So Few

He was born in a stable in little Bethlehem
Laid in a manger sleeping on the hay
Angels beckoned shepherds and kings from other lands
To see the Son of God that day

What they all knew is that He was born a King
Despite the surroundings they could see
Mary and Joseph knew glad tidings He would bring
The Son of Man would show the way

 Oh, what a blessing
 Oh , what an honor
Oh, what a solemn call it is
So few had come to the baby born that night
So few knew Him as a King

Today we decorate with lights and candy canes
Presents are set under a Christmas tree
But there are so few that really recognize the day
As a day they celebrate their King

They think He’s a prophet or a teacher of great truths
They think He’s a wise man with a gift
Some even think He’s a fable and never really lived
Oh how wrong they are to miss the King

 Oh, what a blessing
 Oh, what an honor
Oh, what a solemn call it is
To be among the few who call this baby King
So few make Him Lord of their lives

So few bow down to the baby born that night
So few know the Savior has arrived
So few recognize He came to give His life
So few will bow before His throne

 The shepherds Knew the story
The wise men knew the story
Mary and Joseph knew the story
 Do you?

All Because of Christmas

I walk through the city and see the lights
Red, green and blue, they shine so bright
Each house is lit up in the night
 All because of Christmas

Merchants are smiling as people pay
For merchandise they bought that day
They smile as people shop and play
 All because of Christmas

Churches are bustling with holiday fare
Candies and cookies abundant are there
The choirs are singing their songs of cheer
 All because of Christmas

Families will gather from miles away
Have not been together for many a day
They get along fine and then go their way
 All because of Christmas

But Christmas is more than shopping and food
More than the lights or family viewed
Christmas is when a baby was born
 A long, long time ago

He was born in a stable that Holy night
Above shone a star of incredible light
Angels announced His birth that day
 A long, long time ago

He did not come a good life to live
He came to die and to pardon our sin
Now we are free from guilt and shame
 And live forever with Him

This Christmas you can enjoy the lights
The food and the family and presents all right
But please don’t forget that babe long ago
Who gave His life just for you

The Cross Was the Reason

When I think about the manger, I think about the cross
All the wondrous things God did on those two days
The first tells of the birth of the precious Son of God
To bring to us the dawn of peace and grace

The shepherds in the field show all are welcome there
The kings who came with gifts show us His worth
The star was like a beacon that anyone could see
But only few received the Saviors birth

The manger shows His meekness and deep humility
That the Son of God would come to such a place
The inn shows us that many would turn the babe away
Refusing to partake of God’s sweet grace

The cross shows us His passion for every single one
The bruises and the scars He took for us
His cry of please forgive them rings down throughout all time
Showing that our God is true and just

He gave His mother comfort from the agony He felt
As He gave John the charge to care for her
His cry of don’t forsake me shows His bitter taste of death
For the first time He was parted from His Father

When He cried it is finished all creation should have bowed
To the King who gave His life for all mankind
The plan of our redemption was finally complete
And His death would be a light for all of time

But it was not finished, the story’s not complete
Three days later He arose from death to life
Now He lives forevermore and He reigns from High above
Providing for us all eternal life

Yes, the manger stands so tall as a beacon in the dark
Of a world that’s full of sin and much despair
But you cannot see the manger as a symbol by itself
The cross was the reason that He came

The Songs of Christmas

 Hear the sounds of Christmas
 Ringing in the air
 Sounds that warm your heart
 Meant for all to hear

 Jingle Bells are jingling
 Everywhere you go
 Wishing Merry Christmas
To all who hear them toll

 The First Noel has sounded
 From choirs bringing cheer
Noel, Noel Born is the King
 Is music to our ears

 Precious songs of Christmas
 Songs if warmth and cheer
 Sung with all your heart
 Every single year

And then a chorus fills the air
 Hark the Herald Angels Sing
 Voices of the highest praise
 Glory to the newborn King

 Oh, little town of Bethlehem
A town we’ve grown to love
Is visited by three wise men
 Who saw he star above

 Sing the tale of Christmas
 With familiar lines
 From children to our elders
 Enjoying every rhyme

 Away in lowly manger
No room was found for them
In hay they laid their baby
 And there His tale begins

 Silent Night, Holy Night
 When Jesus Christ was born
 The songs of His appearing
Are songs that bring us joy

 Joy to the World
 Jesus Christ has come
Born to die for all mankind
 Praise the Holy One

 Sing the songs of Christmas
 Lift your praise above
 Sing with all your heart
 Songs we know and love

Gift of Love

 It was anything but silent
 In Bethlehem that day
The streets were full of travelers
 Who finally found their way

A census had been called for
And the rules were very clear
Every man had to go back to
The tribal village through the years

 Joseph lived in Nazareth
 With Mary, full with child
They had to travel many days
 And cover many miles

 When they arrived in Bethlehem
There was no place to stay
They found a shelter for the night
In a stable filled with hay

The child was born next morning
In a manger he was laid
It seemed a normal birth to them
As the looked down at the babe

Then shepherds came and told them
Of an angel choir that night
That had come to them alone
They were fearful of the sight

 The shepherds shared the words
 That the angels had proclaimed
Peace on earth was come today
And goodwill to all of man

 Mary smiled at hearing
 The story that they told
For she knew this special child
Was the Son of God foretold

As the morning sun was rising
 The baby slept in hay
Now the Son of God had come
His gift of love was here to stay

Is your heart prepared for Jesus
Have you made some room for Him
He wants to share His love with you
Oh won’t you ask Him in

The Great Payment

Have you ever thought it strange
That a baby in a manger
Would be the one who came to set men free
And have you ever stopped to think
About the fact that Heaven’s King
Left His throne to come and die for you and me

 You may think it’s fable
He was born in lowly stable
But the story has withstood the test of time
And I thought that you should know
Why I’ve come to love Him so
For I want you to know this Lord of Life

You see, He changed my life
When I came to Him that time
That my life was spinning out of control
He forgave all of my sin
And He put His spirit in
Now He walks with me wherever I may go

Because this baby in the manger
 Was no ordinary stranger
But the Son of God who came to earth that day
 He shared the Father’s love
 And brought healing from above
And He said He was the truth the life the way

 His teaching brought division
 Put the leaders in derision
They decided that He must be put to death
 So they shouted crucify Him
On a cross they railed against Him
And He gave His life in one last gasp of breath

 The final price was paid
For the sin of human race
And now we are set free forevermore
And it all began that day
In a stable filled with hay
And a baby who the blessed Mary bore.

 This Christmas don’t forget
The great payment for our debt
That was made by that baby in the hay
He was born to die for me
And to set the captive free
Let us celebrate His birth this Christmas day

Glory to God in the Highest

I see the star, brightly shining, in the calm and dark of night
I see the shepherds, as they’re warming, by a fire with dimming light
I see the sheep, gently gazing, in the shepherds watchful sight
I see a scene, oh how serene, on this holiest of nights

Suddenly the sky is parted by an angel glorious
Singing praise and peace on earth, sounding quite victorious
Fear thou not, the Savior comes, in a manger in a hush
Then an multitude arrives as shepherds watch the chorus

Glory to God. Glory to God
Glory to God in the highest
Peace on earth good will to men
Glory to God in the highest

Shepherds leave their flocks by night to find the lowly manger
They arrive and see the babe. They do not feel like strangers
They bow before the child and sing the song the angels gave them
The highest praise to Christ the King as he lay in the manger

Glory to God.  Glory to God
Glory to God in the highest
Peace on earth.  Good will to men
Glory to God in the highest

The highest praise to Christ the King
 The shepherds pledge Him everything
They leave and tell the world they’ve seen
 The Savior of the world

Glory to God.  Glory to God
Glory to God in the highest
Peace on earth.  Good will to men
Glory to God in the highest

This Night

This night is a holy night.
With the star shining brightly in the sky
 Where the child lay
This night is a holy night.
For the spirit of God has come to stay
In a stable filled with hay.
 It’s a Holy Night

This star is a holy star.
Shining so brightly in the sky
 There to light the way
This star is a holy star.
Giving light to Mary’s newborn babe
He has come the world to save.
 It’s a Holy Star.

All of heaven rejoices, singing hallelujah
 Emmanuel has come to earth
Angels ring in His coming on this glorious day
The son of God has come to save

This child is a holy child.
The angels proclaim His lowly birth
 To shepherds in the field
This child is a holy child.
Kings bearing gifts come from afar
And they kneel before the child.
 He’s a Holy Child.

Lift up your voice and sing praise to the newborn king
Good will to man and peace on earth He brings
Join with the chorus as angels sing
Praises to the King.  Sing praises to the King!

All of heaven rejoices, singing hallelujah
 Emmanuel has come to earth
Angels ring in His coming on this glorious day
The son of God has come to save

Ponder These Things

 Lord of the Heavens
Seated on the right hand of God
 Four and twenty elders worshipping
Sing glory and honor and power and might
To the King of Kings and Lord of Lords
 Exalted above all others
 Since the beginning of time
 Glorious and majestic
 Full of awe and wonder
 All things created by Him
 All things created for Him
 Beautiful beyond description
More precious than silver or gold
 Merciful and gracious
 Longsuffering and full of goodness
 Worthy of all praise
Son of the most high God
 Holy is He
 King of heaven and earth
 Left His heavenly place
Left the splendor and the glory
Left the right hand of God
 Left His Father
 Left His power and authority
 Left His throne
 To come to this earth
 Disrobed of His glory
 Clothed in rags
 A baby in a manger
 No honor bestowed Him
 No welcome of royalty
 But animals in the stable
 A star announcing His birth
 Brightly shines above the city
Wise men from afar witness the star
 They start their journey
Angels announcing His birth to shepherds
 Not to kings
Sing glory to God in the Highest
Say the Savior, Christ the Lord, has come
As a babe in as manger
Beckon the shepherds to go and see
They come and tell Mary their tale
And bow before the King of Kings
 Little baby in the hay
Mary ponders these things in her heart
We should so ponder these things
 His humility
 His love
 His sacrifice
 All for us
 All for you
 All for me
