I’ve had a change of lifestyle

Through the last 40 years
I’ve walked through hills and valleys

I’ve shed a lot of tears

My life before was earthly
Filled with drugs and drink
My mind was in the gutter
My tongue spewed only stink
But then I met my Savior
He washed my sins away
He’s changed my life completely
Now mercy fills my days
There’s still vestigial sins
That haunt my tongue and mind
Every day I ask the Lord
To free me from my pride
For pride us what will keep me
From giving all to Him
When I control this heart of mine

He Came Back For Me

As a child I grew up in church so many years ago
As a teen I turned my back on God and wandered
In my early twenties I had truly lost my way
My life was heading down a lonely path

My mind had become mixed up from the things that I was taking
My body was a scrawny, hippie mess
Most people thought that I was destined to be left behind
Then suddenly my life was turned around

He came back for me
Jesus came and met me where I was
He told me that He loved me
Abd that He died for me
I asked Him to take over my life

Over forty years ago this all happened in my life
I have never turned my back on Him again
And I know if you have walked away and found you’re lost
That He’ll come back for you just the same

He doesn’t ask us where we’ve been
He doesn’t ask us what we did
He doesn’t ask us why we left
He doesn’t ask us why we hid
He tells us that He loves us
He wraps His arms around us
He asks us to be His
And I chose to be His because

He came back for me
Jesus came and met me where I was
He told me that He loved me
And that He died for me
I asked Him to take over my life

There’s a song that I sing when I look back
At all He has done for me
It’s a song of great joy and assurance
That His grace and His mercy are free

This truth became true in my lifetime
When I confessed Jesus as Lord
I was worn out and tired of my troubles
When He told me I was adored

He sent His Son to live
He sent His Son to die
He sent His Son to be my sinless sacrifice
He sent His Son to rise
Beyond the cloudy skies
He sent His Son so I could have eternal life

You can have this salvation in your life
It’s not very far away
Just reach out and hold onto Jesus
Then you’ll find your life new everyday

I used to be quite inglorious
In fact I was downright preposterous
My words were absurd
My way was obscured
I was never very harmonious

Then I found a way to righteousness
Because mine was surely a filthy mess
Jesus came to me
Then He set me free
Now by His grace my life has been blessed

Now I don’t mean to sound sanctimonious
Because that would be quite erroneous
His blessings will come
If you make Him number one
Then He would make you victorious

What An Awesome Feeling

By faith I claim my healing
From cancer’s ugly snare
Not one small symptom will remain
Good health beyond compare

By faith I am delivered
From such a dread disease
There is no power on earth that lasts
When Jesus sends His peace

What a righteous Savior
Redeemer friend indeed
That by His grace He saved me
Supplied my every need
What an awesome feeling
What a gracious God
That He would give this faith to me
Then bask me in His love

By faith I’ll share my story
So others will gain hope
The Word of God goes forth to bring
An anchor to their soul

By faith I’ll stand before Him
Once again made whole
No power on earth can keep me from
The healing He will show

What a righteous Savior
Redeemer friend indeed
That by His grace He saved me

What an awesome feeling
What a gracious God
That He would give this faith to me
Then bask me in His love

I’ll walk by faith in God above
I’ll claim His Word more than enough

What God Can Do

He placed the stars in heaven one by one
He made the earth the moon and the sun
He set them all in flight
They move both day and night
To make this planet just the place for us

He made a man from dust that was the earth
He breathed into the man his spirit birth
Then He took a rib
And made a wife Him
So they would multiply and fill this earth

It is incredible what God can do
It is phenomenal He does this for you
It is remarkable that he loves you
Isn’t it wonderful this is all true

He sent His only Son to take all our sins
Died on a cruel cross our victory to win
Then He rose again
Eternal life to gain
He did it all so we’ll be with Him

Open the Flood Gates

His mercy and grace abounded to me
When I saw the blood at Calvary
Was meant to pardon and set me free
The flood gates were open wide

Now when I look up at that old rugged cross
I now longer see the life that was lost
My eyes now are open to know of the cost
He paid just to give me life

Wonderful Savior
Glorious Lord
Abounding in mercy
Fulfilling your word
Perfect redemption
Bought with your blood
I lift your praise up high

Open the flood gates of mercy today
Open them wide so all can be saved
Open my mouth so I’ll declare your ways
Sharing the message of life

My soul will honor your name
My voice will sing out
Hosanna to Jesus

Sound Steady

I cannot guess the timing
For no one knows the day
The time of His arriving
Is not too far away

I pray that you are ready
To answer His great call
The trumpet will sound steady
And He will gather all

All who call Him Savior
All who call Him Lord
If you have His favor
If He your heart adores

I may be premature
By thinking you are saved
If you’re not really sure
Please get saved today!

He’s Always Enough

When I think of His mercy
His wonderful mercy
My heart has to give Him praise to

And when I think of His grace
Amazing grace
I lift up His holy name

When I think of the day
He died for me
I’m awed by His undying love

When I think that He’s with me
Every day
I know that He’s always enough

He’s always enough for me
He meets all my deepest needs
When I was lost
He paid the cost
He’s always enough for me

When I think of this world
And all that it offers
It simply cannot compare

To the blessings He promises
In His word
They come true to me every day

When I think of the heaven
That waits for me
Because He gave His life for me

I’ll keep pressing on
To draw closer to Him
And one day His face I will see

Metamorphosis

Creeping
Crawling
Slowly moving
Along the ground
Up the trunk
Out on the branch
Onto the leaf
Food to eat
Bound to the branch
So as not to fall
Encumbered by this world
A slow but steady life

Spinning
Weaving
Slowly surrounding
Strong cord attached
Hanging from that branch
Encased in the cocoon
Waiting in the tomb
Bound to the branch

Waiting

Opening
Revealing
Glorious beauty
Wings of flight
Emerge from the cocoon
Flying high for all to see
Landing on the leaf
Free from the branch
No more bound
Unencumbered
New life
Freedom

Trying
Yearning
Our souls cry out
Desiring freedom from sin
From our wicked ways
Christ crawls on the cross
He enters the tomb
He arises anew
Bringing new life in His wings
No more bound to sin
We are free to soar
Free from sin
Free forevermore
