The Eye of the Storm

You are the eye of the storm
A calm from the wind and the rain
When I kneel and pray
You send me your grace
Bringing peace to my life once again

You are the rainbow so bright
After thunder and lightning suspend
When I’m in a mess
I see your faithfulness
Bringing hope that the trial will end

I will kneel at your feet and adore you
I will lift up my hands in praise
Because you are my fortress and refuge
I will worship your holy name

You are the sunrise at morn
Shedding light that pierces the dark
The birds sing their song
And I sing along
Bringing joy in the depth of my heart

Hallelujah I am free
Hallelujah I am saved
Hallelujah I’m delivered
By the power of your name

I will kneel at your feet and adore you
I will lift up my hands in praise
Because you are my fortress and refuge
I will worship your holy name

Hurricanes amaze me. Swirling around with winds of up to 170 MPH in the fiercest storms, they wander across the ocean on a path that meteorologists can only guess at. So massive that if one of these larger hurricanes were placed over the state of Iowa, where I live, it would cover the whole state with tropical force winds. The winds at the center, a place called the eye wall, are the strongest in the whole circulation. But even in these monstrous storms, in the center is calm. The eye of the storm often brings sunlight and blue skies between the walls of rain, It is a place of peace.

Our God is our refuge, our fortress, our place of peace in the midst of the trials of our lives. We can depend on Him to keep us safe and deliver us from harm. He will never fail us and never forsake us. What a wonderful God we serve!

Psalm 91:1-2 King James Version (KJV)
91 He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.
2 I will say of the LORD, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust.

The Believers Life

Your Love For Me

No mountain too high. No valley too low
No ocean to wide or depth below
Can ever compare to your majesty
So I stand in awe of your love for me

No thunder too loud or lightning so bright
No sunset to bold or star in the night
Can ever compare to your glory Lord
So I stand in awe of your love for me

I stand in awe that you would come down
From heaven above from your lofty throne
To die in my place on a cross of shame
Be buried alone and then rise again

Oh what a wonderful love that you gave
To a sinner like me when you poured out your grace
Now I will worship and give you my praise
Because I stand in awe of your love for me

No matter how hard I try, I can’t understand why He loved me. He was seated on the throne in heaven. All the earth was His footstool because He created all things. He made the seas and the mountains, the stars and the birds. He made the lightning roar and the thunder clap. He put order to the universe and an atmosphere in this planet. He was above all. Then the Father said “It’s time,” and He left His throne and all of heaven behind and came as a baby in a manger. He grew up, taught us the love of the Father, healed all manner of illness, and yet was crucified. He was wounded for me, scourged for me, beaten for me. I was a wretched sinner, cursing God with every breath, yet He loved me. He made me new just as He made all of creation new. I am no longer the same but I have been bought with a price – the price of His blood. What a great love He has for me.

Romans 8:38-39 King James Version (KJV)
38 For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come,
39 Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

I’m Tired

I’m tired of waiting. Waiting for you
For you to come through in this hour

I’m tired of hoping. Hoping that you.
Will carry me through with your power

Lord, I need you now. I don’t know how I can go on in this life
Lord, I need you now. Come set me free with your hand of mercy

I’m tired of watching the waves rolling in
The struggle within growing stronger

Then suddenly I hear your voice
You say to me my child rejoice
Your prayer has been heard in heaven
My mercy and my grace is here
There is no longer need to fear
The answer to your prayer is given

Lord, I thank you now. I don’t know how I could have doubted your love
Lord, I thank you now. With all my heart I lift my voice to praise you
With all my heart I lift my voice to praise you
With all my heart I lift my voice to praise you

There are often times when we get anxious about our prayers. We wonder if God has heard us. We wonder if God will answer our request. We wonder why He is taking so long to let us know His decision. We are not alone in this anxiety. Fourteen times in the Psalms David asks the Lord “How long?”. Job asked this of the Lord 7 times. I would say we are in good company when we ask how long, Lord. Daniel waited 21 days for an answer. Abraham waited seventeen years for an heir. The children of Israel waited 40 years before they entered the promised land and seventy years they toiled in exile before their prayers of deliverance were answered.

Take heart. God does hear your prayers. He will most assuredly answer them in His time and in His way because He loves you

Jeremiah 33:3 King James Version (KJV)
3 Call unto me, and I will answer thee, and show thee great and mighty things, which thou knowest not.

Deeper In Love With You

Deeper in love with you
Deeper my Lord
Help me grow deeper in love with you Lord
Purge me with hyssop
Make my life pure
Deeper in Love with you forevermore

Draw me in closer
Closer to you
Deeper and deeper in love with you Lord

Sin comes so easily into my life. I am riding along with my Lord so calmly and all of a sudden there it is again. A harsh word, a little white lie, a backbite here and there or maybe something more serious yet more hidden. Sin is always lurking at the door. There is only one way to keep it at bay. A deep, deep love for Jesus and the sacrifice He made that day on the cross. Knowing that He paid the bitter price for my sin, and now will sprinkle His blood with the sweetness of hyssop over my transgressions should be enough to bring me deeper in love with Him.. After all, He is in love with me! And I have done nothing to deserve it. He has done so much to deserve my love. Oh, Lord how I want to be deeper in love with you!

Psalm 51:7 King James Version (KJV)
7 Purge me with hyssop, and I shall be clean: wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow.

You Are My All In All (with music)

All that I need
All that I want
All I require
All of my hope
All of my joy
All I desire
Is in you, Oh Lord
Is in you, Oh Lord

You are my all in all, My everything
You are my wonderful loving King
You are the light that guides my path
You are the way to life that lasts
You are the truth that keeps me safe at night

I will praise you
I will praise you
I will praise you
I will praise you

Where would I be without you, Lord? How could I live without your loving hand holding onto mine? I do not want to go through a day without you by my side. You guide me, protect me, deliver me, provide for me, watch over me, love me and fill me with peace and joy. Life is worth living because you have given me hope. Today, tomorrow and every day to come I will lift my hands to praise you. Ever minute of every second I will lift up my voice and my mind to worship your name. Your name is Jesus Christ, Son of the Most High, Lamb of God, Rose of Sharon, Bright and Morning Star, Alpha and Omega, Ruler of Heaven and Earth, King of Kings and Lord of Lords. All that I want and need is to know you.

Psalm 16:5 King James Version (KJV)
5 The LORD is the portion of mine inheritance and of my cup: thou maintainest my lot.

Rock of Ages

When the storm clouds gather
And the North wind roars
Do not be discouraged
God will make you soar
High above your troubles
Where the sky is clear
You’re on higher ground
When the Lord is near

He lifts me up to higher ground
He calms my soul without a sound
I know I’m safe when He’s around
He is my rock of ages

Rock of ages, fortress strong
Rock of ages, I’ll go on
Jesus, Lord, please keep me safe
You’re my rock of ages

David writes many psalms about the one who is his fortress, his refuge, his strong tower. There will be storms that rage in our lives. There will be trouble on ever side. There will be heartache and there will be strife. But Jesus says He has overcome the world! He has overcome to bring us joy, peace, and hope. His love has brought us up out of the grave of sin and set our feet on solid ground. He is our rock and our fortress strong.

So don’t get lost in the storm. I live in the Midwest and we get blizzards quite often out here. The first thing they tell you is not to get out of your car if you are stranded. In a blizzard you can easily get disoriented and turned around if you start walking. Stay in the car. Stay in Jesus loving arms when the storm comes. Strand on the Rock and you will be safe.

Isaiah 26:4 New American Standard Bible (NASB)
4 “Trust in the LORD forever, For in [a]GOD the LORD, we have an everlasting Rock.

You Can Do It

I walk through the valley alone and afraid
Not knowing what will appear
The shadows surround me and I lose my way
I finally succumb to my fear

I try to escape the darkness and gloom
The sin that has hold on my life
Then I hear you whisper as quiet as dew
My child don’t despair in this night

You can do it with my strength
You can do it through my grace
You can come through this quagmire of life
You can do it with me
As I give you mercy
Don’t despair when your lost in the night

Suddenly light shines around me
The path becomes clear up ahead
Once again I know God walks beside me
I am sure I have nothing to dread
As He speaks

You can do it with my strength
You can do it through my grace
You can come through this quagmire of life
You can do it with me
As I give you mercy
Don’t despair when your lost in the night

Sometimes I get myself into situations that make me cringe. Why did I travel down this road? Why do I get lost in this sin? I brought myself here. Yes, the devil lured me in with His temptations and I succumbed to him, just as Adam and Eve did in the garden. He asks me the same question he asked them on that fateful day. “Did God really say you can’t do that?” When I give any thought to that question, I am in trouble. I know the word well enough to know right and wrong. Yet I walk off the path all too often. I am so glad God is always right thee to bring me back to the path of life. He gives me the strength and the grace to once again walk with Him. Lord, let me stay on this path you have laid out for me! Help me to stay in the light.

Psalm 91:2-3 King James Version (KJV)
2 I will say of the LORD, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust.
3 Surely he shall deliver thee from the snare of the fowler, and from the noisome pestilence.

You’ll See Me Through

Lord I am waiting. Waiting for you
Because I am certain that you’ll see me through

Lord I am hopeful. Hopeful that you
Will hear every prayer that I lift to you

You are so faithful. Faithful to me
You are so faithful. The answer I’ll see
When times get hard. When things seem so dark
I know you are faithful if I’ll do my part

Lord I am praying. Praying to you
For when I cry Jesus your presence is sure

I don’t have to worry. I don’t have to fret
I don’t have to wonder. The answer I’ll get
All that He asks of me. All He requires
Is that I cry out to him. That’s what he desires

How long am I willing to wait? Am I willing to wait 14 years, like Jacob did for Rachel? Am I willing to wait 40 years like Moses did on the back side of the desert, or like the children of Israel in the wilderness? Am I willing to wait once I have killed Goliath to see the promise of God come on my life as David did? Am I willing to wait as the seventy did in the upper room for the promise of God? Am I willing to wait until I am stranded on a deserted island, like John on Patmos?

Most of the time I am not. Most of the time I want my answer now. I want God to do it my way, not His way. I can lose hope real fast, and even stop praying, if I don’t get it when I think I should. I start to think God has forgotten me or given up on me.

But the Bible tells us a different story. The Bible tells us a story about a God who is always faithful, a God who fulfills our hope, A God who answers our prayers. The key is always in the wait. What are you waiting for today? Have faith in the faithful one!

Lamentations 3:22-26 King James Version (KJV)
22 It is of the LORD’s mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not. 23 They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness.
24 The LORD is my portion, saith my soul; therefore will I hope in him.
25 The LORD is good unto them that wait for him, to the soul that seeketh him.
26 It is good that a man should both hope and quietly wait for the salvation of the LORD.

What A Wondrous Love for Me

Lord I often marvel
At what you’ve done for me
Since I first received
Your mercy

Lord I often wonder
How you could hear me pray
Or why you’d take my place
And give me grace

What a wondrous love for me
What a wondrous love for me
Jesus you’re my everything
What a wondrous love for me

Can you even begin to comprehend what Jesus did for you on that cross?  I start to list all that He accomplished and run out of words so quickly.   I mean, didn’t He do enough when He was alive?  He told us of our purpose here on this earth.  We are the salt of the earth and the light of the world.  We will do greater things than He did. Greater than raising the dead,  cleansing the lepers, greater than opening blinded eyes or causing the lane to walk?   It is hard to imagine,  but that’s what He said.

But when He died on that cross, He fully paid the price for our sins. His stripes brought healing, our peace was secured, our salvation was procured and His joy endured.  His amazing love for us was displayed for all of time. What a blessed assurance we have in Him
