A Christmas Prayer

The day is finally here
A day of mirth and good cheer
We’ve waited this long
And sung all the songs
That deck the halls this year

The Christmas tree shines so bright
And the houses are covered with lights
The presents are many
The foods getting ready
And soon we’ll all wake from the night

The children flock to the tree
And open their presents with glee
Paper flies everywhere
Parents laugh without a care
They just hope the children are pleased

Once all the presents are open
It’s time for the feast to begin
We sit at the table
And all who are able
Take turns as we start to dig in

Then a gentle hand says wait
Let’s take a minute to pray
So they all bow their heads
As these words are said
To give God the thanks for this day

Oh, the joy of Christmas
Glad tidings we all sing
Blessed Hallelujahs
To the King of Kings
Glory in the highest
Emmanuel is here
Let’s not forget the reason
For this special time of year

Because God sent His son
In a manger bed He lay
Such a simple start
Yet we celebrate this day
Because that little babe
Gave His life our debt to pay
And now we’re born again
If we follow in His way

There’s a hush that fills the room
As a little child says
I want to follow Him
Will you show me the way?
And right there at the table
Before the meal begins
We pray the sinner’s prayer
And that child has entered in

Oh, the joy of Christmas
Glad tidings we all sing
Blessed Hallelujahs
To the King of Kings
Glory in the highest
Emmanuel is here
Let’s not forget the reason
For this special time of year

You’ll Find Him Near

I was walking down the street
In Bethlehem one day
There were crowds of people all around
And I found no place to stay
I walked a little further
To find a place to lay
And what did I discover
But a baby in some hay

The mother was so happy
The father was in awe
Then shepherds came and worshiped
And I just sat and thought
Who is this little child
That Shepherds came and saw
I asked them why they came
And their story hit me hard

They said they saw an Angel
And He said they should not fear
That a child had  been born
The Messian had appeared
And then a band of Angels
They sang  be of good cheer
Go and greet the child
You will find Him really near

When I heard their story
I bowed my head ad prayed
If this is the Messiah
I had to change my ways
I knew that  He was coming soon
And He will come to save
So I prayed for Him to touch me
When He grew in power and grace

He’s coming back again my  friend
And it could be any day
If you have not accepted Him
Be sure your not too late
Ask Him in your heart today
A simple prayer’s the only way
And He will wash your sins away
Be born again  today

The Shepherds Song

Quiet night
Stars shine bright
Giving light
To all below
Shepherds watching
Sheep all grazing
All not knowing
What’s in store

Suddenly
From the heavens
Angel saying
Fear thou not
Unto you
Today is born
A Savior
Christ the Lord

Then angelic
Host starts singing
Glory to God
In highest heaven
Still proclaiming
Peace on earth
Goodwill to man
Go see the child

They went to see Him
In the manger
Quiet babe
Among these strangers
Knelt to worship
Saw no danger
Praising Christ, the Lord

Glory to God, The Angels sang
Great is the Lord our God
Peace on earth, Good will to all
Is the Angels song above

When we bow down
To Christ the Lord’
For the first time
The Angel chorus
Sings out a song
In joyful glee
That one more has entered heaven

Will that be you
This Christmas day
Will you ask Christ
To be your way
Will you invite Him
In to stay
Accept His gift today
And then angels will sing again

Glory to God, The Angels sang
Great is the Lord our God
Peace on earth, Good will to all
Is the Angels song above

This Precious Gift

As Christmas cheer
Rings in my ear
I love the carol songs
They speak of Christ
This special night
And last the evening long

I see the lights
They shine so bright
As they adorn the streets
Remind me of
The star above
That wise men came to seek

All people greet
Wish words so sweet
The season of true joy
These words of love
Make me thing of
The blessed baby boy

You see everything about Christmas
Reminds me of His love
And he precious gift He brought
When He came down from above

The gift was my salvation
From all my sin and shame
Since I accepted this great gift
I’ve never been the same

His joy is overwhelming
His peace is so much more
His hope keeps me from worry
And His love fills every pore

This gift is yours this Christmas Day
If you will ask Him in
He will come into your heart
And wipe away your sin

The Best Gift

What can I give you this Christmas
That would really touch your heart
What gift would last for your lifetime
What gift could rise off the charts

I could give you joy that will keep you
Through every hard day that you see
This joy would be deep down inside you
And would rise up whenever you need

I could give you peace that is lavish
That is more than this world has known
This peace would endure through the hard times
Because it’s peace that you always will own

I could give you hope for the future
Even when things look so bleak
You’ll have a hope that will always endure
And will carry you when you’re weak

Or maybe it’s love that you need
In a world where there is not enough
I could fill you with all you’re in need of
So your brimming to top with this love

After thinking all of this over
I’ve decided to give you a gift
One that comes with all that I’ve mentioned
One that lasts every day that you live

I give you Jesus, who died for your sins
Jesus, who gives you a new life within
Jesus, who asks you to please let Him in
So He can bring all these gifts

You can accept Him if only you’ll pray
Jesus, I’ve sinned, and I’ll stop today
I know that you died for my sin on that day
And all of my sins you will now take away
You rose again from the depths of the grave
To give me a life in heaven to stay,

If you prayed that prayer, that is enough
You have all the gifts that are listed above
And you’ll always be surrounded by love
Because Jesus now lives in you.

Freedom Within

My Mom had taught Jesus to me

In the church since I was just three

But as I grew old

I got kind of bold

He became a condunrum to me

But then in a moment I found

That Jesus was my solid ground

He died for my sin

Gave me freedom within

The conundrum is no longer sound

I Lift My Praise

I lift my praise
With every breath
And I will always
Do my best
To lift the name
Of Jesus high
For He has given
Me new life

Born as a babe
In manger hay
Left heavens home
To come that day
Shepherds and wise men
Came to praise
Then I will join
And lift His name

He preached to thousands
Words if life

And healed the sick

As they came by
He angered leaders
Stuck in pride
And they cried out
To crucify

The beat Him bad
And spit on Him
Scourged Him near death
And they mocked Him
A crown of thorns
A wooden cross
Nailed hands and feet
Oh, what a cost

I lift my praise
To Jesus Christ
My highest praise

My love, my life

I’ll worship Him

For all my days

For He is worthy

Of my praise

He gave His life
Away that day
Our sins to pardon
Our debtn to pay
They laid Him in
A borrowed tomb
He rose again
Now heaven’s home

Oh, Hallelujah to the Lord of Lords

Emmanuel with us, the King of Kings

Jesus my Lord, the crucified

I lift my praise, I give my life

Jesus my Lord, the crucified

I lift my praise, I give my life

The Great Payment

Have you ever thought it strange

That a baby in a manger

Would be the one who came to set men free

And have you ever stopped to think

About the fact that Heaven’s King

Left His throne to come and die for you and me

You may think it’s fable

He was born in lowly stable

But the story has withstood the test of time

And I thought that you should know

Why I’ve come to love Him so

For I want you to know this Lord of Life

You see, He changed my life

When I came to Him that time

That my life was spinning out of control

He forgave all of my sin

And He put His spirit in

Now He walks with me wherever I may go

Because this baby in the manger

Was no ordinary stranger

But the Son of God who came to earth that day

He shared the Father’s love

And brought healing from above

And He said He was the truth the life the way

His teaching brought division

Put the leaders in derision

They decided that He must be put to death

So they shouted crucify Him

On a cross they railed against Him

And He gave His life in one last gasp of breath

The final price was paid

For the sin of human race

And now we are set free forevermore

And it all began that day

In a stable filled with hay

And a baby who the blessed Mary bore.

This Christmas don’t forget

The great payment for our debt

That was made by that baby in the hay

He was born to die for me

And to set the captive free

Let us celebrate His birth this Christmas day

Fulfilled Heart

The drugs I was abusing

The booze that I was drinking

The girls that I was kissing

Did not fill my spirit from the start

The money I was making

The laughter I was faking

But something still was missing

That would satisfy my longing heart

Then He came and saved me

Jesus Christ gave me His mercy

From my past sins I was set free

And I got a barnd new start

Now my life is filled with love

That was sent down from above

And joy and peace enough

To fulfill my grateful heart

To Tell

Why do I write these words of mine
Words from my mind that come out in rhyme
Why do I often take the time
To write down these words of mine

To tell of His love, His wonderful love
That came down from God,  our Father above
Born in a manger, that was enough
To tell of His wonderful love

To tell of the peace He has for you
That helps to sustain you in all you do
And lead you through trials that you’ll go through
To tell of His precious peace

To tell of the joy that bubbles inside
No matter what life may ask you to hide
This joy overcomes every time you might slide
To tell of unspeakable joy

To tell of His mercy so rich and free
For on that cross He pardoned me
Rose from the grave so with Him I’ll be
To tell of His marvelous mercy

To tell of His grace so abundant and vast
To me He brings blessings that will always last
He showers my life with a glorious blast
To tell of amazing grace

To tell you that you can be saved today
All you must do is call on His name
And Jesus will came so you can give praise
To tell you that Jesus saves

Those are the reasons I write my rhymes
I desire salvation for all of mankind
These blessings are yours if you’ll take the time
To ask Jesus Christ to abide.
