About Pete

I love the Lord. Each day, he gives me words of praise and encouragement, and asks me to share them with you I pray that they minister to you as you read them, share them, or ponder on them. Have a blessed day!

My Trademark

You wouldn’t believe the mess that I had
Attached to the top of my head
It was ugly and long and scraggly and yuch
A haircut was something I’d dread

You see I was a hippie long hair and all
Dope smoking and boozing all day
I could have cared less how my hair was a mess
Or that it stuck all together like clay

I remember fondly the day that all changed
I walked into the hair salon
I asked for a business man’s cut that day
The sleek look I now had put on

I had cleaned up the inside previously
When Jesus came into my heart
I wanted all others to see this great change
I decided my hair was a start

I’ve learned since then that the outward appearance
Is a shadow of how I should walk
It’s the outward expression of God’s sweet love
That I now need to make my trademark

I Rest

I rest in your promises Savior divine
Because of your mercy they all can be mine
I rest in your promises Jesus my Lord
You show them all to us throughout your word

I rest in your peace it calms every storm
I rest in your joy which bubbles and warms
I rest in your hope that never will die
I rest in your love forever it’s mine

I rest in your healing for every disease
I rest in deliverance that you bring to me
I rest in your cleansing from every sin
I rest in your Spirit that dwells within

There’s no need to worry
There’s no need to doubt
When I have a conflict
You’ll carry me out
And when indecision
Has darkened my way
You’ll speak to my heart
And guide me each day

I’ll rest in your mercy abundant and free
I’ll rest in the mercy that you give to me
I’ll rest in your grace amazing and grand
I’ll rest in the grace that helps me to stand

And when I am weary and day is done
I’ll look to the west and the setting sun
I’ll know that you’re with me throughout the night
I’ll quietly rest in you

Brave Service

I’ve lived a life of ease most times
I haven’t fought a fight
I haven’t risked my life for those
That thought a war not right

I never understood the pain
They felt when they came home
All that they gave seemed meaningless
Because we did not know

We did not know the hurt inside
We did not know the danger
We did not take the time to thank
The ones so filled with anger

The only honorable thing that’s left
Is to thank them one by one
For their brave service to this land
And all that they have done

Delicious Chicken

Oh boy do I like chicken
Cooked any way is good
Once a week or maybe twice
Those birds provide my food

There are so many methods
To cook a tasty meal
I just admit my favorite
Is shake-n-bake for real

Now in life I’m quite different
Because of what awaits
It’s either glorious heaven
Or a fire that I’ll face

I’ll call out to my Savior
To avoid that fiery lake
He’ll rescue me from all my sin
So I won’t shake-n-bake

What An Awesome Feeling

By faith I claim my healing
From cancer’s ugly snare
Not one small symptom will remain
Good health beyond compare

By faith I am delivered
From such a dread disease
There is no power on earth that lasts
When Jesus sends His peace

What a righteous Savior
Redeemer friend indeed
That by His grace He saved me
Supplied my every need
What an awesome feeling
What a gracious God
That He would give this faith to me
Then bask me in His love

By faith I’ll share my story
So others will gain hope
The Word of God goes forth to bring
An anchor to their soul

By faith I’ll stand before Him
Once again made whole
No power on earth can keep me from
The healing He will show

What a righteous Savior
Redeemer friend indeed
That by His grace He saved me
Supplied my every need
What an awesome feeling
What a gracious God
That He would give this faith to me
Then bask me in His love

I’ll walk by faith in God above
I’ll claim His Word more than enough
I’ll stay within His loving arms
I’ll praise His name with heaven’s song
I’ll count on His unfailing help
I’ll worship God above all else
I’ll lift Him up for all to see
How much my Savior loves me

What an awesome feeling
What a gracious God
That He would give this faith to me
Then bask me in His love
Then bask me in His love

Always Be Kind

As life goes on by us each day
We all have to find a way
To be at peace
And keep others at ease
In hard times and even in play

Our words should be kind and sweet
Our demeanor should not be elite
Amicable smiles
Will carry us miles
As each day one another we greet

I pray that you’ll always be kind
True and honest all of the time
For then we will see
How great life can be
If we’ll only take hold of our mind

That Which Surpasses

I used to love seeing those games
Where everything stays the same
Balls set set strings
Ducks go diving
The pure motion always remains

Perpetual games they were called
And I would get quite enthralled
When my life took a turn
Twas then that I learned
Perpetual is not this at all

The sunrise and sunset each day
The wind and the sun and the rain
These are the things
That surpass everything
When it comes to perpetual ways

These gifts that come from above
Filled with our Father’s love
Will always remain
For His love will not change
His mercy is always enough

Mercy Paintings

I saw the sunset painting hanging in the air so high
So I asked my painter neighbor why he hung it in the sky
He said is was not him who put that painting where it lie
It must have been another one’s surprise

So I asked around the art museum who might be the one
Who hung their painting in the sky when they thought it was done
When I walked back out to see the sight I noticed what had come
A new painting was shining like the sun

Now I was quite perplexed another painting had appeared
Then I noticed that it changed again and I broke down tears
I realized that no earthly one could paint such brilliance here
That God was sending me a message clear

Every moment mercy comes into my life to stay
Just like the brilliant sunset it’s faithful every day
And no one does provide it like the master in His way
I take it so for granted as it fades

From now on I will recognize His mercies all brand new
From the brilliance of a sunrise to the wet of grassy dew
From the singing birds that greet the sun rising with its hue
His mercies do abound for me and you

And when I see the mercy paintings hanging in the sky
There will no longer be a question why it hangs so high
I will know that God does show His love and that He’s always nigh
Then I will l lift His name with praises high

Awesome Redeemer

His glory abounds in the heavens
His light shines o’er all the earth
His hand shows in all of creation
He’s lived with us since His birth

His peace is abundant to all
His joy is unspeakable
His hope will endure forever
His love is remarkable

Oh what a wonderful Savior
Who came down from heaven to die
He took away all of my burden
And gave me eternal life

Oh what an awesome redeemer
Who freely gives us His grace
I look for the day of His coming
For then I shall see His face

And until that day He will keep me
By mercies abundant and free
Forever I’ll give Him my praises
For He is so good to me
