He Taught Us

He taught us obedience when He left heaven
Left His throne to come to earth
Left His glory to take on flesh
Left the praise to come and die

He taught us humility when He was born
In a lowly stable filled with hay
Wrapped with rags and settled in a manger
Born on earth to die for me

He taught us patience as He grew
Quiet submission to His father here
Learning life with no fanfare
Waiting for His day to arrive

He taught us submission when He was baptized
Knelt before John in the river Jordan
Ready to take on the mantle prepared for Him
Acknowledged as God’s son forever

He taught us compassion as He went
Town to town, touching the people
Answering questions meant to condemn Him
Meekness empowered in His loving eyes

He taught us wisdom as He was tried
Wrongly accused and condemned to die
His words would be futile, so He stayed silent
Ready to fulfill His mission in life

He taught us peace as He went toward the cross
Beaten and bruised, He was quiet through all
From the garden to Calvary there was no complaint
Died on that cross for me

He taught us hope as He rose from the grave
Back to the Father in heaven above
Giving us victory that will never fade
Oh what a Savior we have

This Thanksgiving Day

Blossoming flowers
Birds in the air
Rain in due season
Clouds white and fair

Moon in last quarter
Stars shining bright
Sun in the heavens
Giving us light

These are things I love in my life
These are the things that make me smile
These are the things for which I give thanks
This Thanksgiving Day

Food on the table
Smells like a dream
Choices of drinks
Pie with whipped cream

Family around us
How blessed we are
People that care
Both near and afar

These are things I love in my life
These are the things that make me smile
These are the things for which I give thanks
This Thanksgiving Day

Joy overflows
Peace overcomes
Love overwhelms
Thanksgiving has come

Most of all thanks
For mercy and grace
That comes from my God
This Thanksgiving Day

These are things I love in my life
These are the things that make me smile
These are the things for which I give thanks
This Thanksgiving Day

His Plan

Tiny granules of gleaming white sand
Slither through the hourglass of time
That signifies my lifespan
I cannot see this occurrence
I know not how much sand has emptied itself
From top to bottom
Nor can I perceive how much remains
To still work it’s way through
I am completely at God’s mercy
Then I make a perceived costly mistake
As I proceed down the pathway of life
I pause
I imagine that I have damaged my relationship
With my God who controls the sand
Has the plan been altered
Has the master removed some sand
Have a done irreparable damage
To the outcome
I ponder
Do I really think I am powerful enough
To upset the meticulous plans
Of Almighty God
Who formed me in my mother’s womb
Who knew me before He formed me
Who knows all from beginning end
Reality enters my mind and my spirit
As I acknowledge His authority
To allow whatever is needed into my life
To mold and make me into His perfect vessel
I humbly ask for His mercy
I give Him thanks for giving me this trial
I accept with joy this challenge
I lift my hands in praise
To Him who sits on the throne
I proceed

The Humble Heart

I saw the angels gather
By the throne of God
Before the sun had dawned one cloudy day
I strained to hear them talking
And then the angels said
Lord, how can we go bless someone today

God smiled and nodded slowly
That question pleased Him so
He rose up from His throne and all got still
His voice then filled the heaven’s
I could hear the words He said
I’ll write them here so you can know His will

Bring peace to those that fear
Bring joy to those that weep
Bring hope to all who think their life is bleak
Bring healing to the sick
Deliverance to the bound
Bring strength to all who tremble and are weak

Give sight to all the blind
Give hearing to the deaf
Give words to those whose tongues have never talked
Wisdom to the seekers
Knowledge to the teachers
Give strength to all the lame who’ve never walked

The angels listened closely
As the master spoke these words
They sang hallelujah when He sat back down
Then one spoke up for all of them
Lord we gladly will do all
Just tell us which ones need which blessing now

God leaned over to the angels
I will not forget His words
Just listen to their prayers was His reply
Give ear to intercessors
As they lift up their requests
Fulfill the cries of those with humble hearts

The angels then retreated
They headed down to earth
One question filled my heart and mind day
When I lift up my voice
In petition to the Lord
Is it with a humble heart that I pray

I Thank You Lord

For the birds that sing
For the bright sunshine
For the air I breath
I thank you Lord

For the rain that comes
For the stars at night
For the gentle breeze
I thank you Lord

For a heart that beats
For a mind that thinks
For a soul that’s saved
I thank you Lord

For the peace that stills
For a joy that that flows
For enduring hope
I thank you Lord

For a loving wife
For three sweet girls
For five grand kids
I thank you Lord

For a praying church
For my firm Pastor
For good fellowship
I thank you Lord

For your great love
For mercy grand
For amazing grace
I thank you Lord

For God the Father
For Christ the Son
For the Holy Spirit
I thank you Lord

I thank you Lord
For all I have
I give to you
All that I am

I honor you
With all my praise
As everyday
I thank you Lord

Will You Be Jesus To Me

I am the man on the street
Watching His life go by
I lost my job
My wife and kids
I just cannot figure out why

So I sit day by day in the gutter
Looking for some food to eat
A handout would help
As I beg for bread
A touch from the Master I need

Will you be Jesus to me
Will you help me today
Help me find my way
Could you be Jesus to me?
I need some help
I can’t find my way
I need His touch today

I am a woman who’s lost
I was thrown out of my house
My money is gone
I’m broken and bruised
I was abandoned by my spouse

The street has been cruel to me
I have sold myself for bread
So many bad men
Have treated me mean
I need God’s touch instead

Will you be Jesus to me
Will you help me today
Help me find my way
Could you be Jesus to me?
I need some help
I can’t find my way
I need His touch today

I watch as people walk by me each day
They shake their heads and just walk away
One touch from Jesus can ease all my pain
Are you a Christian? Do you know His name?

Will you be Jesus to me
Will you help me today
Help me find my way
Could you be Jesus to me?
I need some help
I can’t find my way
I need His touch today

Jesus, Lord of Everything

Let all the earth declare
That Jesus Christ is Lord
Every nation, every tongue, every tribe
Let voices raise
His name be praised
Let hands be lifted high

Let all the saints proclaim
The glory of His name
From dawn until the setting sun
From every mouth
There rings a shout
In glorious adoration

Let Hallelujahs rise
To Jesus Christ our King
He’s Worthy of the highest praise
He reigns above
We shout or love
To our blessed Saviors name

Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Glory to our God and King
Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Jesus Lord of everything

His Healing Touch

Oh, what a glorious Savior we have
He touches in so many ways
Not just those in His day
But today
In my life
He gave His healing touch

He opened the eyes of the blind
By His touch and by His word
He opens my blind eyes
Letting His light
Show me His truth

He opened the ears of the deaf
They could finally hear the sounds
He opens my deaf ears
He asks me to listen
To His still, small voice

He loosened the tongue of the dumb
Finally they could speak
He tames my wayward tongue
He asks me to speak His truth
To all that I may see

He made the lame to walk
When they had been laid up long
He asks me to walk in the spirit
Not according to my flesh
To be a witness for Him

He cast out the demons of some
Freeing them from their chains
He delivers me from sin
Cleansing my soul
As I confess my wary ways

He removed the leper’s spots
Making them whole again
He cleans me from inside out
My mind is transformed
My spirit made whole

He raised the dead to life
Death had no hold on them
He quickens my soul to new life
A life that grows within
Working its way out

He wants to touch you too
To do all these things
In your life
Let Him give you
His healing touch

Lead Me

I rarely can see where He’s leading

I often must simply obey

My walk is by faith

As I quietly wait

While He leads my along the way

His plan will unfold before me

The road always turns for my good

No matter the test

My soul can find rest

When I know that He’ll carry me through

Lead me, Lord, lead me today

I’ll follow you through the fire

Lead me by your Holy Spirit

Your will is my desire

You always know my limitations

You stretch my faith further each day

I know I’ll come through

When I trust in you

As I quietly learn to obey

No test too hard

No trial to big

No turn to sharp

No time to think

Simply by faith

You’ll bring me through

As long as my faith remains

Lead me, Lord, lead me today

I’ll follow you through the fire

Lead me by your Holy Spirit

Your will is my desire

One More Day

Slivered sunbeams touch the gray clouds at morn
As rising sunlight begins the clouds to adorn
Shimmering red and orange fills the coming dawn
You’ve granted me one more day

Slipping slowly out from the comfort of bed
Opening eyes wiping the sleep from my head
Feet hit the floor standing I slowly tread
I praise you for one more day

Your mercy is overwhelming
Your grace washes over me
Your love surrounds me in the air I breath
You are all I need

Solemnly sifting through the truth in your book
Studying how you bless those that look
I am grateful that me you have not forsook
I will give to you this one more day

You owe me nothing
Yet you grant me breathe
I am but dust
Yet you gave up your life
I often fail
Yet your faithful to me
Marvelous wonderful Lord

Your mercy is overwhelming
Your grace washes over me
Your love surrounds me in the air I breath
You are all I need

You owe me nothing
Yet you grant me breathe
I am but dust
Yet you gave up your life
I often fail
Yet your faithful to me
Marvelous wonderful Lord
