Focus

In the morning I put in my contacts
When I look up they need to align
I take a quick wink
Then hurry a blink
And finally my focus arrives

My phone has a nice built in camera
That I use rather sparingly
My hand has a shake
Like a mild earthquake
The focus just won’t quite agree

There are times my mind wanders from reason
I just can’t seem to focus on God
I’ve succumbed to sin
Or I’ve struggled within
I have walked off the path of the Lord

When a finally realize what’s happened
I need to repent of my ways
Just bow my head down
Kneel in prayer on the ground
Asking God to forgive my disgrace

He is faithful and just to forgive me
He’ll restore me to His righteous side
His joy and His peace
Will put me at ease
As my focus in Him does abide

Why should I ever fear inside
When His thoughts are on me

Why should I fuss and fret
Why should I lose my peace
Why should my joy be down
When His mind is stayed on me

His thoughts are precious
Precious toward me
His thoughts are countless
Like sand by the sea
I cam not fathom
His love for me

Why would my troubles throw me
Why would I oft feel lonely
Why would my hope escape me
When His precious thoughts touch me

Mercy abounding
Grace everlasting

If I wait until I have the time I’ll fail to ever praise Him

My day is always full of things to do

I have time to eat and sleep and work a list I made ahead

Making sure I do the things I have to do

If I look around to find the time I’ll fail to lift my worship

The time to finish all just can’t be found

My list just keeps on growing from one day to the next

Worshiping is just some time that can’t be found

I’ve heard both of these stories

I’ve heard their seeming truth

So here is what I recommend you do

Make the time

Make it first

Before the day consumes all time

Before your day gets out of line

Make the time

Put Him first

Lift up your voice in praise

Let holy hands be raised

Make the time

You say your time is limited you have so much to do

There aren’t enough hours left in any day

These things down on your list are a must from dawn til dark

If you tell me that here is what I’ll say

Five minutes earlier ten is better yet

Before you get one foot away from bed

Lift your praises high let your worship begin

His glory will soon fill your heart and head

Then you’ll find your day goes better

You’ll have more to get things

You’ll find time to give Him thanks along the way

I never will forget
The day He set me free
When I learned about the cross at Calvary

His sacrifice that day
Mercy flowed from His wounds and rendered grace

He took all of my shame
He healed my every pain
The burden of my sin was lifted off

Gave me faith and hope instead of all my doubt

There are days when my heart grows weary
I don’t feel I can carry on
The worries of life overtake me
I can feel so all alone

Then I hear the voice of my Savior
Speaking softly in my ear
Gentle words of His blessed assurance
That He is always near

He gives me peace when there is no peace
He gives me joy when there is no joy
He gives me hope when all hope is gone
He sends His love to comfort my soul

When there’s no rest
When I’m not my best
He gives me His all
Oh what a Savior
Oh what a friend

When I hear the voice of my Savior
I am lifted to higher ground
There’s no longer a need for anguish
His presence is in that sweet sound

I determine to spend my days seeking
His face and His will for me
In the hope that I’ll never grow weary again

If it’s finance woes indeed He can
If you need a miracle
If it seems impossible
You can always rest assured He can

If a storm needs moved away He can
If a night needs to be day He can
If a mountain needs to move
If a neighbor bothers you
You can always rest assured He can

He parted the Red Sea
He rained manna from the sky
He brought water from a rock
He brought quails all piled high

He stopped the sun and moon
He shut the Lions mouth
He fed Jonah to a whale
He turned enemies about

He raised children from the dead
He turned water into wine
He fed thousands with one lunch
He healed lame and deaf and blind

If He did this all before
He can do it all again
He doesn’t change
His love remains
Call on Him and you will win

Just one warning I will give
He’ll not regard your prayer
If your mind still dwells on sin
My dear friends please beware (1)
Of your life is pure today
Then whatever you will pray
In His time the answer comes
Because He can

The Eyes of Jesus

I dreamed I was walking down the street
Saw a beggar begging bread
I drop a few coins in His tin cup
Then on down the street I head

I sew a drunk man crossing the street
Has trouble finding his way
I take his arm to help him across
Then continue on with my day

I saw three young men coming my way
Their clothing and look was a mess
I bowed my head and walked silently
So as not to give them offense

What did I see when I looked at them all
Through these judgmental eyes of mine
Did my pride rise up and see their sin
Or did His mercy fill up my eyes

With all the hatred throughout our land
The church needs to rise up tall
One by one we must take a stand
And humble ourselves at the cross

He looked on us full of compassion
No matter what filled up our lives
He cried Father forgive them for you and I
As He hung His head and died

If I’ll look with the eyes of Jesus
Full of compassion and love
Perhaps I can plant a seed in their lives
And turn their hearts above

Help me Lord when I cross their paths
To see the sinner and not the sin
Give me courage to share your love with them
Give me the right words within

Make me humble and down to earth
Make me appeal to their needs
Help me to find some common ground
Help me to plant a seed
