Have you closed your heart?

Have you shut your mind?

Is your spirit all cooped up?

Are you stuck in time?

Wondering how to change?

Then it’s time to open up!

 

Open up to the fact that God loves you

Open up to His mercy and grace

Open up to the knowledge He knows you best

And He cares for you more than you know.

 

Open up to the Spirit’s calling

His sweet voice is sounding your name

He will take all your sin and bury it

He will wash you as white as snow.

 

Are you wanting peace?

Joy and hope within?

Faith and love to win?

Then Open up today

To Jesus

Be a blessing today
Don’t let time pass away
There’s a world out there needing your love
Find a real simple way
To touch someone today
We can all make a difference with love
Maybe a smile
Will take them a mile
Since this world doesn’t give them a care
One smile from you
Could make their life good
And the cost is so little to bear
Or it might be a hug
Instead of a shrug
When you see someone down on themselves
Don’t just walk on by
Be someone who’ll try
To lift them up off of the shelf
Do you have an ear
That can listen with cheer
To a friend that needs someone who’s quiet
Then just take the time
To sit and be kind
As he pours out his heart, and you wait
These are the little things
We can all do
To brighten up those who are blue
Maybe you don’t think
It’s all up to you
But if you can touch one, that will do.

Lord, I come to you this morning
With a very heavy heart
I need your Spirits comfort
But I’m not sure where to start
So many things are going on
Throughout our troubled land
I need to just come talk to you
And pray you’ll understand
So many people died
In a senseless tragedy
One man filled with hate
Brings terror to our streets
We cannot understand this rage
Or what would make it stop
The only thing I know to do is pray
So I will pray.
Two candidates are running
For the leader of our land
The greatest country in the world
Is going to take a stand
Why are these two left
Who have so many flaws
I know my duty is to choose
So the only thing I know to do is pray
So I will pray.
I see the moral fabric
Of our nation running wild
Men and women doing things
That should not be allowed
Children facing chaos
In the bathrooms of their school
I’m having trouble with it all
So the only thing I know to do is pray
So I will pray
I will humble myself before you, Lord
Pray with all my heart and soul
Seek your face with every breath I take
And turn from all my wicked ways

For you tell me in your word
If I do these things
You will hear my prayer
And forgive our sins

No More Struggling

Struggle  Written in response to the Daily Prompt

I used to blame God for my hardships

It seems He was out to get me

I wandered in drugs and  some drinking

And thought He’d abandoned me

 

But one day I turned toward His mercy

And I asked Him to enter my life

I can still remember His answer to me

As He walked in and opened my eyes

 

He said my struggle was not against Him

But against my own sinful heart

But now that I had Him walking with me

The path would not be so hard

 

He said He’d walk with me every day

And help me with anything hard

So I smiled and I took hold  of His hand

And my struggles all seemed to depart

I want to be closer.  Closer to your side

I want to be nearer.  Never let me hide

I want to be purer.  As I walk through life

I want to be yours.  In you I will abide

 

There is never a time you will leave my side

But I may wander away

When I do I can rest assured you abide

In my heart each and every day

 

You promised you’ll never leave or forsake me

Even if I should mess up

When I find myself far from where I should be

You come and fill my cup

 

When I cannot hide from the trials I face

I just want to walk away

But you come and guide me to a peaceful place

Where I can bow and pray

 

These are the reasons I trust in you

Every promise I know is true

You will be with me my whole life through

What have you been building

All throughout your life?

Is it wealth and admiration

That you exchanged for strife?

Is it power and your passions

That does your soul ignite?

Or maybe its the things you do

To enjoy the party Life?

 

I was that way so long ago

I went after all those things

But  found them to be empty

They didn’t lead to anything

So I decided to tear down the old

And rebuild my life into one that sings

 

I build upon the Love of God

A foundation true and strong

I built upon His mercy

And His grace just came along

I built upon His sacrifice

His final ending sigh

I built my Life on Jesus Christ

You Promise

Where else would I go Lord?

Where else can I find

All the promises you’ve given

Coming through in my life?

 

You promise refuge from the storm

A hiding place for my soul

So I will not be fearful

When the days grow cold

 

You promise a fortress around me

To strengthen me when I am weak

The walls of your mercy rise mighty

To keep out the enemy

 

You promise me health and deliverance

From all that has gone before

I now longer walk in my past life

I can walk in your victory, lord

 

You promise me peace and joy

In a world where these are lost

You fill me with both of these virtues

And promise there won’t be a cost

 

You promise me salvation

Redemption from my sin

A new life birthed within me

Your Holy Spirt within

 

But more than all these things above

You promise me your steadfast love

It’s crowned with grace and mercy sweet

I will bow before your feet

For you are worthy of my praise

For all the wonder of your name

I’ll lift you high in all my days

And praise you for your promises

A Simple Life

Written in response to the prompt from the daily caller

Life often gets  complicated

The time just slips on by.

With work, family and social things

I wish I could sometimes fly

 

I am often off running in circle

To get where I need to be

It’s not that I think it’s annoying

It’s just that I can’t schedule me

 

My Lord says to be a like a child

To live in simplicity

They don’t have a plan book or schedule

They just live by faith in mercy

 

Lord, help me to be like thia child

Who totally trusts in your love

Let me live a life that’s simple

Not complicated with stuff

 

 

His Matchless Name

Save me Lord and I will be saved

Heal me Lord, and I will be healed

For you are my Savior, refuge and strength

There is nothing too hard for thee

 

Deliver me Lord, and I will be free

Redeem me Lord, and my debt will be paid

For you are my rock and my hiding place

In you I will always be safe

 

Lift me up Lord, and I will have joy

Ease my sorrow Lord, and I will I have peace

For you give me hope for the future

And you’ll walk with me eternally

 

How can I ignore your mercy?

It is right with me every day

How can I not see your grace?

It protects me all the way.

 

So I will lift my voice in song

You alone are worthy Lord

Jesus is the only name

 

That name brings healing at its sound

Salvation lives in Jesus name

Deliverance comes where He abounds

Redemption from his name proclaimed

 

Joy and Peace come when I praise

The loveliest of names

He is all my praise
