Resolved

SPECIAL NOTE:  I will begin a study in Ephesians on my “Traveling with Paul” blog today.  My hope is to  post  every day.  Please join me by CLICKING HERE

This year I will praise Him
With all my heart and soul
I’ll lift my voice to heaven
To Jesus Christ our Lord

This year I will love my neighbor
And those who are in need
I’ll ask the Lord for wisdom
And plant some gospel seeds
I am resolved to walk
Everyday as a light
My greatest desire is to see
Sinners saved from their plight
Lord help me be a witness
In everything I do
I am resolved to live
So that others will see you
This year I’m going to pray
With a fervent and faithful heart
Work down my list each day
Of those who have crossed my path
This year I will have mercy
On those who may do me wrong
I will extend your grace Lord
To all who may come along
When I see
Lives get changed
By your loving
Holy hand
I will lift up
My voice in thanks
And give you all the praise
I am resolved to walk
Everyday as a light
My greatest desire is to see
Sinners saved from their plight
Lord help me be a witness
In everything I do
I am resolved to live
So that others will see you

It Doesn’t Matter

Will the new year bring a healing
To my feet and shoulder too
It doesn’t matter, Lord
Because I will still praise you

Will the new year bring a blessing
To these finances of ours
It doesn’t matter, Lord
I’ll still praise you every hour

Will I start to work again
And have good response from all
It doesn’t matter, Lord
I will answer when you call

My heart is set to worship you
And lift your holy name
No matter what I may go through
I’ll always lift your praise
And when the storm clouds gather
And my life is rearranged
I’ll lift my voice to heaven
And magnify your name

Will all my strength come back to me
So I can golf again
It’s doesn’t matter, Lord
I’ll praise your mighty name

Should this cancer not quite go away
And further treatment come
It doesn’t matter, Lord
I’ll still proclaim your love

Now, folks, don’t get me wrong
I’m believing God for all
For healing and deliverance
For financial windfall
For cancer to be gone
And me back to standing tall
There’s no doubt in my mind
That He will do it all

But my praise is not based
On what He does for me
My praise goes to Jesus
He is all I need
He is the King of Kings
And I can plainly see
That He deserves my praise
No matter what might be

I will worship Jesus
Until my dying breath
He’s my Lord forever
My songs will never end
His name is just so powerful
His mercy is so great
I’ll lift my hands and praise Him
For His amazing Grace

What Can I Do But Pray

When a distant friend is down with pain

And his family doesn’t care, again

There is no one close

Who can lend a hand

What can I do but pray?

When I hear of someone who’s been hurt bad

From an accident that they’ve just had

There too far away

For me to be there

What can I do but pray?

When a trial or test is taking its toll

And there’s no one else that they have told

It is mine to bear

For the burden’s large

What can I do but pray?

I can send a card with a message bright

I can give an encouraging word each day

I can keep upbeat when we talk at night

That’s what I can do while I pray

When a friend is in the hospital room

And I just can’t get there to see them soon

They won’t be there long

They’ll be out of touch

What can I do but pray?

When a death has come to a family

And I know that they’re not real close to me

The funeral is soon

But I’m out of town

What can I do but pray?

I can bring some food to their house for them

I can offer to clean or to lend a hand

I can give them rides or run errands

That’s what I can do while I pray

It’s the Golden rule that we must obey

Do unto others is the good Lord’s way

That when I want to do more than pray

I can think about what I would need

And then when the time has come for aid

I can give of my time and give of my day

And then when I have done all I can

I can rest peacefully and pray.

As I Wait

I cried out to God
In the midst of my need

And I prayed He would give me relief
I asked Him for mercy
And told Him my plea
And then I began to believe

One day, then two days
A week then passed by
And I had not received a reply
I went back to God
And I asked Him what’s up
And He then spoke and told me why

It’s time to be still
And know I am God
Your prayer will be answered on time
Until then you wait
And trust in my love
The best timing is always mine.

I knew He was right
As He always is
So I summoned the patience He gives
And my spirit raised up
And praise filled my heart
So I lifted my worship to Him

Praise the Lord for His mercy
Praise the Lord for His grace
Praise His mighty name with every breath
All glory to Jesus
My Savior divine
Praise the Lord for His loving embrace

So now when a trial
Comes into my life
I lift up my voice in praise
For He is worthy
Every day
As I wait I will lift up His name

All glory to Jesus
My fortress and rock
He’ll keep me safe in the storm

And I’ll cling to Him

As I wait for His time

Safe and secure in His arms

Pray and Give Thanks

Lord, I thank you for my family
As we share this special day
You know they mean so much to me
In a multitude of ways
And especially I’m thankful
For the wife you’ve given me
She’s more thank I could ask for
She is my everything

I pray for those who are not blessed
With family on this day
Or for those who’ve lost a loved one
And don’t have the words to say
I ask that you would comfort them
In this theirytime of need
And help me to avail myself
To be their friend indeed

I thank you for my health dear Lord
For all that’s going right
Even though I have this cancer
That has given me a fight
I know that you will heal this
And my feet and shoulder too
So I thank you for my health
Because my healing comes from you

I pray for those who suffer
Through sickness and through pain
And do not trust you fully
To bring them health again
I pray you give me words to say
That will encourage them
And then they’ll know your healing
Will touch them in the end

Lord, I thank you for your joy and peace
They are with me all the time
I am filled with great awareness
Of the blessings that are mine
Your joy fills me abundantly
And helps me feel just fine
And your peace keep me from fear
When the trials are so nigh

I pray for those who suffer
With depression or dis-ease
And I ask your Holy Spirit
To bring comfort and bring peace
Help them feel the joy you promised
Down deep inside their soul
So that even in their troubles
Their heart will be made whole.

Lord, I thank you for salvation
You paid the price for me
When you gave your life a sacrifice
Your blood did set me free
You rule my life as Lord of love
And now I plainly see
Whom the Son of God has purchased
He has been set free indeed

I pray for those who don’t know you
That this Thanksgiving day
As we share about the blessings
That you have brought our way
That our words will reach their hearing
And someone will boldly say
How can I get salvation
I want to ask today!

Happy Thanksgiving to all.  Have a blessed day!

When Tomorrow Comes

Tomorrow is a day.

We stop to give our thanks

For all the things that bless our earthly lives

We gather with our loved ones

And eat a worthy feast

Remembering all the wonderfully good times

When we give our thanks for family

And those who eat with us

Will we also pray for those we know

Who a close one they have lost?

When we thank God for the meal we eat

So abundant and so good

Will we pray for those who have much less

And perhaps take them some food?

When we give thanks for all the things

That we have been blessed by

Will we pray for those in poverty

That a blessing they will find

When we give thanks to God above

For His salvation plan

Will we pray for those who don’t know Him

And give to them His plan?

When tomorrow comes it’s easy

To give our thanks to God

But this year let’s remember

That’s really not enough

Let’s lift our prayers for others

Who suffer through this day

Let’s lift our hands to help them

With aid along the way

Our blessings weren’t for us to hoard

And save up for some day

They were given so we can give

So let us find a way.

Yes, when tomorrow comes

Let the Golden Rule win out

We can change the world this way

By simple acts of love

What A Friend

What a friend, an awesome friend

He’s with me all my life

He promised He won’t leave me

Or forsake me for all time

We have in Jesus, wonderful Jesus

Came to earth, God’s only Son

Gave His life, His precious life

Now the victory has won

All our sins, every one

Are washed as white as snow

Now I walk free and complete

Each day He shows me how

And griefs to bear, He gives me peace

And joy has filled me heart

His blessings overwhelm me

They flow when day does start

What a privilege, an awesome right

Has mercy will always be

It’s amazing I can approach Him

King of Kings and Lord to me

To carry. bring to Him

As He’s seated on His throne

Up in heaven, ruling all

The universe is His alone

Everything, every little thing

All my worries and my doubts

When I give them all to Him

I can know He cares about

To God in prayer, heartfelt prayer

To the King of Kings on high

He hears every word I pray

And He answers in His time

Oh, what peace we often forfeit

There’s no need be distressed

When we call out to the Savior

He will always give His best
Oh, what needless pain we bear

There’s no need for suffering

When we cry in heart felt worship

He will come and mercy bring

All because we do not carry
Everything to God in prayer

Praising Through the Pain

Is anyone awake out there?

Can anybody hear?

I sure could use a friend right now

To talk to through my tears.

My back is aching once again

I cannot sleep at all

I took a pain pill hour ago

And I’m afraid I’ll fall

Oh, my God, where are you?

Can you hear my cry?

Why won’t you deliver me?

Why won’t pain subside?

My feet are aching also

It hurts me just to stand

And when I try to walk somewhere

The drop foot seems to land.

The walker helps to get up

And get into my chair

And that is where I sit right now

Not going anywhere

Oh, God, I’m crying out to you

Please heal these pains of mine

I need to know you hear me now

I need you at this time

I will lift my voice in praise

To you, my precious Lord

For you have done so much for me

A fact I can’t ignore

I thank you for your mercy

And I ask you now for more

But even if you leave me here

I’ll worship you, my Lord

I lift your name up high right now

Your glory I proclaim

Your worthy of my worship Lord

Even if my pain remains.

Thank you for your prayers

A while back I posted about the fact that I had Multiple Myeloma, a form of cancer, and asked for your prayers.  I know many of you have been praying for me, and I  can’t thank you enough.  After two stem cell transplants this summer  I met with my oncologist at the University of Iowa and want to share with you my current status.

The great news is the I am officially in remission!  Praise the Lord!  For Myeloma patients, what that means is that the number of cells carrying the Myeloma cancer has dropped below 100 million, making any cancer undetectable.  So next week Monday I start on a maintenance program that will last the next two years.

The first year, I will have chemo by infusion on Monday and Tuesday every other week, and also an oral chemo medication.  This is necessary is because once the remaining Myeloma cells realize that all the ones in my system are dead, they will wake up, and as they do they must be killed over a period of time.  The second year I will just do the oral chemo.  By the end of the second yea, they have found that all the sleeping cells have woken up and been killed off, and I can then be declared cancer free.

I also still have other issues I am dealing with that have come up during my treatments.  The first and most difficult is neuropathy in both of my feet and hands.  Both of my feet have developed drop foot as a result of this.  So not only do my feet hurt and are numb all over, I also have to wear a brace all the time in order to get around.  Moving about is not something I look forward to atoud all.  In my hands, it’s my pinkie finger, both of which are numb, and the finger next to it, which is about half numb.

The second issue is my right shoulder, which is not functioning at all.  The fortunate thing about it is that I have no pain in the shoulder.  I am working with a neurologist on both of these issues and can only hope there is some solution.

Of course, I know my healer is Jesus, and I trust that H will heal me in His time, and that he will give me the strength to endure until the healing comes.  He has been very merciful to me, and I love Him with all my life!

I thank you again for your prayers and support.  One of the big pluses for me through this whole thing is that I have become involved in this community of bloggers, and it has brought me a lot of joy.  You are wonderful people, and I am blessed to have the time now to stay involved.   God bless you all!
