I Live For You

I gave up my old ways. I started anew
For the rest of my days I’m living for you.
No turning back because I’m breaking through
For all that I want is to live for you

In the heat of the day with a cool morning dew
I’ll make the decision to live for you
When storms come around me with waves crashing through
I don’t have to worry I’m living for you

And when people ask why I have such Joy
I’ll say I found Jesus and He fills my soul
Because every day and every hour
You give me strength and you give me power

Precious Lord Jesus thanks for the cross
For so many years I counted it loss
But now I’ll give my life and all that I have
I’ll live for you until this life is passed

So when this old life is finally through
I’ll meet you in heaven because I live for you

Where would I be if I had not traveled to visit a friend of mine half way across the country in 1976? Where would I be if I had not gone to church with him that night and heard that message? The message that convinced me I was headed for hell and I made me know I did not want to go there. Where would I be if the pastor had not come to my friends’ house the day before I left and asked if I wanted to get saved and live for Jesus? Where would I be if I had not prayed that prayer and, with sweat coming from deep within and drenching my clothes, knew that something had changed inside me?

I believe with all my heart that the night I prayed that prayer would have been my last if I had not sincerely prayed that prayer. I travelled 70,80,90 mph all the way home from Iowa with a wobble in my front left tire. When I took it to my mechanic he could not believe I had just come all the way home from Iowa. I had a broken tie rod! I have no doubt that if I had not prayed that prayer, I would not have had God’s protection on the way home that day and the tire would have fallen off, as it should have. I would have had a terrible accident and be serving a life sentence in a hell none of us want to go to.

Have you prayed that prayer today? Have you been Born again, which Jesus says is a requirement to even see the Kingdom of Heaven? Are you living for Jesus? If you have not, please do it today. It may be your last.

Romans 10:13
“For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved”

I Can Trust In Your Love

In the Still of the Night
You are there by my side
And I know I can trust in your love

At the dawn of the day
You provide me a way
Then I know I can trust in your love

As the Sun rises high
You will strengthen my life
So I know I can trust in your love

When the sun paints the sky
And the day has gone by
I have known I can trust in your love

There’s never am hour
When I don’t need your power
For I know who I can trust in your love

Keep me close by your side
For in you I’ll abide
There I know I can trust your love

I know there are times that I don’t love Him like I should. After all, He gave up a throne in heaven to come to earth as a babe because He loved me. He walked all over the nation of Israel, healing and preaching about the ways of our Father in heaven because He loved me. He took the ridicule and harassment of the religious leaders because He loved me. He was beaten and laughed at, mocked and ridiculed. He carried His own cross on which He was crucified because He loved me. He took the nails in His hands and feet and He cried out Father forgive them because He loved me. He rose again and sent the Holy Spirit Comforter to help me because He loved me?

And what do I do? How much time do I spend with Him each day. Every day he reminds me of His love for me by appearing in the little things, in nature all around me, in the people I meet and talk to. Every moment He is giving me breath and sight, hearing and taste and so many other things I do not deserve. And he will always do that because He loves me.

Romans 8:32-39 King James Version (KJV)
38 For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come,
39 Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Weary Soul

Weary soul
Can you not find peace
Look to the one
Who calms the seas

Weary soul
Can you not find joy
Look to the one
Who never annoys

Weary soul
Can you not find rest
Look to the one
Who says your blessed

Weary soul
Can you not find hope
Look to the one
Who helps you cope

Weary soul
Can you not find love
Look to the one
Who lives above

It’s easy to find myself looking inside my soul and trying to figure out why I am lacking in so many ways. Inside is where my trouble is, after all. My misgivings, misunderstandings, bad thoughts and evil desires all dwell within. They to do not come from outside of me. The lack of joy, peace, hope and rest in my day to day life is caused by outside factors, but it is within me that I have the power to overcome these shortcomings, isn’t it?

I have found the answer to that question is no, it is not a look inside myself that will fix any of those things that stem out of pride. The only way to have those attributes inside myself is to look above, to look to Jesus. He is all of those things and so much more. Lay your burdens at His feet and he will lift you up out of your weariness and into His arms.

Jeremiah 31:25 King James Version (KJV)
25 For I have satiated the weary soul, and I have replenished every sorrowful soul.

The Believers Life

Safe in Your Arms

When I walk through the valley I am not alone
Because you are with me wherever I go

When the storms come upon me I am not afraid
Because you’ll give peace in the midst of the rain

CHORUS
Conqueror, deliverer Savior and friend. Jesus right with me again and again
Mighty Jehovah, Majesty on high, Holy of Holies. I give you my life

When trials surround me I feel like I’ll lose
I don’t have to wait long for you to rescue

CHORUS

BRIDGE
Safe in your arms. I am safe in your arms. I am safe in your arms always (REPEAT)

CHORUS

It had been quite a day for the disciples. Lepers were healed, as was Peter’s mother, and a number of great stories were told. Jesus was a great story teller. He took the simple principles of life and turned them into lessons about God that people could relate to and remember. It was truly remarkable how He could each into everyone’s life right where they were. The people flocked to Him partly because of the miracles and partly because of His amazing way with words.

The crowds had gone back home and Jesus and his disciples got into a boat to go to the other side of the Sea of Galilee. In the middle of their crossing a sudden storm came up. The disciples worried they would drown, but they found Jesus asleep. The cried out to Him “Master, aren’t you worried we might perish?”. Jesus got up and said “Oh ye of little faith” and He quietly calmed the wind and the waves. All was at peace.

Sometimes we think Jesus I not there with us. We feel alone, abandoned and afraid. We are not sure how we will make it through this test, this storm. But He is always there just waiting for us to call to Him. He will calm the storm, take away the pain, dry the tears and soothe the mind. Nothing is too hard for Him!

Isaiah 61 King James Version (KJV)
61 The Spirit of the Lord GOD is upon me; because the LORD hath anointed me to preach good tidings unto the meek; he hath sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to them that are bound;
2 To proclaim the acceptable year of the LORD, and the day of vengeance of our God; to comfort all that mourn;
3 To appoint unto them that mourn in Zion, to give unto them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness;

The Eye of the Storm

You are the eye of the storm
A calm from the wind and the rain
When I kneel and pray
You send me your grace
Bringing peace to my life once again

You are the rainbow so bright
After thunder and lightning suspend
When I’m in a mess
I see your faithfulness
Bringing hope that the trial will end

I will kneel at your feet and adore you
I will lift up my hands in praise
Because you are my fortress and refuge
I will worship your holy name

You are the sunrise at morn
Shedding light that pierces the dark
The birds sing their song
And I sing along
Bringing joy in the depth of my heart

Hallelujah I am free
Hallelujah I am saved
Hallelujah I’m delivered
By the power of your name

I will kneel at your feet and adore you
I will lift up my hands in praise
Because you are my fortress and refuge
I will worship your holy name

Hurricanes amaze me. Swirling around with winds of up to 170 MPH in the fiercest storms, they wander across the ocean on a path that meteorologists can only guess at. So massive that if one of these larger hurricanes were placed over the state of Iowa, where I live, it would cover the whole state with tropical force winds. The winds at the center, a place called the eye wall, are the strongest in the whole circulation. But even in these monstrous storms, in the center is calm. The eye of the storm often brings sunlight and blue skies between the walls of rain, It is a place of peace.

Our God is our refuge, our fortress, our place of peace in the midst of the trials of our lives. We can depend on Him to keep us safe and deliver us from harm. He will never fail us and never forsake us. What a wonderful God we serve!

Psalm 91:1-2 King James Version (KJV)
91 He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.
2 I will say of the LORD, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust.

The Believers Life

Your Love For Me

No mountain too high. No valley too low
No ocean to wide or depth below
Can ever compare to your majesty
So I stand in awe of your love for me

No thunder too loud or lightning so bright
No sunset to bold or star in the night
Can ever compare to your glory Lord
So I stand in awe of your love for me

I stand in awe that you would come down
From heaven above from your lofty throne
To die in my place on a cross of shame
Be buried alone and then rise again

Oh what a wonderful love that you gave
To a sinner like me when you poured out your grace
Now I will worship and give you my praise
Because I stand in awe of your love for me

No matter how hard I try, I can’t understand why He loved me. He was seated on the throne in heaven. All the earth was His footstool because He created all things. He made the seas and the mountains, the stars and the birds. He made the lightning roar and the thunder clap. He put order to the universe and an atmosphere in this planet. He was above all. Then the Father said “It’s time,” and He left His throne and all of heaven behind and came as a baby in a manger. He grew up, taught us the love of the Father, healed all manner of illness, and yet was crucified. He was wounded for me, scourged for me, beaten for me. I was a wretched sinner, cursing God with every breath, yet He loved me. He made me new just as He made all of creation new. I am no longer the same but I have been bought with a price – the price of His blood. What a great love He has for me.

Romans 8:38-39 King James Version (KJV)
38 For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come,
39 Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

I’m Tired

I’m tired of waiting. Waiting for you
For you to come through in this hour

I’m tired of hoping. Hoping that you.
Will carry me through with your power

Lord, I need you now. I don’t know how I can go on in this life
Lord, I need you now. Come set me free with your hand of mercy

I’m tired of watching the waves rolling in
The struggle within growing stronger

Then suddenly I hear your voice
You say to me my child rejoice
Your prayer has been heard in heaven
My mercy and my grace is here
There is no longer need to fear
The answer to your prayer is given

Lord, I thank you now. I don’t know how I could have doubted your love
Lord, I thank you now. With all my heart I lift my voice to praise you
With all my heart I lift my voice to praise you
With all my heart I lift my voice to praise you

There are often times when we get anxious about our prayers. We wonder if God has heard us. We wonder if God will answer our request. We wonder why He is taking so long to let us know His decision. We are not alone in this anxiety. Fourteen times in the Psalms David asks the Lord “How long?”. Job asked this of the Lord 7 times. I would say we are in good company when we ask how long, Lord. Daniel waited 21 days for an answer. Abraham waited seventeen years for an heir. The children of Israel waited 40 years before they entered the promised land and seventy years they toiled in exile before their prayers of deliverance were answered.

Take heart. God does hear your prayers. He will most assuredly answer them in His time and in His way because He loves you

Jeremiah 33:3 King James Version (KJV)
3 Call unto me, and I will answer thee, and show thee great and mighty things, which thou knowest not.

Deeper In Love With You

Deeper in love with you
Deeper my Lord
Help me grow deeper in love with you Lord
Purge me with hyssop
Make my life pure
Deeper in Love with you forevermore

Draw me in closer
Closer to you
Deeper and deeper in love with you Lord

Sin comes so easily into my life. I am riding along with my Lord so calmly and all of a sudden there it is again. A harsh word, a little white lie, a backbite here and there or maybe something more serious yet more hidden. Sin is always lurking at the door. There is only one way to keep it at bay. A deep, deep love for Jesus and the sacrifice He made that day on the cross. Knowing that He paid the bitter price for my sin, and now will sprinkle His blood with the sweetness of hyssop over my transgressions should be enough to bring me deeper in love with Him.. After all, He is in love with me! And I have done nothing to deserve it. He has done so much to deserve my love. Oh, Lord how I want to be deeper in love with you!

Psalm 51:7 King James Version (KJV)
7 Purge me with hyssop, and I shall be clean: wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow.

You Are My All In All (with music)

All that I need
All that I want
All I require
All of my hope
All of my joy
All I desire
Is in you, Oh Lord
Is in you, Oh Lord

You are my all in all, My everything
You are my wonderful loving King
You are the light that guides my path
You are the way to life that lasts
You are the truth that keeps me safe at night

I will praise you
I will praise you
I will praise you
I will praise you

Where would I be without you, Lord? How could I live without your loving hand holding onto mine? I do not want to go through a day without you by my side. You guide me, protect me, deliver me, provide for me, watch over me, love me and fill me with peace and joy. Life is worth living because you have given me hope. Today, tomorrow and every day to come I will lift my hands to praise you. Ever minute of every second I will lift up my voice and my mind to worship your name. Your name is Jesus Christ, Son of the Most High, Lamb of God, Rose of Sharon, Bright and Morning Star, Alpha and Omega, Ruler of Heaven and Earth, King of Kings and Lord of Lords. All that I want and need is to know you.

Psalm 16:5 King James Version (KJV)
5 The LORD is the portion of mine inheritance and of my cup: thou maintainest my lot.
