The Cross For Me

The cross stood there before you
Ready to take your life
You were beaten, mocked and tortured
As the crowd cried crucify

They led you up a mountain
Exhausted you complied
Then they laid you on that cross
To suffer, bleed and die

Nails were swiftly driven
Through your wrists and feet
They raised the cross up high
So that all the world could see

All through that agony and pain
You never said a word
No slight complaint or whisper
Did you utter in return

Just a few hours later
It is finished you cried out
In that moment all of heaven
Let out a painful shout

The Son of God had given up
His life for you and me
Heaven’s Lamb, the King of Glory
Gave sin it’s last defeat

They laid Him in a borrowed tomb
A stone was put in place
Yet in three days it rolled away
From death to life, He raised

He raised my hope for heaven
He raised my peace from pain
He raised my joy from sorrow
He gave me life again

Oh, what a precious Savior
Is Jesus Christ my Lord
Forever I will praise Him
For the cross for me He bore

What Is it?

What is it that makes me love Him so?
Is it the joy in my heart or the peace in my soul?
Or is it the fact that He gave up His life
To die on a cross so long ago

What is it that causes my heart to sing?
Is it the pain that He heals or the faith that He brings?
Or is it the fact that He rose up again
Giving hope amidst everything

What is it that makes my praise to arise?
Is it all that He taught just to open my eyes?
Or is it that He will one day return
And meet me way up in the sky

Whatever it is that causes these things
I hope that they always remain
My love and my song and the praise that I bring
Will always be full of amens

Amen that He came from His heavenly throne
Amen that He made a manger His home 
Amen that He healed everyone that He touched
Amen that He taught us that He was enough
Amen that He suffered and died for my sin
Amen that He gave me new life within
Amen that He rose up alive from the grave
Amen that He promised me heaven one day

All these amens and so many more
Are due to the one that I so adore
My praise and my worship never will cease
‘Til I rest in His arms and my life is complete

Make It So

I feast on the bread of this world
Instead of the bread of Life
I drink from my cup and my glass
Instead of the Living Water
I wake up to cares of this world
Rather then thoughts for your word
I’m not sure what I’m searching for
But I know what I need from my Father

I need a deeper desire to learn
A deeper desire to pray
A deeper desire to walk with you
A deeper desire to praise

Make it so, Lord
Make it so today
Let not another day go by
That I do not walk in your way
Fill me with your grace and mercy
Help me give it out to the world
Make it so, Lord.  Make it so
Make it so today.

He Breaks Me Down

He breaks me down, so he can build me up.
He pours me out so he can fill my cup
He dries me out so I will thirst for him.
He wears me down to lift me up again

His desire is to reach into my heart
take the old man out and make me new
His desire is to empty me of me
And fill me up with everything brand new

He uses trials in my life to show me I am weak
He uses every circumstance to build my faith
When I give my life to him and fully trust his grace
I will see his mercy working every day

He builds me up whenever I break down.
He fills my cup when I have been poured out
He satisfies the thirsting of my soul.
He lifts me up when life has got me down

His desire is to put his hope in me,
Drive away my doubt, and lift my faith
His desire is to fill me with his joy
And overwhelming peace every day

He uses trials in my life to show me I am weak
He uses every circumstance to build my faith
When I give my life to him and fully trust his grace
I will see his mercy working every day

Once Upon A Time

Once upon a time there was a garden
Where everything was good and right for all
God set down.one rule for man to follow
In order to stay pure and never fall

Once upon a time there was a serpent 
Who tempted man to break the rule God made
Man tasted of the fruit that was forbidden 
And on the day he fell from God's good grace

Once upon a time there was a baby
Who truly came from God to make things right
He grew in wisdom and He taught the masses
What it means to walk in holy light

Once upon a time the priests were angry
And they arranged to put this man to death
The did not realize they were fulfilling 
The prophecies of old that they had read 

Once upon a time they bruised and beat Him
They hung Him on a cross until He died 
But then the third day came with big surprises 
The tomb was empty and He was alive

Once upon a time this man named Jesus
Redeemed us all from all our sin and shame
He took the stripes to heal our broken bodies 
And renewed our Covenant with God again

I know this poem reads quite like a fable
And sounds like it is to good to be true
But I assure you now it really happened
That the Son of God came down to earth for you

He came to show us how much He does love us
He came to being new life to everyone 
Today won't you please give your life to Jesus 
And you will know the victory is won.

What Do I See

I look in the mirror and what do I see
But my old soul looking back at me 
Decrepit and sinful as I can be
I need someone to set me free 

Free from the burden I carry each day
Free from the trials that get in my way
Free from the hurt, the sorrow, the shame
Free from a life that has lost its way 

What will it take to restore my soul?
Who can redeem me and make me whole?
Who can make new something so old?
Who can make free that which sin controls?

I pick up a book that I never have read
I read of a man who came back from the dead 
He promised he'd give me a new life ahead
If I'd just believe and from my sin repent 

I fall on my knees and lift up my voice
I make up my mind and I make a new choice 
No longer will I live without any joy
I will follow Jesus and make Him my Lord

I look in the mirror and what do I see
But a soul that is saved and from sin set free
A new life was born when He heard my plea
What a great Savior is Jesus to me

In The Still Of The Night

In the still of the night hear the bullfrogs
As they fill the night air with their cries
They sit by the side of their dwelling
Daring someone to catch them alive

In the still of the night see the stars shine
Looking upward their glory I see
The light that they give travels onward
My wonder it will never cease

In the still of the night feel the cool breeze
As it whisks away all of the heat
I look forward to that brisk feeling
From the top of my head to my feet

In the still of the night God is speaking
Through the sounds, sights and feelings I have
There is no mistaking His presence
As I take in the cool night air

I hope that he always comes calling
As I walk by the wayside each day
If I open my ears and I listen
I the still of the night He is there

I was blind and I could not find my way
All my sin was too heavy 
My mistakes had destroyed me
I was ready to give up and fade away

There is Nothing He Can’t Do

Where there is no way, God will make one
He has promised in Hi word He’ll see us through
Where there is no hope, God will give some
There is nothing that’s too hard for Him to do

Where there is no joy, God will show up
He can make every sorrow disappear
Where there is no peace, storms will dry up
He can calm the highest waves and deepest fear

I need to be reminded of the price you paid for me
When you left your throne in heaven and came to rescue me
I need to be reminded as a baby you arrived
There was no one here to greet you but some shepherds on that night

I need to be reminded of the lessons that you taught
As you walked on this earth as a man and not as God
I need to be reminded of the works that you performed
There were many who believed and many who would harm

I need to be reminded of the price you paid for me
When you suffered and died that day on Calvary
I need to be reminded of the suffering and the pain
As they beat you and bruised you again and again

I need to be reminded that you rose again that day
Up from the grave to open heavens gates
I need to be reminded that you reign eternally
I know there is a mansion up in heaven just for me

I need to be reminded that your story has been told
In the Bible it was written by men so long ago
I need to be reminded to spend my time each day
In the pages of your book where your words are there to stay

I need to be reminded that my life is in your hands
That you care for me and hope for me to walk in your great plan
I need to be reminded to spend time in prayer each day
And to lift my eyes to heaven and give you all my praise
