Final Words

https://suno.com/s/YTmT0hKrhFnjlBjR

His breath was heavy
Constricted by the cross
Nails in His feet and hands
His words were at a loss

Hanging in that place
Bearing all my sin
He spoke these words of life
That we might live again

He said “I thirst” and showed His weakness
Becoming open to His need of God
He could not drink alone, but needed help
Asking for compassion from all of us

These words are words of life, and not of death
These words were spoken with His final breath

The words of Jesus on that cross
His breath defeated, His life a loss
His words bring victory to all who hear
And know the meaning of His final words

He said, “It is finished”, and then He died
The work of redemption, sin crucified
His work in the end was crying out
Needing what he could not give Himself

These words are words of life, and not of death
These words were spoken with His final breath

The words of Jesus on that cross
His breath defeated, His life a loss
His words bring victory to all who hear
And know the meaning of His final words

And in the midst of it all He said forgive them
For they know not what they do
His words ring down through the ages
That we should always live with gratitude
Forgiving those who wrong us
Thirsting for their love
Knowing it is finished
And Jesus dwells above

These words are words of life, and not of death
These words were spoken with His final breath

The words of Jesus on that cross
His breath defeated, His life a loss
His words bring victory to all who hear
I pray that you will hear Him today

The Two Spectators

He sat there
The blind beggar
Behind the crowd
Begging for alms
He heard someone say Jesus was coming
He heard that Jesus opened blinded eyes
Could He do it for me?
Said Bartimaeus
He started to cry out
Jesus, thou Son of David
Have mercy on me
The crowd tried to quiet him
But Jesus came closer
Bartimaeus cried louder
Louder than the crowd
Jesus heard him and stopped
Called him forward
The crowd helped him up
Pushed him toward Jesus
Jesus asked what he wanted
He asked for his sight
And his wish was granted
His eyes were opened
He praised God
And followed Jesus

He lay there
Dead and buried
Grave clothes encased him
He’d been sick for days
They sent for Jesus, his friend
But Jesus did not come
It seemed he didn’t car
Lazarus knew Jesus could heal him
If He had only come
Now it was too late
Now He was dead
Jesus came after the funeral
Mary and Martha asked Him where He was
If he had only come
Jesus wept in sorrow
His friend was dead
But Jesus knew this was not unto death
He said role the stone away
He cried Lazarus come forth
And he did
Still wrapped in those grave clothes
Jesus said unwrap him
They unwrapped him
He was alive
And he followed Jesus

The crowd gathered in the city
Singing Hosannah
Waving palm branches
Throwing their cloaks before Him
As Jesus entered the city
Meek and lowly
Riding on a donkey
They thronged Him
Lazarus was there
Bartimaeus was there
Hailing Him
Thanking Him
For His touch
For His healing
The Pharisees mocked Him
Tried to put Him to shame
He told them the rocks would praise Him if the people did not
They plotted to kill Him
They would not let Him steal their crowd
He overturned the money changers tables
They were thieves
In His house of worship
The scribes sought to kill Him
That was their money
Lazarus and Bartimaeus watched
Thrilled with anticipation

He taught the crowd
He told them stories
Parables about life
About the last days
About 10 virgins
About a prodigal son
About a good Samaritan
They heard Him rebuke the scribes and Pharisees
They heard Him say he would come in glory
Lazarus and Bartimaeus were excited
Then they heard He had been taken in the night
The blessed night of the Passover
They heard He had been betrayed
He had been denied by His disciples
He had been condemned to die
They gathered with the crowd
The same crowd that cheered Him 4 days before
The temple leaders told them they must deny Him
Or be thrown from the temple
The crowd cried crucify Him
Crucify Him
Give us Barabbas instead
Lazarus and Bartimaeus were in disbelief
They whipped Him
Beat Him
Spit in Him
Mocked Him
Put a crown of thorns on His head
Out His cross on His back
Made Him carry it down the via Delarosa
All the way to Golgotha
Lazarus and Bartimaeus watched as he fell under the weight
A man named Simon helped Him
The laid Him in the cross
Nailed His hands and feet
Raised up that cross
Bartimaeus thought “He restored my sight to see this?”
Lazarus thought “He brought me back to life to see Him die?”
They were heart-broken
Yet they followed Him

The skies darkened at mid-day
He let out a cry
“Father forgive them. They know not what they do.”
Then “It is finished”
He hung His head
And He died
Lazarus and Bartimaeus stood side by side
They wept
They saw Joseph take the body
They followed to the garden
They wept
And wept
They did not understand
Why give me my sight to see this?
Why raise me up from the dead to see this?
They went back to the city and stayed there
They did not want to leave
They had no reason to leave

Then the sabbath day passed
They heard someone cry
He’s alive
Jesus is alive
They ran to the tomb
Saw the stone rolled away
Jumping and shouting and praising God
They rejoiced
Bartimaeus could see the empty tomb!
Lazarus knew what it was to raise from the dead
They knew
Beyond a shadow of a doubt
Jesus was alive
Alive forevermore
Alive for all to see
Alive for all to gain life!

The Great Victory

I looked at the cross and what did I see
But Jesus my Lord looking down at me
His body was bloody and filled with pain
Then I heard Him say "I will rise again"

This cross is simply a means to an end
Soon I will die and this pain will end
They will put my body in a borrowed grave
It will seem like all hope had been erased

A stone will be rolled across the door
Guards will be placed to make it secure
I will be busy behind the scenes
Leaving this grave to take back the keys

I'll enter the realm of the devil himself
And demand that he give me the keys he has held
These keys give release from hell and the grave
So that all who had loved me now will be raised

Then I will roll the stone from the grave
The guards will be stunned and will fall down in place
I will rise victorious over death and the grave
And you will be granted new life in my name

A life filled with hope and joy and peace
A life where my mercy and grace never cease
Don't worry my child, do not be afraid
This cross that I bear brings a victory so great

If He Loves Me

If He loves me why do I suffer
If He loves me why do I hurt
If He loves me why do the trials of my life bring trouble at every turn
If He loves me why do I tremble
at what the next day will bring
If He loves me when will He come to my side and remove all the things that sting

Isn’t it enough that He died for me to take away my sins?
Isn’t it enough that the comforter comes to settle your heart within?
All that this life will throw at you will never compare to His love
So when trials and tests try to steal all your rest
Come to Jesus for He is enough

His love is always there.  It is always a comfort, always a resting place when trouble comes.  We don’t have to wonder if he loves us if we will just look at the cross.  Look at what he went through for you.  Look at how much He suffered because he loves you.  There is no pain greater than the pain of His heart breaking when the Father turned His head and darkness covered the sky.  He had never been separated from His Father, not for all eternity past.  And yet for three hours, He was covered with sin, and the Father could not look.  That is how much Jesus loves you and me.

When trouble surround you and it seems that a temptation is too hard to bear, get that picture of the cross in your mind.  Think about Jesus on that cross.  In your minds eye look at the blood dripping down from His brow.  Look at the tears in His flesh.  Look at the nails in His feet and hands.  Look at His love poured out.  This is the image that will get you through your tests and trials.  He loved you so much that he stretched out His hands and died for you.  Isn’t that enough?  Does He really need to do any more for you to show you His love?

John 3:16
For God so loved the world that he gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believed in Him would have everlasting life.

He Did It All For Me

As I approached the cross
I could hardly look
At the body that was Christ
At the agony he bore
Tears welled up in my eyes
As I saw the crown of thorns
He took it all for me

I saw the stripes they gave’
Wrapped around His frame
I saw the nails they drove
Into His feet and hands
I saw the blood run down
How could he even talk
He did it all for me

I saw Him grasp for breath
Just enough to breathe
But suddenly He spoke
Words that pierced the air
Father forgive them
They know not what they do
With those words He forgave me and you

Forgiven.  I’m forgiven
I’m set free from guilt and shame
Forgiven.  I’m forgiven
I’m set free and I’ll praise His name
Jesus Christ my victory
He did it all for me
He did it all for you
He did it all for all.

Victory by Death

He was beaten, bruised and torn
His body tired and worn
Yet he did not speak a word in His defense
A crown of thorns upon His head
His forehead slowly bled
Then pain and agony was quite intense

Then they placed a robe upon Him
With a scepter in His hands
The guard knelt down and mocked Him as a King
Little did they know their words
Were true through all of time
Because He was indeed the King of Kings

The cross was laid upon His back
He fell beneath its weight
His weak and bloody body just gave out
They led Him to Golgotha
They nailed Him to the cross
Forgive them was His final living shout

They thought they had the victory
But soon they would find out
That what they did would touch all of mankind
Three days He laid a dead man
But then He rose again
The victory over life and death complete

He brought us victory that day
He showed us His amazing grace
By dying and then rising up again
Now we should live for Him
His Word deep down within
For soon He will be coming back again

The Wondrous Gift

A brand new Christmas song. Words and video are here.

Oh, to see the light the shines in the darkness
Oh, to see the place where my Lord was born
Oh, to hear the angels sing their praises
On that blessed Christmas morn

Oh, to hear the baby cry in the manger
Oh, to see how Mary loved Him so
Oh, to see how Joseph held Him closely
On that blessed Christmas morn

CHORUS
I wish that I had been there
I wish that I had seen
The wondrous gift was given
For all the world to see
But He said it is greater
That I would still believe
For though I was not there that day
He came to die for me

Oh, I want to turn my face from His suff’ring
Oh, I want to turn my face from His pain
Oh, I want to hear Him cry forgive them
Oh, I want to see Him rise again
Oh, I want to see Him rise again

On that blessed Christmas born
The Son of God was born
To take away our sins
To make us free within
What a wondrous gift
What a wondrous gift
What a wondrous gift God gave

CHORUS

At the Foot of the Cross

I wrote this song several years ago but don;t think I ever posted it here. This is a good time to do that!

At the foot of the cross, the blood drips down
From the nails in his feet and the thorns in his brow
A crimson pool gathers there on the ground
At the foot of the cross.

CHORUS
There is forgiveness at the foot of the cross
Mercy unending, at such a great cost
Grace everlasting, eternal and free
At the foot of the cross

At the foot of the cross, my tears pour out
I am free from my fear, free from my doubt
I found a Savior to turn me about
At the foot of the cross

CHORUS

At the foot of the cross, I now kneel in prayer
To my wonderful savior, who died for me there
He has risen to Heaven, and will soon take me there
From the foot of the cross.

CHORUS

REFRAIN
Grace everlasting, eternal and free
At the foot of the cross. At the foot of the cross

What Can I Do But Praise You

It will never be enough
No matter what I do
To pay you back for what you’ve done for me
I can’t even count the cost
That you redeemed that day
When you gave your life away at Calvary

Bruised and beaten crowned with thorns
Nails put in your feet and hands
You suffered for my sins upon that tree
Then you rose up from the grave
Forever you will be with me
Oh what wondrous love you have shown to me

What can I do but praise you
What can I do but worship your sweet name
Hallelujah
What can I do but thank you
For all the blessings you have given me
Hallelujah

You are my Lord forever
You are my friend forever
You are my King forever
Bless your holy name
Bless your holy name

What can I do but praise you
What can I do but worship your sweet name
Hallelujah
What can I do but thank you
For all the blessings you have given me
Hallelujah
