My Child

When I woke up this morning, I heard Jesus
He was calling out my name loud and clear
I rose up from my bed and said I’m here Lord
Please speak your words of comfort in my ear

He said I love you son
I said I love you Lord
He said I’m with you everywhere you go
He said I’ll lead you, Son
I said I’ll follow, Lord
He said You’re my child forevermore

As I go about my daily preparation
I keep listening to hear the words He says
If we block out all the noise that this world offers
We can know His voice is there throughout the day

He says I’ll heal you son
I say forgive me Lord
He says I forgave all your sins upon the cross
He says I’ll give you peace
I say my words of praise
He says you’re my child forevermore

My child I’m with you in the darkest moments
My child I’m with you in the raging storm
My child I’ll lift you up out of the valley
And set your feet on the solid ground

He said I love you son
I said I love you Lord
He said I’m with you everywhere you go
He said I’ll lead you, Son
I said I’ll follow, Lord
He said You’re my child forevermore

The Voice of My Heart

What does it matter Lord?  Why am I here?
What is my purpose Lord?  Please make it clear.
I’m praying daily and hoping you hear
The voice of my heart cries out.

What does it mean that I write these words?
What is your will for the thoughts of this verse?
I try to listen.  Each day I am yours
The voice of my heart cries out.

Hearing your voice means more to me
Than what I should smell or what I should eat.
Whenever I hear your voice start to speak
I sit down and write your words

I pray that these words will bring comfort to all
No matter how big.  No matter how small,
That these words my keep them from having a fall
 Drawing them closer to you

So I end this verse by giving you praise
I lift up my voice and my heart is raised
Jesus I worship your wonderful name
The voice of my heart cries out

I try to explain to people that I don’t just write poetry to have something to do.  I don’t write it because I have something to say.  I don’t write it because it’s a passion of mine.  I have written poetry since I was in high school.  It has been something inside me for over 50 years.   Then it was my thoughts, my imagination, my words.  It became like a journal of the struggles I was having in my youth.  I wish I had keep them all, but I did not.

Now it is different because I write what the Lord dictates to me.  Usually it starts with a word, or a line, or a whole stanza.  When I hear it, I sit down and start typing and don’t stop until he stops talking.  It may sound like my lament, or my questions, but I think God has a bigger purpose in each one of these psalms.  All I am is a vessel.  That is why I am here.

2 Timothy 2:20-21 King James Version

20 But in a great house there are not only vessels of gold and of silver, but also of wood and of earth; and some to honour, and some to dishonour.
21 If a man therefore purge himself from these, he shall be a vessel unto honour, sanctified, and meet for the master's use, and prepared unto every good work.

Take Flight

 Arise out of your slumber
 Awake out of your sleep
 The God of all creation
Calls to me.  Calls to me

Do not give in to temptation
 Do not follow your fear
The plans I have for you
 Are coming near.  Coming near

 You are my child forever
 You are my hearts delight
I am the God of heaven
 Open up your heart
 And take flight

Nothing can stop you.  Nothing can harm you
 Nothing can steal your joy
Nothing to worry. Nothing to fear
 Only my love forever
 My love forever

Turn Around

I was wandering in the wilderness this morning
Wondering if my life was headed for a fall
Then I heard a gentle voice
Saying “Son you have a choice.
You can walk away or answer to my call.”

I had never thought I’d leave my precious Savior
But it seemed my life was spinning out of place
I was walking really slow
Then my legs began to bow
Soon I found that I had fallen on my face

I’m not sure how I got down on my knees
But I knew the Lord would hear my heartfelt pleas
I lifted up my voice
And I started to rejoice
For all the mercy He had shown to me

It was not uncommon that He’d speak to me
I heard His voice most every single day
And I always have a choice
To heard His gentle voice
Or to walk into the wilderness my way

I slowly raised myself up off the ground
Decided I would quickly turn around
I headed back to Him
From the place that I had been
To find the place where love and peace abound

Your Gentle Voice

I’ve come to listen, Lord, to hear you speak
For your truth is what I seek

I long to hear your gentle voice
Come to me now and I’ll rejoice

For you speak life into my soul
You speak hope and make me whole

You speak wisdom so I might learn
You speak glory for which I yearn

You speak peace to calm my storms
You speak joy/ My heart you warm

Lord give me life today I ask
To hear your voice is my only task

Praise and Worship

Hallelujah to My King

One night while I was sleeping
My pillow soft and warm
I felt the Holy presence of the Lord

I stood with great awareness
That He was there with me
Then I sang Hallelujah to my King

Hallelujah, Hallelujah,
Hallelujah to my King
Hallelujah, Hallelujah,
Hallelujah to my King

In the morning I so often hear Him speak to me. It may be through a praise song or in the quiet of the sunrise, but His voice is very recognizable. It may be in the noon day sun or when the stars are sparkling and bright that He would call my name. He often speaks these words to me in rhyme and asks me to write them down. Often He gives me the whole song at once, like He did with this one. As I walk along the old railroad tracks, which have been made into a bike trial, I lift my hands and sing the songs He gives me. Such joy fills me heart as I thank Him for giving me words to share with you.

What is God saying to you today? I can guarantee that He is speaking to you every day, and quite often during the day. Do you hear Him? Do you try to hear Him. Or are you so caught up in this world that the voices here drown out the voice of God. Don’t you hear that voice telling you what is right and what is wrong? Don’t you hear Him whispering which way to turn? He is always there. We too often are not still enough to hear!

Psalm 46:10 Be still and know that I am God

His Perfect Plan

I was tired and worn out
I faced the world with doubt
I didn’t know what was in store for me
I looked up to the sky
And my soul began to cry
God why have you allowed these trials for me

Then I heard His gentle voice
He said son you have a choice
The way you choose determines how you’ll do
You can face them with your doubt
Or you can lift your voice and shout
From the joy you feel that I am here with you

In the middle of the test
I will never rest
I will always walk beside you through the fire
So just trust me do not doubt
For I will bring you out
This trial has a purpose in your life

I listened to His words
And knew life could be worse
So I rose up from my feeling of despair
With God close by my side
I decided to abide
With Him until this trial disappeared

He will bring His perfect will
As He does I will be still
And see His plan begin to come about
For He will walk beside me
His Spirit is within me
There’s nothing that can stop His endless love
