I Am Your Father

When life takes a turn
And hard times arise
It’s easy to doubt God is near
If you will be silent
And wait just a bit
There’s a word that God wants you to hear

I am your Father, faithful and true
I’ll always be here when you call
Do not be fearful I am with you
I’ll pick you up when you fall

I am your Father, holy and just
My grace is sufficient for you
When you feel lost and you can’t find your way
I’ll always guide you through

I am your Father, loving and kind
I listen each time that you pray
I’ll send an answer when my time is right
There will never be a delay

I lift up my voice
To the Father above
And thank Him for all He has done
The calm reassurance
He puts in my heart
Tells me that the victory’s won

Heavenly Father, I give you praise
I lift up my voice to your name
I worship you from the depths of my heart
You’ve lifted me up by your grace

My Heart Cries Out

I’m not sure what this day will bring
Or how it will turn out
I only know what I feel now
And what I think about
It’s early in the morning
The sun has just come out
And though I am still waking up
I feel a coming shout

A shout of praise is welling
Deep down inside my soul
I cannot stop the movement
I love to praise my Lord
This feeling overtakes me
My voice begins to toll
Like a loud and clanging bell
I ring out for my Lord

Hallelujah, Praise His name
Jesus  Christ my King
Hallelujah, He is Lord
He’s my everything
Glory to His holy name
I will shout and sing
Hallelujah, worship Him
Jesus Christ my King

This day would never be complete
If I did not praise His name
I start out in the morning
And praise Him all the day
Then when the sun is setting
My heart will sing His praise
This day will be fulfilling
Because His name was raised

Hallelujah, Praise His name
Jesus  Christ my King
Hallelujah, He is Lord
He’s my everything
Glory to His holy name
I will shout and sing
Hallelujah, worship Him
Jesus Christ my King

Cooped Up

A long night
of darkness
and cold
a foot of snow
blankets the ground
winter

The driveway
covered
the streets
plowed
but snow topped
slippery travel
ahead

I sit
drop foot and braces
both feet
unstable
walking outside
off limits
cooped up
in my house
waiting

Sun
will warm
clouds
will go
snow
will melt
birds
will sing
spring

Confound he Wise

It’s not that complicated
It doesn’t take a lot
To free yourself  from sin
And make it right with God

In fact, it’s rather simple
And that confounds the wise
All you have to  do is pray
And accept His sacrifice

Once you’ve taken that step
You’re life is right with Him
You can know your heaven bound
And have His peace within

My Way Back

I saw the old man
walk into church that Sunday morn
His clothes were tattered
his skin was worn
I could smell the hardness of life
Three pews away
And I was ready to move
when I heard him pray

I’ve got to find my way back to you
I’ve drifted too far away
Not sure how far I’ve strayed
I’ve got to find my way back to you
Please keep shining your light
into this night
that I’m going thru
He sat alone

no one dared to come near
The music started
he bowed his head
I could see the tears
were running down his face
As we sang Amazing Grace
he looked up and prayed

Dear God
I’m not sure what I need to do
My life is such a big mess
I can’t find any rest
Dear God
please show me what I need to do
To get turned around
and be grounded in you again

I could feel the tears
start running from my eyes
And while the music played on
I moved to his side
I said friend
the Lord has heard your cry
Would you come with me right now
I will help you find your way

As the music
played just as I am
We knelt down
bowed our heads
closed our eyes
and he started to pray

Father forgive me
for the wrongs I have done
I give you my life
I’ll follow your Son
I promise my life
will be yours from now on
Dear Jesus
thank you for my friend

Then he took my hand
and gave a gentle squeeze
A smile as big as heaven
broke his weary, worn face
I know that he’d met Jesus
and I looked up in praise

Lord I thank you
for showing us the way
When we get lost on the path
you keep drawing us back
Lord I thank you
for this new-found friend
Yes he found his way back
all the way back to you

Thank Him

One little, two little, three little lepers
Four  little, five little, six little lepers
Seven little, eight little,, nine little lepers
Ten lepers cleansed by Jesus

One came back to thank Him after
Jesus made him whole thereafter
The lesson here is what we’re after
God deserves our thanks

Thank Him for healing
Thank Him for provision
Thank Him for deliverance
Thank  Him for salvation
Thank Him for everything
Give thanks to Him at all times
And He will make you whole!

Where Is Christ

I see you

Sitting in darkness

Covered by life

Smelly

Dirty

Overtaken in dismay

Disheartened

Defeated

Lost

I wonder

How you got there

What was you’re life

Successful

Happy

Enriched by children

Bright future

Victorious

Alive

Then it all fell apart

Crumbled

Like a house of cards

All gone

Job

Family

Respect

Position

One mistake

All gone

I don’t see

Your need

I blind myself

I shut my mind

I walk on by

Where is Christ

Where is mercy

Where is compassion

Where is love

Christ

Is in you

Calling out

Wanting me to turn

To open the door

To let you in

Christ

Is in me

Begging to act

To touch you

To heal you

To bring peace

Bring joy

I don’t listen

I walk on by

I fail

Help me, Lord

To open my eyes

And my heart

To you.

Harmful Destination

I never would have guessed
That what I thought was best
Was really just a harmful destination
When I looked around
I ultimately found
My life was headed for some devastation

So I listened to  a friend
Cared for where I’d land
He told me I should give my  life to Jesus
I did the very same
And now my  life is tame
I  know that in  His mercy I can trust

In response to the daily prompt Devastation

Precious Time

I’m awake

Sleep still lingers

Eyes are opening

Dim light

From the kitchen

Dull illumination

Filters in

I’m awake

First things first

Time to praise Him

The Lord of all

Kings of Kings

My Savior

Jesus Christ

I lift His mighty name

And thank Him

He has been so good to me

Now prayer

Prayer for healing

Of my friends

They need a touch

Today

Prayer for direction

For finances

For protection in Turkey

For provision

All for friends

A thank you Lord

From me

I feel His hand upon me

As I write these simple words

I cannot help but wonder

Who am I

That He would take the time

To hear my little prayer

The God of all creation

By my side

And on this quiet morning

While everyone’s asleep

I pen these words before

I rise from bed

I know the Lord goes with me

As my day will soon begin

So I roll back on my side

And rest my head

Early morning

No one waking

Quiet fills the room

Time with God

Precious time

Can’t wait

‘Til it comes again
