way

The Songs of Christmas

Hear the sounds of Christmas
Ringing in the air
Sounds that warm your heart
Meant for all to hear

Jingle Bells are jingling
Everywhere you go
Wishing Merry Christmas
To all who hear them toll

The First Noel has sounded
From choirs bringing cheer
Noel, Noel Born is the King
Is music to our ears

Precious songs of Christmas
Songs if warmth and cheer
Sung with all your heart
Every single year

And then a chorus fills the air
Hark the Herald Angels Sing
Voices of the highest praise
Glory to the newborn King

Oh, little town of Bethlehem
A town we’ve grown to love
Is visited by three wise men
Who saw he star above

Sing the tale of Christmas
With familiar lines
From children to our elders
Enjoying every rhyme

Away in lowly manger
No room was found for them
In hay they laid their baby
And there His tale begins

Silent Night, Holy Night
When Jesus Christ was born
The songs of His appearing
Are songs that bring us joy

Joy to the World
Jesus Christ has come
Born to die for all mankind
Praise the Holy One

Sing the songs of Christmas
Lift your praise above
Sing with all your heart
Songs we know and love

What Christmas Means to Me

When I sit back and look at Christmas
And all that it means to me
I am filled with awe and wonder
At the lessons that this day brings

As a babe in a manger, He showed me
That humility is first in my life
There is nothing more important
Then putting others first every time

Mary and Joseph knew all things
But they did not speak a word
His teaches me I must just show Him
And let the Spirit do the work

The star up above that announced Him
Taught me that I must be a light
If I shine bright enough to others
They will come to His manger side

I innkeeper who had no room
Shows there are many who will not take time
To recognize Jesus is knocking
At the door of their heart and mind

This gives me a reason to show them
The place in my heart He holds
And perhaps they will just make room
For the one who can make them whole

The shepherds who came to that manger
Saw a baby like any other child
He did not appear to be a Savior
But someone whose meek and mild

His teaches me I should not stand out
Like a bull in a China shop
But should go about my daily chores
Let my work tell His story of Hope

Yes, the lessons we learn from Christmas
Are as vast as the sand and the sea
I will go out and show the whole world
Just what Christmas means to me

I Can’t Imagine

I can’t imagine what went through the shepherd’s mind that night
When the angel of the Lord appeared, bringing brilliant light
I can’t imagine what they heard when those angels start to sing
Peace on earth and Hallelujah, glory to the newborn king

I can’t imagine what the wisemen thought from distance far
When they looked up in the sky and saw that brilliant star
I can’t imagine as they journeyed to a foreign land
To see the King of Kings as the prophecy had said

I can’t imagine Joseph’s thoughts a Mary was in pain
Bringing forth the baby that would be the great I AM
I can’t imagine Mary holding Jesus as a babe
And singing lullaby’s to Him as He lay in the hay

I can’t imagine Jesus before the Father on that day
Saying I will go to earth and become a little babe
I can’t imagine walking with Him as He taught the crowds
And being there when he scolded all the Pharisees aloud

I can’t imagine all the pain he felt that fateful night
As they beat Him and they whipped Him into a frightful sight
I can’t imagine seeing Him just hanging on a cross
I probably would think that this is such a loss

I can’t imagine when one day I’ll see Him in the clouds
As He returns to take us home and give to us our crowns
I can’t imagine what a time that we will have in heaven
Praising Him and joining saints forever and forever.

I Need to Be Reminded

I need to be reminded of the price you paid for me
When you left your throne in heaven and came to rescue me
I need to be reminded as a baby you arrived
There was no one here to greet you but some shepherds on that night

I need to be reminded of the lessons that you taught
As you walked on this earth as a man and not as God
I need to be reminded of the works that you performed
There were many who believed and many who would harm

I need to be reminded of the price you paid for me
When you suffered and died that day on Calvary
I need to be reminded of the suffering and the pain
As they beat you and bruised you again and again

I need to be reminded that you rose again that day
Up from the grave to open heavens gates
I need to be reminded that you reign eternally
I know there is a mansion up in heaven just for me

I need to be reminded that your story has been told
In the Bible it was written by men so long ago
I need to be reminded to spend my time each day
In the pages of your book where your words are there to stay

I need to be reminded that my life is in your hands
That you care for me and hope for me to walk in your great plan
I need to be reminded to spend time in prayer each day
And to lift my eyes to heaven and give you all my praise

What A Mystery

What if I had a million stars to put in place?
What if I knew them all and called them all by name?
I’d pick a special one to put up in the sky
Over the place where soon the Savior would arrive

What if the angels came to me with wondrous praise?
What if they asked me who should hear the news they gave?
I’d pick the ones who would be humble and obey
Shepherds out in the field who kept watch every day

CHORUS
Oh, what a mystery. Oh, what great love
The Son of God left His throne above
Oh, what compassion on sinners like me
He left His royal throne to die for me

What if the shepherds brough their flocks to see the King?
What if three wise men travelled far their gifts to bring?
There in a manger lay the Savior of the world
Today He’s just a babe but He’ll be Lord of Lords

CHORUS

BRIDGE
What if He had not come? I’d still be lost.
No hope to look for, all peace is gone
Joy would be sorrow, True love unknown
If Jesus had not come this Christmas morn

CHORUS

He Comes for You

She came into Bethlehem
Meek and mild
Heavy with child
Riding a donkey for many miles
Worn and weary from a long journey
Seeking room to give birth
There was none but a stable
A lowly manger filled with hay
Would be the child’s resting place
Just one stranger in the city
Teaming with visitors
No one knew her
No one cared
No one knew whom she carried in her womb
Yet at his birth
Shepherds from the field came to greet him
They were told by angels to come
Come meet the King
Come meet the Savior
He brings peace on earth
Good will to man
They came
And they bowed
And they worshipped the King
Then they left and told all
And few understood what they said
Mary knew who He was
Joseph knew who He was
But the world did not know who just arrived
In such humility
In such a place as this

He comes into the gate
Lazarus awaits
Freshly risen form the dead
Bartimaeus awaits
His eyes wide open
The crowd awaits
To praise the coming King
Riding on a donkey
Meek and mild
Heavy with His fate and what awaits Him
Not the crowd
Not the praise
But the cross He sees coming for Him
He arrives to Hosannah
Blessed be the one who comes in the name of the Lord
He arrives to praise
Palm branches waving
People shouting and singing
He arrives to death
Calvary looms large in the distance
He knows He will be beaten
He knows He will wear a crown of thorns
He knows He will be condemned to die
He knows He will be nailed to a cross
Crucified
Yet He still comes
In great humility
To fulfill His destiny
And all prophesy
To all who think they know who He is
But have no idea what will become of Him
The pain
The agony
The suffering
The loneliness of the cross
All for us
All for me
All for you

Will you welcome the King?
Will you lift your palms to worship?
Will you welcome Him today?
Give Him all your praise?
Give your life today?
He gave His for you
Now it’s your turn
Your time
Your destiny
Let Him in
Welcome Him with open arms
He comes to die
Yet He comes to save
He comes to suffer
Yet he comes to heal
He comes to forgive
Yet her takes all your sin
Take His love today
He gives it for you

The Witness of Christmas

 Hope that fills the darkness
 Love for all to see
 Peace to calm the nations
 Joy abundantly

 Attributes of Christmas
 Shine throughout the year
 Giving light to others
 Filling all with cheer

 Let your light so shine
 That others come to know
The love of Christ our Savior
 Has come to earth below

 We must be a witness
 Every single day
 Help others to know Jesus
The truth, the life, the way

 Let your Christmas spirit
 Shine for all to see
 Hope, joy, peace and love
 Your witness ought to be

A Christmas Prayer

 The day is finally here
A day of mirth and good cheer
 We’ve waited this long
 And sung all the songs
That deck the halls this year

The Christmas tree shines so bright
And the houses are covered with lights
 The presents are many
 The foods getting ready
And soon we’ll all wake from the night

The children flock to the tree
And open their presents with glee
 Paper flies everywhere
 Parents laugh without a care
They just hope the children are pleased

Once all the presents are open
It’s time for the feast to begin
 We sit at the table
 And all who are able
Take turns as we start to dig in

Then a gentle hand says wait
Let’s take a minute to pray
So they all bow their heads
 As these words are said
To give God the thanks for this day

 Oh, the joy of Christmas
 Glad tidings we all sing
 Blessed Hallelujahs
 To the King of Kings
 Glory in the highest
 Emmanuel is here
 Let’s not forget the reason
For this special time of year

 Because God sent His son
In a manger bed He lay
 Such a simple start
 Yet we celebrate this day
 Because that little babe
Gave His life our debt to pay
 And now we’re born again
If we follow in His way

There’s a hush that fills the room
 As a little child says
 I want to follow Him
Will you show me the way?
And right there at the table
 Before the meal begins
 We pray the sinner’s prayer
And that child has entered in

 Oh, the joy of Christmas
 Glad tidings we all sing
 Blessed Hallelujahs
 To the King of Kings
 Glory in the highest
 Emmanuel is here
 Let’s not forget the reason
For this special time of year
