Hold Onto Jesus

I’ve got to hold onto Jesus and let go of me
If I want to be all that I can be
There’s a much better life just waiting for me
If I’ll hold onto Jesus and let go of me

My life was tangled and tortured
The sin stains were all in display
I had quite a collection of terrible things
Seems I never could find the right way

I was destined for doom and misfortune
My path seemed to be laid out
In a stupor I headed to church one day
To see what the fuss was about

When I walked in the door they were singing
Their voices were filled with great joy
I sat in the back wondering what to do next
As my head split in two from the noise

When singing was finished the preacher got up
He shouted out Praise the Lord
Then He said is there one who does not know the way
It’s time for you now to come forward

I don’t know what compelled me to rise to my feet
I slowly walked up to the front
The tears started flowing as prayers were uplifted
The pastor then gave me a hug

As he stood there with arms wrapped around me
He said Jesus Loves you my son
Confess all your sins
Give your life up to Him
You’ll never regret when it’s done

I closed my eyes
I bowed my head
I prayed that prayer
My heart leapt from my chest
The peace that came in
And the joy that I felt
I knew something changed
Inside I could tell
I raised up my arms and began to rejoice
Thank you sweet Jesus for saving my soul
The people all lifted their voice in sweet praise
I knew that my life had drastically changed

As I left that old church later on in the day
I made up my mind to not turn away
I’d hold onto new life the old was now gone
I’d hold onto Jesus and sing this new song

I’ve got to hold onto Jesus and let go of me
If I want to be all that I can be
There’s a much better life just waiting for me
If I’ll hold onto Jesus and let go of me

God’s Great Inspiration

I waited for the word today
With great anticipation
This day is full of hope
And God’s great inspiration

Then when the word appeared
A song was in my heart
He fills my soul with singing
His words He does impart

If you want to see these songs
His voice does speak to me
Just read my previous post
And His words you will see

Settled in His Grace

VMy days can get so lonely
When I try to walk alone
But there’s no reason this should be the case
He promised to be with me
Until the very end
I’ll daily set my eyes to see His face

He’s with me in my spirit
I must listen carefully
His voice is calling out most every day
He wants a conversation
He wants my company
He wants to walk with me and guide my way

To be ever in His presence
To be always by His side
This Is what I long for
This is my desire
Walking close beside Him
Step by step each day
Hearing words of hope
Settled in His grace

The sweet sweet love of Jesus
Is always there for me
In good times and in bad He’s always near
By faith I feel His presence
My spirit knows His breath
When I remember this I’ll never fear

To be ever in His presence
To be always by His side
This Is what I long for
This is my desire
Walking close beside Him
Step by step each day
Hearing words of hope
Settled in His grace

Knowing Him
Loving Him
Praising Him
Hearing Him
All I need
He provides
Ever present
In my life

To be ever in His presence
To be always by His side
This Is what I long for
This is my desire
Walking close beside Him
Step by step each day
Hearing words of hope
Settled in His grace

The Right Course

I can run out of gas
I can run out of food
I can run out of time
I can spend like a fool

I can use all my senses
And lose them as well
I can waste this great life
And go straight to hell

But I cannot deplete the love of God
He has so much grace for me
When I think all His lost
He says I paid the cost
His great love has set me free

Lord, help me to lose my own life
So that I can start living yours
Because this life is like a vapor
I want to be on the right course

Sweet Victory

We were not born for heartache
We were not born for pain
We were not born for suffering
We were not born for shame

We were not born for trials
We were not born for doom
We were not born for sorrow
We were born to overcome

Through all our disappointments
Through all of life’s hard tests
There’s someone walking with us
Who always wants our best

Jesus is our Champion
Our mighty victor strong
When He lives within us
We sing His victory song

I’m an overcomer
Through Jesus precious blood
No matter what I’m facing
His mercy is enough

He’ll walk me through the valleys
He’ll guide me day and night
When life is at its darkest
He’ll lead me to the light

I was born for victory
I was born to win
I was born to overcome
This flesh that lives within

I was born for Jesus
As He was born for me
From now on I will walk
In His sweet victory.

Trudging Along?

Many people go through life
Trudging from day to day
They don’t have a spring in their step
They are not quite sure of their way

The thing that there missing is easy
It’s a hope that is steadfast and sure
When we put all our trust in Jesus
That glimmer of hope is assured

In fact it’s no longer a glimmer
But a bright shining light up ahead
When Jesus is Lord and Savior
Then Heaven a bright light instead

So set your mind squarely on Jesus
Let Him be your guiding Light
No longer will life be just trudging
You’ll find it is sunny and bright

Every Time I Praise You

Every time I praise you
Every time I worship
Every time I lift my hands to you
I can feel your presence
Welling up inside me
I just want to lift my song to you

A song of your great mercy
A song of your great love
A song of joy unspeakable and full
A song of grace and passion
A song of peace sublime
A song of Hallelujah
Praise the Lord

Warmer Times

It’s nice that spring is arriving
Warmer times are on the way
I can get out my bike and pedal
Get my exercise in each day

I am counting steps on my smartphone
The GPS tracks every move
But sometimes things disrupt the signal
So the accuracy does not groove

Life can be like that tracking device
Moments come that disrupt the flow
Sometimes those moments are pleasant
And sometimes we wish they’d go

There is one thing I’m sure of
And I hope that you are too
My God controls every moment
I know He’ll take care of you

Words of Love

His name will move all my mountains
His name will heal all my pain
His name will bring strength and courage
His name gives me joy again

His name is my rock and refuge
His name is my fortress strong
His name always brings me mercy
His name fills my soul with songs

To worship Him is what I long for
My heart cries to give Him praise
Hands uplifted toward the throne room
Words of love for Jesus name

His name has removed my sin stains
His name has forgiven me
His name rose to gain the victory
His name spoken sets me free

Oh the mighty name of Jesus
Jesus, Jesus Lord of life
I will sing the name if Jesus
All the day and all the night

To worship Him is what I long for
My heart cries to give Him praise
Hands uplifted toward the throne room
Words of love for Jesus name

Summer Favorite

There’s nothing much that I like more than root beer floats in summer
The ice cream and the drink go hand in hand
I must be careful every time
I make one of these drinks sublime
That froth does not too drastically expand

For there’s no substance in the froth that builds up rather quickly
Then slowly shrinks back down into place
I may enjoy the frothy taste
But soon it all will dissipate
My root beer float will fill its rightful space

This world is full or froth in all the various ideas
Of how eternal life can be attained
One thing I know is true
Jesus must be Lord of you
If hell you will avoid and heaven gain
