Three in the morn
Darkness
Fills the skies
Fills the air
Fills my sight
Cloud fused moonlight
Stars obscured
Street light shine in town
Some house lights ondarkne
To keep the darkness out
But out on the path
Way at the end
No light filters in
Eyes don’t see the trail
Flashlight needed to navigate
Finding my way
In the dark
Solitude
Quiet all around
No one else moving
No dogs barking
No cars moving
No birds singing
Only the sound of silence
Fills the air
Beautiful quiet
In which to pray To meditate
To reflect on God’s goodness
He speaks
I listen
I hear
Poems come
Return to house
I write
You read
Mercy flows
All are blessed
By the darkness
Into which His light speaks

The sun rises slow
Then sets down below
In beauty that shows

These are the little mercies that come each day
Mercies we miss all the time
Open your eyes
To God only wise
And see that His mercy does shine

The flowers all bloom
The Veggies look good
The trees wave in tune

My breath still arrives
There’s light in my eyes
The sounds are alive

Limitless Mercy

My days have not always been joyful
His peace has not always been mine
I struggled with sin
Such anger within
I needed a fresh start in life

Then one day I cried out to Jesus
I made Him my Savior and Lord
He showed me His grace
My sin was erased
His mercy became my rewardmercy

His limitless mercy has washed over me
Like stars in the heavens no end do I see
The grace that has pardoned my sin runs so deep

Now joy bubbles up from my Spirit
His peace always makes my heart glad
His presence is near
I find solace here
The best friend that I’ve ever had

When it comes to the mercy of my God
I don’t know where to start
He gave His only beloved Son
To purify my heart

When I think of the grace that he bestows
The list grows rather long
Day after day His blessings flow
And to me they belong

And when I think of the patience He and with me
I don’t know where to begin
I was running from Him for oh so long
I’m sure it was running thin

But He loved me then and He loves me know
And He’ll love me forevermore
I can  only lift up my heart and sing
To my precious, wondrous Lord

When I think of His mercy
His wonderful mercy
My heart has to give Him praise to

And when I think of His grace
Amazing grace
I lift up His holy name

When I think of the day
He died for me
I’m awed by His undying love

When I think that He’s with me
Every day
I know that He’s always enough

He’s always enough for me
He meets all my deepest needs
When I was lost
He paid the cost
He’s always enough for me

When I think of this world
And all that it offers
It simply cannot compare

To the blessings He promises
In His word
They come true to me every day

When I think of the heaven
That waits for me
Because He gave His life for me

I’ll keep pressing on
To draw closer to Him
And one day His face I will see

Always Enough

Where do I go when I’m hurting
Deep down I’m lost in despair
I look to Jesus my Savior
I know I’ll find comfort there

Where do I go when I’m restless
Wondering what life will bring
I look to Jesus my Savior
His peace will calm everything

All that I need
I find in Him
All I desire
Will come from Him
He’ll never leave
He’ll always love
Trusting in Him
Is always enough

Where do I go when I’m lonely
Feeling my friends have all gone
I look to Jesus my Savior
He’ll walk with me through the storm

Where do I go when I’m weary
When I just can’t finish the race
I go to Jesus my Savior
He strengthens me by His grace

Then when I finish this journey
When my life on this earth is done
He’ll come along
And carry me home
Through His sweet mercy I’ve won

All that I need

All I desire
Will come from Him

Mercy Washed Over Me

It’s mercy that called me
Mercy that saved me
Mercy that changed my life
Once I was lost
Now I am found
Mercy washed over me

Dirty and tired from the trials of life
My path seemed always uphill
Never a momemt of peace or  joy
Only some temporal thrills
Often I found myself wandering
Sometimes I thought I was drowning
Life was a game
Of troubles and pain
I was stuck without a way out

Determined to better my future
I looked for a way more secure
Thoroughly drained from my prevoius ways
I was anything but pure
I’d given up hope of resolving
The whirlpool where I was revolving
Bent out of shape
Hope had escaped
How could I get turned about

Then His love came in
Washed away my sin
Gave me peace I never had known
Oh the depth of love
That came down from above
His grace has made me whole

It’s mercy that called me
Mercy that saved me
Mercy that changed my life
Once I was lost
Now I am found
Mercy washed over me

With all this world does offer
To me most everyday
From wealth and fame and fortune
To pleasures when I stray

With all it’s glitch and glamour
That try to pull and tug
The one thing I have found
Is that Jesus is enough

I’ve seen the charms of this world
I’ve tasted many times
I though I had a good life
But I was dead inside

I heard about a Savior
Who cares not if I’m rough
