Where Will You Gather?

Some people get caught up in things
Like soap operas and TV shows
Their lives revolve around a set
Of characters they think they know

Others are consumed by work
They toil all day and night it seems
Their goal is to achieve the top
But often they get caught in schemes

I prefer to immerse myself
In the Word of God, where life abounds
As I look through His words each day
I hear just joyful, peaceful sounds

To God I’ll gather ’round each day
For that is where I find my rest
If you need more from life today
Open the Word and find God’s best.

You Love Me So

Solemnly

I wait for thee

Your grace

Your love

Your sweet mercy

All around me

This I see

Because you love me so

Silently

I wait for thee

Listening

To hear you speak

Knowing

You will comfort me

Because you love me so

Undeserving

That is me

I am truly

Unworthy

Yet you came

And died for me

Because you love me so

Resting in

Your constant love

Daily you

Send from above

All my praise

Is not enough

To show I love you so

Life Takes It’s Turns

I’ve always loved good music
It causes my heart to dance
There’s always a joy when I’m singing
To a song that I find by chance

We used to listen to records
Forty-five RPM was the speed
Those singles would jump on the turnstile
And we’d all start dancing with ease

Then 8 track and CD and DVD came
The records still there, but now small
And I listen to much different music
That lifts up a praise to the Lord.

Life changes fast in this world of ours
There’s little that remaiins the same
The only exception is Jesus
His truth and love will never change

If you need some come assurance
That will always be there for you
Just call on the name of Jesus
His record is always true.

Completely Whole

I hear His midnight call to me
In His quiet gentle voice
Saying do not doubt these words of mine
Will cause you to rejoice

Healing will soon come to you
It’s slow but very sure
You’ll see improvement every day
Until you know your cured

There’s nothing that will keep you back
From this reality
I paid the price for healing
On the cross that fateful day

So walk in faith and lift your praise
And you will be made whole
Remember ten who I had touched
Just one gave thanks it’s told

And that one walked away brand new
No pain or scars remained
The other nine still bore their scars
From thanks they did refrain

But you my son have lifted praise
And thanks to me each day
So you will be completely whole
For you did trust my grace

With that His words were finished
And I broke down and wept
Tears of joy rolled down my cheeks
His praise I’d always kept

I knew He had the best for me
Of this there was no doubt
That is why in all our trials
It’s time to sing and shout

Sing His praise and shout with thanks
When hard imes hit your life
Sing hosanna worship Him
His healing comes in time

He hears your prayers and all your needs
He keeps His promises
Be the one who brings back thanks
Healing was soon his

Life Anew

I could hear the echo softly
As I went to see old friends
Their quiet murmuration
Came so quickly without end

A change had taken place in me
That made them stop and pause
They saw a new man standing there
And wondered ’bout the cause

I told  them I’d been born again
Asked Jesus in my heart
I put away my dark old life
He gave me a new start

Now that they had seen it
They had to know it’s true
And thus began my journey
To start my life anew

Escape The Rat Race

There’s a pattern this world likes to follow
Of hustle and bustle and fame
Go after riches and fortune
Live life and never be tame

I use a pattern that’s different
That seeks peace and joy, love and hope
Following Jesus is simpler
Then the pattern that makes this world cope

Why not step out and come with me
Escape the rat race as they say
Come to the Savior, He’s waiting
To change your life’s pattern today

Come To The Real Deal

When you think about freedom or morality
You have to think abstractly at best
For these things are subjective it matters who you ask
One person things much different  than the rest

Many think that God is at the top of abstract thought
His existence they aren’t sure is real
But I surely tell you that He is more alive
More than sun or wind or rain or stars reveal

You see I know these things because He changed my life
From someone who was rough and full of wrong
He gave me purpose in my life and filled my heart with love
His presence is with in me all day long

So if you need something to keep you from an abstract life
I have the answer you are looking for
Just ask my Jesus to come in and take away your sin
And take away your sin forevermore

Grace Is Everyting

He is here very near
Guiding me each day
Helping me to overcome
Trials on the way
He is watching eyes on me
Keeping me from harm
Seeing that I have His love
In His outstretched arms
Jesus my dear Savior
What a friend To Me
Always there
Always cares
Filling all my needs
Jesus precious Jesus
My redeemer King
Watching me
Hearing me
Grace in everything
He is hearing ears on me
Every single prayer
What a comfort I can feel
Knowing that He hears
He will answer in His time
His word has promised me
I will never doubt His love
What He wants will be
Holding me hearing me
Loving me watching me
Guiding me cares for me
Grace in everything
Jesus my dear Savior
What a friend To Me
Always there
Always cares
Filling all my needs
Jesus precious Jesus
My redeemer King
Watching me
Hearing me
Grace in everything

Tell It Like It Is

Some people trust in stars
To come and tell their fate
Others use a horoscope
I see if they should date

To others it’s a Ouija board
And others use a seance
I’ll just take God at His word
In Him there is no nuance

He always tells it like it is
The truth is always clear
You’ll be much better off each day
If His words you will hear

Meant For God

Note to reader:  This is a very different type poem for me, but it is how I received it yesterday as I was taking my chemo infusion, watching the squirrels at the bird feeder.  It is in free verse.  The first two stanzas have 7 lines, the next two 6 lines, the next two five and so on.  I would appreciate any comments you might have.

Watching a squirrel
Dangling
By his toes
Barely holding on
Trusting his grip
On the wire
Holding the bird feeder

Eating the seeds
Meant for the birds
Not for him
He doesn’t care
Whose food it us
It’s his
Today

Reminds me
Of the thief
Who comes
To steal
Steal our lives
Not meant for him

Meant for God
Our creator
Our provider
Our protector
Our deliverer
Our Savior

We open the door
To the enemy
Allow him in
Unwittingly

Open the door
To God
Let Him in
Willingly

The enemy
Will steal
God’s blessings

God
Will restore
What the enemy steals

Resist
The enemy

Run
To God

Be

Blessed
