His Light Speaks

Three in the morn
Darkness
Fills the skies
Fills the air
Fills my sight
Cloud fused moonlight
Stars obscured
Street light shine in town
Some house lights ondarkne
To keep the darkness out
But out on the path
Way at the end
No light filters in
Eyes don’t see the trail
Flashlight needed to navigate
Finding my way
In the dark
Solitude
Quiet all around
No one else moving
No dogs barking
No cars moving
No birds singing
Only the sound of silence
Fills the air
Beautiful quiet
In which to pray To meditate
To reflect on God’s goodness
He speaks
I listen
I hear
Poems come
Return to house
I write
You read
Mercy flows
All are blessed
By the darkness
Into which His light speaks

I Will Bow My Knee (Music Video)

This is not the poem that I write Sunday put to music.  This chorus was given to me Sunday morning.  I was preparing for the service and planning to read that poem, called “I Will Bow My Knee”.  As I leaned on the piano asking God for guidance during the service (I was preaching also), He gave me this chorus.  Today, he asked me to record it and post it for all of you.  Hope you are blessed by it, but more than that, I hope God is glorified through it.

 

 

Wonder of Wonders

Stars shining bright
Sprinkle the night
Far distant light
Glorious sight

Flowers that bloom
Thunderstorms loom
Threatening doom
Late afternoon

Wonder of wonders Jesus provides
King of creation came here to die
Lord of Lords pardoned my sin and my shame
Wonder of wonders Jesus His name

Lungs breathing air
Eyes focused here
Ears that do hear
Body so dear

He put this vessel together
That I would bring glory to Him
All I can do is lift up His name
And give all my praises to Him

Where, Oh Where, Is the Daily Prompt

It seems I may have missed something along the merry way
I haven’t seen a daily prompt since the end of May
I hope that WordPress has not made this wonder go away
It’s so much fun to face the test every single day

So WordPress if you’re listening please bring this true test back
My day will not be full if this is something that I lack
And I’m sure I’m not alone in my thinking on this fact
This popular attraction should never be attacked!

Signs

The storm gathers
The thunder roars
Lightning fills the sky
The wind billows
The air is humid
Amazement fills my eyes

I can see the signs of a thunderstorm
As it travels from afar
I know enough to find shelter
To protect me from its harm

The wars are raging
The earth is groaning
The weather changes fast
The people fighting
The darkness gaining
His time has come at last

These are the signs of His coming
You can see them bright and clear
He’ll soon part the Eastern sky
And meet us in the air

One day the trump will sound
All the saved shall fly away
If you don’t know the Savior
Repent and be saved today

Downright Weird

There used to be a TV show as silly as could be
You often could not figure out just what you’re going to see
From silliness to downright weird they’d throw these skits at you
You’d find yourself just laughing ’cause it was the thing to do

Today we don’t have Laugh-In or any show that’s close
Well maybe He-Haw fits the bill but that’s not what I chose
I’ll choose the joy of Jesus that He gives me everyday
My spirit always can partake of His amazing grace

Forever and a Day

Always is a long time forever and a day
Always stays right with you it never goes away
Always is a promise Jesus gave us way back when
He said I am with you always until the very end

Always takes us further than our minds can fully grasp
Always will be real to you if you will stop and ask
Always says there’s no time that he is not with you
He said I’m with you always His word is always true

Longer then eternity
Longer then all time
Longer than our life on earth
Always He is mine
Longer then the trials that come
Longer than my pain
Always will be with me
Again and again

Today I will remember the promise that He made
That always He is with me His love will never fade
His joy and peace will follow and always they will stay
His mercy will be present surrounding His sweet grace

And when the day is done
And the sun has gone away
I’ll lift my voice up high
And give my Savior praise
For He has done great things for me
When I called on His name
That truth will never change
It will comfort me always

Never Cease

I sit a round and marvel how the Lord could love me so
He lavishes His grace on me and makes His blessings flow
I think about the times that I cursed His holy name
I ran from Him a million times and got so far away

In retrospective I can see He never left my side
Throughout those trying years He was protecting my hard life
He knew the plans He had for me though I had not a clue
He patiently stood by knowing one day I’d come through

Now I love to serve Him and lift His holy name
Daily I cry out to Him and give Him all my praise
I thank Him that He loved me when I did not love Him
I’ll never cease to offer up my worship unto Him
