Hurried Life

Gift shopping
Food shopping
Buying decorations
Gift wrapping
Food cooking
Cleaning for relations

Busy. busy, busy
Hustle and a-bustle
Bet you cannot wait to relax
Body needs a breather
Mind could use one too
I’ll be glad when holidays are past

Deep down in my spirit
I am still at rest
The  Holy Spirit fills me with peace
And joy just bubbles over
To make me feel so calm
Even when I’m running this race

If you need some rest now
Just ask the Lord to help you
He will hear your prayer right on time
He’ll give you peace and joy
That will calm your hurried life
I’m so glad that I can call Him mine

response to the daily prompt Relax

Every Day

There are days I’m doing fine

Only good things on my mind

I can sing my praise to God with all my heart

But other days I’m moody

And I think that I’m nobody

It’s much harder for my praise of God to start

But then I think about the blessings

He does give, He’s never missing

Every day as long as I have been alive

Things like water, air and wind

All have come straight down from Him

He has given  all I need to I’ll survive

And when I think of that

I just have to tip my hat

And lift my praises high into the sky

For I owe my life to Him

And He promised I would win

I will keep on praising ’til the day  die

The Reason

Bells and lights and bows of holly

Certainly can lead to folly

If we take our eyes of why there here

At Christmas time we celebrate

With food and drink and parties late

The reason for the season isn’t clear

So lets review the story

How Jesus came from glory

To become a sacrifice for all our sin

This baby in the manger

Saved  me from timeless danger

And gave me peace and joy within

So in this Christmas season

Let’s not forget the reason

We celebrate December 25th

It’s not for winter folly

Or a fat man who is jolly

But a Savior in a manger at His birth

Freedom Within

My Mom had taught Jesus to me

In the church since I was just three

But as I grew old

I got kind of bold

He became a condunrum to me

But then in a moment I found

That Jesus was my solid ground

He died for my sin

Gave me freedom within

The conundrum is no longer sound

The First to Praise!

It was a cloudless night

The stars were shining bright

The shepherds wared by fire for their survival

When suddenly appeared

Announcing words of cheer

An angel who bespoke of Christ’s arrival

The shepherds were afraid

The night had turned to day

From the host of angels singing in the choir

Peace on earth, good will to man

Was the song the angles sang

Go and find the child who’s lying in a manger

The shepherds went with haste

To the place the angels said

And they knelt down when they saw the little babe

They worshipped Him that day

As the firsit to give Him praise

And now all of us join in and lift His name

Avoid Angry Bees

If I saw a fire approaching me

Or a sand storm with dust the eye could see

Or even a swarm of angry bees

I’d flee

If a lion was running toward me

Or a tornado that I could see

Or another swarm of angry bees

I’d flee

So how is it then that I don’t see

The danger that sin does have in me

If I knew the fate that awaited me

I’d flee

I’d flee to the Savior who died for me

Gave His life so I’d be free

Then gave me life Eternally

Jesus Christ, my Lord

Celebrate Him

Some trust in gazing

At stars in the sky

Thinking their future is told

Some trust in cards

That are turned one by one

Their story they hope to behold

But now it is Christmas

And many there be

Who wonder if it’s just not cynical

To have such a frenzy

About gifts and food

Around something that seems so mystical

A baby was born

So long ago

And He is our reason for joy

He came to redeem

All of mankind

From the curse of sin here below

So please don’t be fooled

By the gifts and the food

Those things are second to Him

He came to save

We give Him our praise

This Christmas, let’s celebrate Him

Where Is Yours?

Some people have possessions

Their money or their fame

They gather up their treasure

Here on earth to lift their name

But they don’t realize

That all that stuff is just a game

To keep them occupied

Until the final judgment day

There are those of us who store up

All our treasure up above

Where the Lord of all the heavens

Will protect it with His love

Our families and friends

And all the good deeds we have done

Will fill our treasure chest

Until the judgment day has come

On that day, one by one

We’ll be called before his throne

He will open up the book

To see who made Jesus their own

And if their name is written there

Then heaven is their home

And their treasure will be theirs

Forevermore

He Outlasted Me

I fought against the Lord

For many long years

Thinking He’d eventually give up

I did protest His wanting me

To give my life to Him

There were things I just did not want to give up
But He remained persistent

And I learned I needed Him

Because my life was spinning out on control

So I finally called out

And I asked Him to come in

And I gave to Him complete control
Now I wonder why I protested

My life is now complete

And I have the blessed assurance of His love

His joy and peace are constant

And His grace does cover me

And His mercy is abundant by His love

In response to the daily prompt Protest

Tell it Like It Is

Living in this world has it’s moments

When it seems everything goes wrong

As a Christian if I witness with my comments

Theres a chance I won’t be free for very long

Because the Bible says that sin is only covered

By the blood of Jesus Christ, the Son of God

And when we accept ths Son and are converted

We must turn away from sin amd walk with God

If I dare proclaim that sin is sin to some

There are those who’d say I’m speaking out of hate

And they would love to make a martyr of me

Because they don’t want to leave their sinful ways

It matters not what they might do to harm me

My calling is to preach the word of God

So excuse me if I follow what He tells me

I would rather follow Him than man’s applause
