He Drew Us

Lovingly He sent His Son, His only Son
To die upon that cross at calvary
Lovingly He asked us to accept the One
That from all our sin could set us free.

Lovingly He sought us when we did not know Him
Lovingly He drew us to His side
Lovingly He longed for us to ask Him to come in
So He could set us free and give us life

Heaven Is Waiting

Your mansion is ready
The streets are all swept
The Light of the city is bright
The angels are singing
The people are gathered
For the moment that you will arrive

There hoping and longing
That soon you’ll be with them
You’ve been apart way to long
But the questions remains
As the days dwindle past
Who will you bring along

Heaven is waiting for you
The crowds are all dressed in white
Find someone today
And show them the way
Take someone to heaven with you

We have been asked to preach
His good news to everyone
So they might believe and be saved
If we’ll just do that task
We’ll have our reward
Find someone who needs His grace

There will be singing
There will be shouting
There will be dancing around the throne
Lots of rejoicing
Loud Hallelujah’s
The day you bring someone else home

Heaven is waiting for you
The crowds are all dressed in white
Find someone today
And show them the way
Take someone to heaven with you

Saving Grace

I can’t find a way to tell you
How much Jesus means to me
Until you recognize His saving grace
He is more than just a friend
And more than just a crutch
He’s the one who on the cross did take my place

I was lost and meant for hell
When He came to me and called
He told me that He loved me more than life
That’s why so many years ago
He gave His life for me
And rescued me from all my sin and strife

And in case you didn’t know
He did it for you, too
For everyone who calls on Him He saves
So won’t you pray today
And ask Him to come in
And then you’ll recognize His saving grace

You Pull Me Through

I believe in you Lord
I believe in your sovereign grace
There is nothing to hard you cannot do
I believe in you Lord
I believe in your mercy
Every time I have need you pull me through

I’ve had troubles and I’ve had sorrows
You were always there for me
In my deepest darkest hours
I can trust in your love for me

In the times that evil sought me
I just ran into your arms
There you held me ever closely
Kept me safe from fear and harm

I believe in you Lord
I believe you’re my resting place
When I’m tired and alone you’re there for me
I believe in you Lord
I believe you’re my stronghold
When I’m weak and afraid you’ll comfort me

I’ve had sickness over take me
You have healed me every time
I’ve had days that doubt abounded
Then your Spirit spoke new life

Every time I find myself falling to far
You come and pick me up with your strong arm
Every time I can’t find faith
You come with your sweet grace
And bring me back to shelter with your love

I believe in you Lord
I believe in your sovereign grace
There is nothing to hard you cannot do
I believe in you Lord
I believe in your mercy
Every time I have need you pull me through

Keeping Him Around

The last 10 months has been quite a journey
Through the battle we face with cancer
Two stem cell transplants on top of chemo
Has helped to give us some answers

I have to admit that my body is saying
That this has been quite overwhelming
I have also been blessed by a wife at my side
Who has truly been quite amazing

But the biggest thing I have going for me
Is my faith in an Almighty God
Who comforts me day after day with His love
I just know He will not let me down

I have been overwhelmed by the strength He has given
When my strength has hit the ground
I know that my health will one day be whole
As long as I keep Him around

The Matchless Gift

I remember the day He called to me
In a church so far away
His spirit reached out and captured me
As the altar call was played
But I could not move out of my seat
As I sat with hand up raised
And we left that night before I prayed
To ask Jesus in my heart

Later that week the pastor came
To my friend’s house to see me
He asked if I wanted to pray that prayer
And I told him yes sir please
As I prayed I felt my body chill
And the sweat gushed out if me
I knew that Jesus had come in
And I knew He had touched me

What a wonder
What a Savior
What a matchless gift He gives
What a privilege
What a mystery
How He washed away my sin
I will always have that memory
Of the day He saved my soul
I have never been the same again
As He made my new life whole

I returned back home to my job and friends
But a change had just occurred
And I realized I had to change
I went back to my old church
I counseled with the pastor
And I lent my voice to the choir
But the friends I used to hang with
Were still there to lead me sour

Two years went by and I changed a lot
But the old ways wouldn’t go
I went back out to Iowa
I found a love that God had sown
Two months later I moved out that way
And I married that lady fair
Thirty-eight years later we’re serving God
And I know He’s always there

What a wonder
What a Savior
What a matchless gift He gives
What a privilege
What a mystery
How He washed away my sin

I will always have that memory
Of the day He changed my life
I have never been the same again
Since the day I took my wife
Jesus gave her to me
It’s the best thing He has giv’n
What a wonderful redeemer
He has made this life worth liv’n

What a wonder
What a Savior
What a matchless gift He gives
What a privilege
What a mystery
How He washed away my sin

Turning Trials to Blessings

I always enjoyed working
around the house
dishes
vacuuming
laundry
my office
keeping things clean
and neat
and tidy

But now that’s gone
I don’t have
the strength
and my wife
would be upset
if I did too much
due to cancer treatments
so I sit
and write
and study
cleaning my heart
and mind
with the word

I am really
enjoying it
not because
I avoid the housework
but I enjoy
the minstry of it
the spiritual growth
I am feeling
and blessing others
through the trial

Never discount
the trials
in your life
they will usually
bring great
blessing
if you allow them to.

Simpler Life

I’ve tried real hard

throughout my life

To be a step ahead

The hurry and the scurry

always kept my

Wondering

What if I resist

The urge

To keep up with the Joneses

And I just lived

A simpler life

With Christ
What I found

When I slowed down

Was peace

And joy

I’d never known

I found contentment

Even in hard times

Because I knew

He was there

What a find

What a privilege

To have Him

There
Now I do my best

To resist

The call of the world

And respond to

The call of

Christ

Sweet Smelling Savor

A movie was made a while ago
Scent of a Woman the story told
Al Pacino won the Oscar gold
A performance I truly admired

I’ll trade any day the scents from this world
For the sweet smelling savor of prayers to our Lord
Rising to meet Him in heaven adored
As an offering He will accept

So enjoy all you can this old world and it’s smells
Because one day He’ll come we know this quite well
The day and the hour no human can tell
Be ready for His soon return
