A Resounding Change

My ears are often funny|
In looks and sounds I fear
There is a constant ringing
That is often all I hear

I can’t wait to get to heaven
That ringing sound will change
To the titinnabulnation
Of the angel chorus praise

Holy holy holy
Great and powerful is He
Jesus Christ our mighty Savior
By His blood He set us free

Holy holy holy
To the Lamb upon the throne
Great in Majesty and Mercy
Our praise to Him alone

Abounding

Abounding in mercy
Forgiveness for me
My sins are gone
You set me free

Abounding in grace
Blessings for me
Pour down from heaven
Great gifts I receive

Jesus, my Jesus
You paid the price for me
Died on a cross for me
So I might live
Jesus my Jesus
You rose again for me
Hear my prayers constantly
Always you give

Abounding in joy
Bubbling in me
Even in hard times
My soul is happy

Abounding in peace
You left for me
Not like the world has
Your peace is real

Jesus, my Jesus
You paid the price for me
Died on a cross for me
So I might live
Jesus my Jesus
You rose again for me
Hear my prayers constantly
Always you give

Then there is your love
Your unfailing love
Flowing from heaven
Reaching my soul
Your love abounds
More than I can respond
It’s deeper and wider
And lasts all life long

Jesus, my Jesus
You paid the price for me
Died on a cross for me
So I might live
Jesus my Jesus
You rose again for me
Hear my prayers constantly
Always you give

My Best Friend

I think it is incredible what he has done for me
From way back as a child his love did take the lead
A friend I made at five is my best friend indeed
Sixty years and growing a prayer warrior for me

Riding down the street the call went out that day
“Will you be my friend” was all we had to say
Through childhood and high school close friends we did stay
To Vietnam he went while stateside I remained

We met at a reunion after years of missing him
He went His way i went mine when high school came to end
This friend prayed I’d get saved when I was lost in sin
Then to his home I travelled and asked the Savior in

Two years later I returned to visit him once more
We sang on church tv and found a diner’s door
I asked the pianist if she had one sister more
That sister’s now my wife for years of ten times four

For years this friend and I have had our ups and downs
But even in the worst of times our friendship would rebound
When I came down with cancer his knees were on the ground
His prayers were eminating from a love that did abound

Every day we talked as he encouraged me
He always was a joker and laughter I did need
His prayers were never ceasing and my healing was his plea
Answers kept on coming as God’s mercy covered me

I love this friend of sixty years with all my heart and soul
His prayers have brought me healing and kept my Spirit whole
Our fellowship has brought me even closer to my Lord
Even through his own health battles his prayers bring rewards

Today I celebrate this life-long friend of mine
We have so close a friendship it’s like we’re reading minds
We talk about our passions and our struggles in this life
Friends for life are hard to find and I’m glad that Jason’s mine

Best on my Knees

There was a movie few years back
For tears my eyes did never lack
The transformation was so real
From unknown kid to Blindside whirl

My blindside took me for a ride
It hid itself from my eyes
You see I was brimming with pride
It was eating away my inside

So I went on a Spirit retreat
And really got into God’s meat
I found I was so wrong indeed
And set out fill up my need

My need was for humility
I contrite heart was my plea
Through study I came to see
I was best when down on my knees

Now my blindside is under control
There’s peace deep inside my soul
His mercy made me again whole
Now a humble way I do know

Mercy Meant for Me

I looked to the Lord for healing
My body racked in pain
I knew He would not fail me
He’d healed me again and again

I looked to Him for deliverance
From the guilt stains of past sins
He offered me His salvation
Then delivered me deep within

All of it is mercy
God’s mercy abundant and free
Everything I’m blessed with
Is mercy meant for me

I looked to the Lord for patience
To walk through the trials of life
He said I will always be with you
I’ll give you the strength to survive

I knew then that all would be wonderful
As I looked to the Lord for life
I bowed down and thanked Him for mercy
Abundant and free He supplies

All of it is mercy
God’s mercy abundant and free
Everything I’m blessed with
Is mercy meant for me

Rich

I see the painter linger

His brush poised in the air

He silently is pondering

What this piece will declare

Out there on the horizon

The sun is sinking down

All colors of the rainbow

Can in the clouds be found

Anything the painter draws

Is only a pastiche

Of God’s own great creation

His images are rich

Rich in beauty far beyond

What brush strokes can attain

Rich in all His glorious ways

Shining once again

The painter starts to paint again

His brush strokes slow and calm

He knows this painting will reflect

The beauty of the Lord

Your Daily Word Prompt – Pastiche – July 5th, 2018

Confused

It’s easy to confuse me
It happens all the time
I try to understand things
But then I’m left behind

For instance just this morning
I came to check the prompt
The Reader said that celebrate
Was the word we should adopt

I went into the post attached
And lo what met my eyes
Mellifluous was sitting their
In the text that links these line

I guess that means on this day
As we celebrate our freedom
That we should be mellifluous
In all that’s said and done

Independence Day

Free from my doubt
Free from my shame
Free from my sin
Free from my pain
Free from a life
Full of disdain
Jesus has set me free

Free from my worry
Free from my fear
Free from my lust
Free from my tears
Free from the evil
That once lurked within
Jesus has set me free

He came looking for me when I was bound
He died on a cross in His blood my sin drowned
The day I chose Him as my Lord all the way
Was my Independence Day

Free from distrust
Free from my hate
Free from my anger
Free from bad days
Free from the pride
That once ruled my life
Jesus has set me free

Freedom to love
Freedom with joy
Freedom with peace
Forevermore
You can have freedom
In all of life’s storms
Let Jesus set you free

He came looking for me when I was bound
He died on a cross in His blood my sin drowned
The day I chose Him as my Lord all the way
Was my Independence Day

A Natural Loser

My younger days were testy
I liked to play the games
Games that took my money
And didn’t pay the same

I was a natural loser
When it came to playing cards
I never won the lottery
My gambling days were hard

I’ve left them all behind now
Those gambling days are gone
Now I’ll gambol with my Lord
Until my life is done

As They Appear

Sometimes I hear His sweet voice
Telling me what to write
I jot down the words real quiuckly
So from my mind they won’t take flight

Other times words just flow smoothly
Like a gentle stream after a rain
I write and the words just come to me
This happens again and again

But then there are times like this
When desultory words hit my ear
I don’t have a plan or a care
I just type them out as they appear

Whatever the case I give thanks
To Almighty God above
Because even with words like these
I can tell of His wondrous love

I’ll take every chance I can get
To speak of His amazing grace
I’ll shout of His mercy forever
And one day I’ll see His face.
