Be Still

I’m not sure how much more trouble I can take
I feel that I’m alone about to break
My time is quite filled up
His life is not enough
My wandering mind keeps getting in my way

I cry out to God, “Oh, Lord what can I do?
It seems that I am floundering without you”
Then I hear your voice reply
“Child, look up to the sky.
I am always here and want to talk to you.

Be still and know my peace
Be still and know my joy
Be still and hear my voice
I will speak to you through the noise
Be still and find new hope
Be still and feel my love
Be still and I will guide you
Until you reach your home above

I hear His sweet words and myself
How can I find a place where I can be still
Then I start to realize
That such a place is disguised
Because anywhere He can meet with me

I sit down on the deck in silence
I do all I can be quiet
As the minutes pass by
My thoughts all but die
Until only His voice I hear

Mercy and Grace Never Fail

I have these muscles that tighten and cramp
My eyes see double or their focus is bad
It seems that old age is drowning my strength
This life brings so many ailments I’ve had 

Arthritis in my fingers brings pain every day
Quite often I cough when I eat way to fast
My feet ache when walking or standing to long
But none of these aches and pains will last

But your mercy and grace never fail
Your peace and your joy will always prevail
The hope that you give me brightens my days
The love that you have for me always will stay

All pains will one day be wiped away
As your healing takes over this body of clay
No tears will abide as I walk by your side
Forever I’ll be in your care

Because mercy and grace never fail

The Good Stuff

There’s a country song I hear at work every day
It has a nice chorus that is easy to say
But the truth that it tells is certain enough
“Dad makes good whiskey but God makes the good stuff”

The good stuff that God makes is stark in contrast
To the whiskey that might be drunk from a flask
It got me to thinking about all the things
That the blessing of God to me each day brings

Whiskey inebriates ‘til we’ve lost control
God gives His Spirit to guide us all home
Whiskey tastes bitter and softens the mind
God’s word is sweet to the soul all the time

Whiskey gives mornings when sickness will last
God give the sunrise whose beauty is vast
Whiskey makes evenings bewildered and blind
God makes sunsets that are wonderfully fine

Whiskey can make our decisions quite wrong
God gives us wisdom to help us along 
Whiskey can cost us our lives after time
God gives new life that’s eternally mine

Whiskey will lead us down dangerous roads
God guides us gently and carries our load
Whiskey can bring us to a crash of the mind
God keeps us safe in His arms all the time

You see my dear friends that this song is true
But the truth in its words I think hide from you
All of this good stuff that God has in store
Is only for you if you’ll give Him more

More of your heart to Him every day
More of your mind and more of your ways
More of your strength needs to come from Him
More of your soul must be cleansed within

Today if that whiskey is lord of your life
Why not give that up for the Lord Jesus Christ
He will bless you beyond your wildest dreams
Repent today and in Jesus believe

It’s been a while since I knelt bedside my bed and prayed
It’s been a while since I opened up the book and read
It’s been a while since I lifted up my arms in praise
But you have been here all along with your amazing grace

It’s been a while since I listened for your words of love
It’s been a while since I thought about your throne above
It’s been a while since I realized you are enough
But you have been there all the time with your redeeming love

Oh God, I miss my talks with you
The fulness of my walks with you
Oh God, I’ve moved so far away from you
Please help me find a way back to your unfailing grace
Have mercy on me now, my Lord, I pray

It’s time to kneel down by my bed to pray
And read the words of your amazing grace
I need to lift my arms and give you praise
For you have been right by me all the way

I soon forget that you are near
And that my prayers you always hear
I must remember that you love me all the time
Help me to see you by my side
Help me to know that you abide
Speak to my heart and open up my simple mind

Constant

The temperature goes where nobody knows
Unpredictable highs followed by lows
Even experts predict as part of a show
But they only prove that they do not know

My days seem to bounce up and down like a ball
One day I am happy, the next sorrow for all
I try to pick up, but find that I fall
I can’t even hear when my Savior does call

And others seem likely to be just the same
It’s like being different is some kind of game
One day they smile and the next they give blame
I never do know if they’re crazy or sane

But there is one thing that is constant and true
The love of my Savior will always come through
His friendship is there in the midst of the storm
He’ll walk with my daily and help keep me calm

He brings the sun up and sets it back down
He places the stars and He waters the ground
He causes the waves to come back to the shore
He brings the lightning and thunder that roars

His grace always covers my multiple sins
His mercy comes running and soothes me within
I can’t walk a step where His peace stays behind
And the joy that He gives will never run dry

Oh, the great love of Jesus is kind and it’s real
He’s faithful to be there when life takes a spill
He’ll always uphold me and always defend
His love is constant all the way to the end

The Power That He Has

I have seen the mighty river that cascade to the shore
I have seen the waves come crashing with a mighty roar
The power that they generate bring light to every door
But there is no power greater than my Lord

I have seen the clouds reach heaven as the storm begins to build
I have seen the lightning flash from the sky down to the field
The power that flash generates no man can know it’s yield
But there is no power greater than my Lord 

The power that He has brings sight to the blind
The power that He has turns water into wine
The power that He has can make the lame to walk
The power that He has can make a donkey talk
The power that He has put the stars inn place
The power that He has placed earth into its place
The power that He has knocks down city walls
The power that He has makes seas part into halls
The power that He has can make the leper whole
The power that He has can transform your very soul
The power that He has brings victory all the time
The power that He has is forever mine
For I’ve accepted Jesus as my Savior and my Lord
If you will do the same, this power can be yours.

I'd be richer than the richest man the world has ever known
Yet I would be a pauper, stranded and alone 

If I spoke with grand words that motivated you
Or if I was an actor whose movies all would view 
I would be quite famous, a person you all knew
Yet I would be alone, Lord, if I did not have you
