Avoiding The Fire

I have to admit, I’m a sinner

I’ll never be perfect down here

Try hard as I can

I never will stand

As a sinless man, that’s for sure

But I made a choice long ago

To avoid being scorched for all time

I asked Jesus in

And He covered my sin

Now heavens my home for all time

I am sure that you don’t intend

To burn in hell when your life ends

Why not ask Him today

To take your sins away

And you can have peace in the end

In  response to the daily prompt Scorched

Is It True About You?

Yes, in my youth I was vulgar

Ostentatious and loud

My life was a blur

Of drugs, booze and girls

And my words would make no one proud

But then I met Jesus, the Savior

And I asked Him into my heart

He set me free

From sins dread disease

And He gave me a brand new start

Now I sing praise to Him daily

My words are uplifting and true

I’m sober at last

And my wife is a blast

I sure hope this is true about you!

In response to th daily prompt Ostentatious

Yep, He Was Real

We’ve all heard stories from long ago

About people and creatures that just weren’t so

These made up tales

Were told to regale

And through time some believed what they told

But to say that Jesus was mythical

Is truly quite unethical

There’s plenty of proof

To make it a truth

That Jesus was real and methodical

He came to this earth as a sacrifice

And He lived to offer up His life

His blood set us free

From sins dread diisease

And He rose to give life for all time

In response to the daily prompt Mythical

No Filter Now!

I’ve always enjoyed a cup of coffee

When I rise up in the morn

It used to be I would percolate it

But now Mr Coffee’s the norm

I used to percolate things of God

I’d filter out what I opposed

That left me wondering if God was real

Or if he was just a big hoax

But then I met Jesus one fateful day

And my whole attitude was changed

Now I take in the whole word of God

And I’ll never be the same

In response to the daily prompt Percolate

I Was A Righteous Dude!

I used to be called righteous

Because I was really cool

I was oft called a righteous dude

As I walked through my school

But then I learned my righteousness

Was filthy rags so gross

So I gave my life to Jesus

And He washed me white as snow

Now I walk each day with Jesus

He calls me His son

And He gives me His righteousness

I’m so glad I  found His love

A New Catch

When I was a kid, the water

Was one place I liked to play

Catching bullfrogs, skippping rocks

Was how we spect our day

And one more thing consumed our time

And sent us ’round the town

The thirll of catching one big fish

That I could call my own.

Iit wasn’t easy work too do

Those fish would fight real hard

To be quite honest, I was not

A fishermann at heart..

So fishing is a memory

That I don’t live today

The thought of stannding, waiting

Just doesn’t make my day.

However there’s anothe kind

Of fishing that I know

This kind is something I  can do

Wherever I might go

Jesus came to save me

And to set me free indeed

But He alos had a plan for me

To help find those in need.

He said I’d be a fisherman

The lost would be the catch

So now I fish ’bout every day

And hope someone to bless

Goal S etting 101

For years I’ve been a salesman

And done quite well indeed

They say that setting lofty goals

Can bring success to me

So I have always set my sights

On goals hard to attain

It makes me work much harder

Until that goal I’ve gained

But lofty goals are on thing

When they reach for worldly gain

I also  need to set my sights

On goals that don’t bring fame

Love my fellow Christian

And even more the lost

Bring joy to all I meet

Leave peace at all costs

Never say an unkind word

Never criticize

Be a friend to all around

Until the day I die

These are goals that I should have

Every single day

So set your sights on lofty things

And be a friend today.

In response to the daily prompt Lofty

Don’t Get Burned

I love to camp in the summer

And cook on the open flames

The food is so delightful

When we cook that way

Once in a while I’ll slip up

And get too close to the fire

I feel the heat on my hand

And I know that’s not my desire

I just can’t imagine the suffering

Of eternity spent in Hell

The heat of those flames unceasing

For all who who missed Christ and fell

So today put your trust in Jesus

And ask Him into your heart

Avoid the flames of that fire

And make a brand new start

In response to the daily prompt Flames

Who’s Your Hero?

Would you rather have a hero

Whose skill was off the charts

He’d wow you with his game

He’d wow you as a star

But this hero only showed up

On this earth, and not near you

And the length of time he lived

Was just about as long as you

OR

Would you rather have a hero

Who died do give you life

And one that would be with you

Until the end of time

He will hear your every prayer

And walk beside you every day

Jesus is the hero

That I choose for all my days

In response to the daily prompt Or

I’m Not Into That!

I’m not really into digital

Or even much on vegetal

They just seem to leave my mind at such a loss

But I am into Jesus Christ my Lord

For He is the one that I adore

He freed me from sin forever at such a cost

For He gave His life at Calvary

To make away for you and me

To share in His soul salvation for all time

So please won’t you ask Him in today

He’ll hear you when you humbly pray

And you will make heaven yours with eternal life
