His Blessings Flow

When it comes to the mercy of my God
I don’t know where to start
He gave His only beloved Son
To purify my heart

When I think of the grace that he bestows
The list grows rather long
Day after day His blessings flow
And to me they belong

And when I think of the patience He and with me
I don’t know where to begin
I was running from Him for oh so long
I’m sure it was running thin

But He loved me then and He loves me know
And He’ll love me forevermore
I can  only lift up my heart and sing
To my precious, wondrous Lord

Royal Pedigree

He cam to a manger, cold and bare
To be born of a lowly virgin there
He grew as a son to a carpenter
Learning the trade and how to work

He taught only what He heard from above
He showed us all of His Father’s love
He served day and night as the people came
He treated them all as they were the same

Then they hailed Him as soon and coming King
They shouted Hosanna His praises they sing
A few days later they had changed their cry
They looked up at Him and cried crucify

They beat Him and mocked Him and laughed Him to scorn
They put on His head a crown of long thorns
They made Him carry His cross down the street
Then they put long sharp spikes in His hands and feet

He gave up His life on the cross that day
He died for us all and the price He did pay
He left heaven’s home to set us free
He put aside His royal pedigree

For God loved us so much He gave us His son
That all who believed in this meek holy one
Would find that their life would now be set free
And they’d live in heaven eternally

No Pretending

I look around at all the people running to and fro
I cannot help but wander where they all will go
For one day soon the clouds will part above
Jesus will return and gather those who He does love

I cannot look and see which ones will go with Him that day
I cannot determine who has followed in His ways
You see there’s only one thing that will qualify us then
Only one slight difference that no one can pretend

We must have Jesus as our Lord and Savior of our lives
We must have seen out wretchedness and asked Him to forgive
We must have turned away from things displeasing in His sight
We must now walk with Him each day and follow in His light

Will you be one to rise and meet Him on that fateful day
Will you avoid the wrath of God that’s coming anyway
If you have not decided yet and given Him your heart
Make today the day that you ask Him to be Lord

Fall of Colors

Forty short years ago I moved to Iowa
Flatland met me with corn grown tall
Storms of summer cold of winter
Harvest time takes over fall

One thing I missed from dear old Mass
Was the woodlands deep and wide
In fall the colors were so bright
That’s when homesick still abides

I came out here to seek the Lord
Best decision I ever made
I could not see the forest for the trees
When it came to life back then

Now life is so much clearer
My purpose is renewed
If you need something more from life
Just look to Christ our Lord

Return to Jesus

i was raised on Jesus
The church a second home
Throughout my high school years
i hardly ever roamed

I then got into crowds
That drew me far away
And i became a rebel
To sin I deeply strayed

But Jesus kept on calling
Throughout those rebel years
Til finally I returned to Him
And shedded many tears

He never will give up on us
He always wants pur hearts
If you have fallen far away
I pray that you’ll restart

Restart your trust in Jesus
He’s always by your side
Restart your trip to heaven
With Him you will abide

The Hard Heart

When I was a teen and into my twenties
I used to think that life was just funny
I’d giggle and smirk at most everything
I’d make fun of people with words that would sting

I had many laughs that echoed and roared
Some were guffaws and some loudly soared
But none of them really came from my heart
I didn’t know joy because my heart was hard

I finally met Jesus and changed all my ways
A quick trip to Iowa to spend a few days
I met a girl who would change everything
Then I was invited to church for to sing

On the way home we sat in the back
It was then that I had my first laughter attack
A laugh that came forth from the joy deep inside
I knew in my heart it was real this time

If you’re missing out on the true joy of life
Then come to the Savior who paid a great price
He offered Himself the supreme sacrifice
So you could have joy and eternal life

Surging Water Thrills

I love the sound of a brook babbling through the trees
It wanders over rocks just like a gentle breeze
A stream flows ever faster more water joining force
As brooks all funnel to it altering it’s course

The streams become a river which is often deep and wide
Then at times a shallow bed shows rocks that used to hide
Now if that shallow river flows much faster down a hill
The rapid movement of that flow makes surging water thrills

This steady flowing river reminds me of my life
The Holy Spirit runs through me like a river wide
When trials come like rocks ahead and thrills are plain to see
His fruit and gifts will rise up strong to always comfort me

Lifestyles

Some people live in the forefront
Their lifestyles are seen and heard
They lead and they teach those who follow
Those who don’t seem to think them absurd

Some people live in the shadows
They are always seen lurking behind
Nobody knows what they’re up to
They hide what’s alive in their minds

Then there are those in a bubble
Who don’t want to know anything
They keep to themselves without learning
Of the way people live and think

If you’re one of those in the bubble
Will you come to know Jesus Christ
You will find that He’s kind and gentle
He will give you eternal life

The Path tbat Turned

I had my days in High school
Where learning came with ease
I aced most of my classes
All classes were a breeze

I started into business
Where things came naturally
Growth came in giant measure
Advancement was for me

But when I came to Jesus
I had so much to learn
His ways were so much different
After my path was turned

I started to grow slowly
A mentor was my need
My pastors came beside me
And helped me to succeed

Success was not in money
Or in power, fame or things
Success was found in meekness
Humility was king

I still have much to learn
About my walk with God
I’m thankful for the mentors
That have helped me all along

Incessantly, Relentlessly

Incessantly they come
Wave upon wave
Pounding
Resounding
With mighty force
Upon the shore

Relentlessly they sound
Crest over crest
Breaking
Splashing
With spray galore
Upon the shore

The tide comes High
Then comes low
Creeping
Flowing
With gains real slow
The oceans flow

Incessantly God’s love
Comes from above
Seeking
Searching
For your heart
He won’t depart

Relentlessly He calls
Come to me
Longing
Hoping
You will pray
To be saved

The tide of His love
Comes every day
Desiring
Inquiring
Will you come
Accept my Son
