Sometimes I remember when I was all alone.
Sometimes I remember when I had no joy
Sometimes I remember when I had no peace within
But long ago those days came to an end.
I met Jesus. I met Jesus.
The day that I met him my life changed
When I met Jesus He washed away my sin
It seemed like I was born again
Many times the trials of life seem more than I can bear
Many times my mind will drift to things I cannot share
Many times I wonder if his grace will cover me
Then I remember that he came to set me free
I met Jesus. I met Jesus.
The day that I met him my life changed
When I met Jesus He washed away my sin
It seemed like I was born again
I never expected to meet Him. I never thought it was even possible. I was a drifter, a drug addict, a drunkard and a perverted soul. I had every intention of staying that way because I thought I was happy and having a good life. I had a job, I had friends, I had family close. I ran in social circles that supported me and buddies that loved being around me. I had a great job that I really liked, people that respected me in my position, and made pretty good money. I was never one much for material possessions and did not own a lot because I had no need for things. What more could a person want?
Then I encountered Jesus, or should I say he encountered me. It was as unexpected as a bolt of lightning striking me on the head. I had grown up in church but had abandoned it years ago. People had talked to me about Jesus but I thought it just a game to play, another way of life I wasn’t the least bit interested in. But that day, I learned that he loved me. He shed His blood for me. He died for my sins, which were plentiful. He rose again to give me eternal life. Suddenly I knew I had to know Him better and that he wanted, desired and longed for a relationship with me. I will never leave Him now that I met Him. Have you met Him? He is calling to you. Open your ears and listen for His voice.
Jeremiah 29:11-13 New International Version (NIV)
11 For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. 12 Then you will call on me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. 13 You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.
