Survival

You say you can’t find rest
That there’s too much going on
Your brain just can’t turn off the thoughts inside
You say you can’t find joy
That this world is such a mess
The terrors are what causes you to hide

You say you can’t find hope
Because things just spin round and round
There seems to be no future up ahead
You say you can’t find love
In this crazy mixed up world
So you stay inside the safety of your head

I can sympathize with you
Because I’ve been there before
It is not a very fun place to live
One day I turned a corner
Everything became all right
I knew that surely now I would survive

You see, I met Jesus
I asked Him to save me
I asked Him to be Lord of my life
Now all the world’s distractions
Can’t phase me in the least
He’s given more than I could buy

Peace in every storm
Joy in every sorrow
Hope when all the hope escapes me
Love that’s everlasting
Mercy for all time
Grace so amazing and so free

You can know this Jesus
He can do the same for you
Just open up your heart and let Him in
You never will regret it
He’ll be there every day
To brighten up the new life you begin

Safe and Sound

Perplexed is not the right word
To describe where I had been
Dazed and confused is closer
To really know my life of sin
I was puzzled trying to find a way
I could ever be clean within
Until I met the Savior of my soul

Jesus took perplexity
And turned it into joy
Dazed He tuned to peace
Confused was not my hope
My puzzled days were over
When His love took over me
Now I’m safe and sound for all to see.

The Culture of Peace Love and Dope

I wish it was different in our world today
I wish people had more respect
But this will not be
As long as we see
A culture profuse with neglect

Neglect of accountability
Neglect of respect for the law
Not knowing what’s right
Not having the light
No care for morality

We seem to have lost our way somewhere
In the culture of peace love and dope
Now true joy is gone
Real peace never dawns
Most people have lost all their hope

But there is a hope that is sure
One that never will fail to win
Just turn to the one
Who’s Gods only Son
All you need can be found in Him

Catch That Flight

Running through the airport
MIddle of the night
Jump on the conveyor
Have to catch a flight

My time is a wasting
The gate has opened wide
Arriving there in time
I sit and breathe a sigh

Another flight is coming
To take us all away
Jesus will return
Are you ready for that day

The conveyor of all truth
He said to trust in Him
Ask Him for forgiveness
Make Him Lord within

Don’t be in the position
That you haven”t bowed and prayed
To make Him Lord and Savior
Before the final day

Our Deepest Need

If I had three million wishes
The very first would be
That everyone would be aware
Of their deepest need

For years I filled this need myself
With things not good for me
It led me to a troubled life
But never filled that need

Deep inside each one of us
There is a cavity
We try to fill it up ourselves
With things that we can see

I came to realize the fact
That God must fill this need
To worship Christ and Him alone
While bowing to our knees

If you have tried to no avail
To fill that void inside
Ask Jesus to forgive you now
And gain eternal life

Rescue

Every week it seemed we would watch it
They brought tears to our laughing eyes
Archie and Edith went at it
“Stifle yourself” was his cry

We all have some traits in our lives
That we’d like to get rid of each day
But the only real way we can do that
Is to stifle it in every way

For me it was sin that detered me
Then I heard Jesus paid the price
He died on the cross for my pardon
Now I offer to you this advice

If you’re wand’ring through life without hope
And it seems you can’t stifle your fear
Just call out to Jesus for rescue
If your honest you will catch His ear

Ask Him for His forgiveness
For the sin that has plagued our past
Ask Him to be the Lord of your life
Then enter His rest at last

Ungoverned

I once discovered
That I’d been ungoverned
My life had been such a disgrace
Now I have an inkling
You know what I’m thinking
When I tell you that I’ve found my way

My best friend had gumtion
He made introduction
For me to find Jesus my Lord
Now I’m singing praise
To that glorious name
My life is now safe evermore

The Masterpiece

It’s hard for me to fathom
How the master forms the clay
While it’s spinning so quickly on the wheel
I have watched Him use the water
As He forms and shapes the clay
The pressure that he gives must be ideal

When he finishes he looks
At the masterpiece he made
As it casts a silhouette upon the ground
In his image he created
Each one of us unique
There is not another one of you around

One by one he fashioned us
On the spinning wheel of life
The pressure of his hands through trials felt
The water of His cleansing word
Shapes and molds our lives
‘Til before His cross we solemnly have knelt

The master knows you better
Than you even know yourself
He always has the best for you in mind
He formed you to be his
Won’t you give your life to Him
Make Jesus the Lord of all your life

Up and Down

I’m learning the piano
One lesson at a time
It seems my fingers do not move
As fast as I would like

One lesson that I’m good at
Is one they call a trill
My fingers travel up and down
Like hiking on a hill

I find that life is like that
It takes us up and down
Our journeys may be diff’rent
We walk on diff’rent ground

If your life seems uncertain
And you want to start anew
Just give your life to Jesus
He gave His life for you

Ask Him for forgiveness
To be your Lord today
He’ll come and walk beside you
Forever and always

Heart Repair

I’ve had my days of power
When selling was my thing
I grew my share of business
By selling stuff with bling

My pride got in the way
Most dominant of traits
I grew too big in my own eyes
Delusion was my fate

My rescue came by mercy
With one big dose of grace
Jesus put my mind on track
A humbling time took place

Now every time my pride will rise
To levels not desired
I place my life into His hands
And He repairs my heart
