Jesus Is Dead

They pierced His side. Blood and water poured out
Jesus was dead there was not a doubt

They took His body from an old rugged cross
Laid Him in a tomb and now we are lost

Shut up in a room and hiding in fear
That solders would come and take us away.

He was our teacher and also our friend
We thought He would come as Messiah and King

He healed the sick and He raised the dead
And now we all grieved because Jesus was dead

He taught us truth and to love everyone
He gave us hope in a heaven above

Sadness was present and tears filled our eyes
We were so close when He was alive

And now we all shuddered up in that room
Praying and hoping to escape doom

"What now?" we all asked where can we go?
Jesus is dead and we are alone

What A Loss

Jesus, King of Kings. Jesus, Lord of Lords
It is you that we adore.
Jesus Lamb of God sent to save the world
Guide us daily by your word

Left your throne in heaven to be born in a manger
Wrapped in swaddling clothes and laid amid the hay
Shepherd's came to worship, wise men bearing gifts
All because a star showed them the way

You grew up as a carpenter like any other boy
Knowing that your destiny would lead you to a cross
Filled with grown up wisdom even as a boy of twelve
Your parents only guessed at what your life would cost

Baptized in the Jordan, doves descend from heaven
Landing on you, standing there as meek as a lamb
Others hear a voice saying this is my son
Having no idea you are the great I AM.

You walked throughout the land healing as you went
Every man and child you touched was changed
Raising up the dead, feeding many thousands
Sending devils running as they called your name

But leaders didn't know you had come to save the world
Your power and authority they could not understand
So they conspired against you and turned the crowds away
After trials you heard "crucify him" all across the land

Whipped and beaten, crown of thorns laid upon your head
Through the streets you had to carry your own cross
Nails thru feet and hands, they hung you between two thieves
They hung you there to die, oh what a loss

You laid in the tomb as disciples wept on sorrow
Women came with spices to anoint the dead
But you arose in splendor, majesty and power
And gave us all the hope of a future in heaven

Jesus, King of Kings. Jesus, Lord of Lords
It is you that we adore.
Jesus Lamb of God sent to save the world
Guide us daily by your word

Jesus You’re Amazing

Jesus you're amazing
You're everything to me
I was dying in my sin
And then you rescued me

Jesus you're amazing
You're more than life to me
When I gave my life to you
You met my deepest need

My need was not for riches
Or for power or for fame
My need was not possessions
Or for fleshly gain
My desperate need was cleansing
Deep down into my soul
And when I gave my life to you
You made me whole

You gave me peace I'd never known
And joy unspeakable
You gave me faith that truly works
And grace unmatchable
You gave forgiveness for my sin
And mercy not deserved
You gave your life so I could live
You taught me how to serve

Jesus you're amazing
You're everything to me
I was dying in my sin
And then you rescued me
Jesus you're amazing
You're more than life to me
When I gave my life to you
You met my deepest need

What Now?

Thursday night was great
As we sat down for a meal
Shared laughter and stories
Enjoyed one another’s company.
Then He broke the bread
As he mildly said
This is my body – take and eat
And he took the cup
And said drink it up
This is my blood shed for you
How can this be?
What does it mean?
A new covenant He brings?
Then we left the room to go and pray
A place where we went day to day
In the darkness of night we walked
And talked of higher purpose
And of love and devotion.
At the garden he prayed
But we could not stay awake
Three times He begged us to pray.
Then soldiers came with torches
They took Him away violently
They pushed us aside like flies
We were stunned, hurt, and confused.
Quickly they judged Him guilty
Quickly they cried Crucify Him
Quickly they beat Him, scarred Him, bruised Him
They made Him carry His cross – such a heavy burden
They nailed Him to it
He cried out, the sky darkened
And then He died.
Gone.
Gone.
What now?
What do I do now?
Where do I go?
What can I say?
In 18 short hours my life is all changed.
What good can come from this?

He Died There For You

In the midst of my troubles when all seems so lost
I turn my eyes upward to that man on the cross
He suffered in anguish pain ripped His soul
Despised and rejected the scars took their toll

In one last, deep breath "It is finished" He said
And He gave up His life and was taken for dead
"What was finished" you ask as you look on that tree
"Did the death of one man make a difference to me"

The plan of salvation that God had begun
In the beginning had now been won
For Jesus took all of our sin on that cross
He gave up His life at a terrible cost

The perfect lamb slain for all of our sin
So that we might find freedom deep down within
Have you knelt at His cross and accepted this truth?
So precious and gracious - he died there for you.
In Hard Times

Peter’s Lament

He’s gone
My best friend
My teacher
My Master
Gone
They crucified Him
After hailing Him as King
They crucified Him
I denied Him
3 times I failed
I denied Him
Today is the sabbath
He is buried
Behind a stone
Sealed and guarded
I cower in fear
Uncertainty and doubt
Will they come for me?
Will they kill my friends?
What will we do?
I will stay low
I have to seek God
I am dazed, confused, lost.
He’s gone – Dead and buried
Gone. My hope, my strength, my life
Gone

What Was Finished?

In the midst of my troubles when all seems so lost
I turn my eyes upward to that man on the cross
He suffered in anguish pain ripped His soul
Despised and rejected the scars took their toll
In one last, deep breath “It is finished” He said

You Walk With Me

You walk with me through the fire
When I feel I'm burning up
You walk with me through the flood
When I feel I'm overwhelmed
You walk with my when I'm hurting
When my soul just needs your love
You walk with me through the desert
When I feel like giving up

You walk with me through the storm
When the thunder just erupts
You walk with me when I'm doubting
When my faith is not enough
You walk with me when I'm lonely
When I just need your touch
You walk with me in my weakness
When my strength has given up

Every time I turn to you
You are there with me
Every time I call to you
You come and comfort me
Every time I pray to you
Down on my knees
I know that you are there
Right beside me

You walked for me to the scourging
As the beat you for my sins
You walked for me with a crown of thorns
That dug deep into your skin
You walked for me up the mountain
Carrying your cross
You walked for me
You hung for me
Took the nails for me
Gave your life for me
Then you rose for me
Intercede for me
So that I can be all that you made me
I am so blessed that every day
You walk with me

First Blood

He was in agony
In the garden of Gethsemane
Bowing His head, down on His knees
The first blood He shed was in prayer
The perfect sacrifice
Not a blemish or a scar
Ready to pay the ultimate price
The first blood He shed was in prayer
They beat Him and mocked Him
Spit in His face
In a trial that broke all their laws
They whipped Him and scourged Him
And crowned Him with thorns
Blood unceasingly dripped to the ground
The made Him carry His cross up a hill
Where beggars and thieves came to die
The drove nails
Through His hands and feet
As they hung Him on that cross
The agony there was when sin entered in
The Father had left Him alone
He never had felt the pain of sin
As His blood quickly seeped in the ground
He had never hurt anyone, never said wrong
Yet He died the most ungodly way
Yet with all of the blond that he shed that day
The first blood He shed was in prayer
Let us never forget the price that He paid
And the blood that was shed that day
But ponder on the significance
That the first blood He shed was in prayer

The Beauty of the Cross

It stands there so stately at the front of the church
Clean and lit up for all to see
We look to that cross and sing all our hymns
The Old Rugged Cross and Amazing Grace

But we don't see the agony, the heartache and pain
That was nailed to that cross on that fateful day
We think the cross is pretty and clean
But the cross that He bore was deadly and mean

We think of mercy and grace so sweet
We think of love and forgiveness of sin
We often forget the suffering and loss
The blood is the real beauty of the cross

The blood that was shed from His hands and His feet
The blood that dropped down from the thorns on His head
The blood that poured out from the scars on His back
His blood shed for me was the beauty of the cross

The blood shed for healing
The blood shed for me
The blood shed for salvation
His glorious blood
The blood of my Savior
The blood of my Lord
The blood of God's son
Given for us.
