Swift Storms

I watch as ships go sailing by
Waves undulate below them
The crew members are calm and sure
The water tends to soothe them

Storm clouds gather in the west
They travel swiftly eastward
The undulation of the waves
Begins to toss them forward

The swiftness of the storm was fierce
And waves capsized their ship
As far as they were out to see
The ship was not equipped

My life can mimic this short tale
The storms can come upon me
My faith can undulate with doubt
That God will come and save me

But if my faith is placed in Christ
He will equip me daily
He’ll calm the sea and give me peace
When trouble comes to me

All of My Days

My life was not always so joyful
Peace has just recently come
I could not find rest
Until I was blessed
By knowing that Jesus had won

Before I knew Him I was lonely
Forlorn in my sinful ways
His mercy found me
His grace set me free
Now I’ll have Him all of my days

Do you know that Jesus loves you
That He died on the cross for your sins
Ask Him today
To take yours away
Then peace and joy will reign within

The Narrow Way

I can’t describe the feeling
Of growing close to God
I started at a distance
The way to him seemed broad

But as I traveled further
I found the narrow way
I found myself grow nearer
To Jesus every day

The closer I grew to him
It seemed less like a tunnel
Because the way got tighter
It felt more like a funnel

The light was there to greet me
When I reached His saving grace
Out I came and ready
My friends and foes to face

The journey trough that funnel
Prepared me for this day
So I can share the gospel
And lead folks in his way

In response to the daily prompt Funnel

Stay Calm

If you want to gain
A sure sense of peace
Then don’t let tomorrow creep in
Today’s all you’ve got
So give that to God
His grace is a timely free gift

He does not give more
Than you need for today
Until the next day has come
So don’t fret or worry
And don’t be distressed
He’ll give what you need to stay calm

In response to the daily prompt Timely

It Moves!

I never before have announced
Something special in one of my rhymes
But today I am breaking tradition
‘Cause I want to announce this on time

I’m pleased to let all of you know
This bad shoulder I’ve had for a year
Has now started to move on it’s own
In response to all who gave prayer

So I thank you with all my heart
For the prayers you have said for me
This cancer will certainly pass
Since we all have the faith to believe

In response to the daily prompt Pleased

Eyes Wide Open

So many people follow
The words of mortal man
No question if it’s truth
They move at their command

It seems they wander blindly
The path laid out for them
By those who could not care less
If they lose or if they win

I’ve made my big decision
My eye’s are open wide
I’m going to follow Jesus
His word will be my guide

No blindness in His message
No question of the truth
The victory lies in His hands
He loves me through and through

In response to the daily prompt Blindly

No Turning Back

No backing off
No strong regrets
No complaints said He
No bitter words
No turning back
His fate was meant to be

Tenacious In His vision
Determined in His quest
He would not be denied the victory
His destiny was death
Yet Forever He would live
As He purchased my salvation
And He set me free.

In response to the daily prompt Tenacious

Your Reward

When Jesus walked
On this old ground
He came across people in need
The word says whoever
Came to Him sick
Would find that His touch would heal

Leprosy, blindness
Lame or disabled
All of them walked away free
Deaf ears and dumb mouth
All the diseases
Just by His touch they would leave

If you need a touch
From Jesus today
Simply trust Him as Savior and Lord
He’ll bring in His spirit
And transform your heart
And healing will be your reward

In response to the daily prompt Heal

Turn Your Heart Strings

For so many years I heard about Christ
And all he had done for me
Raised in the church every Sunday
Yet I slipped away late in my teens

For many years I wandered aimless
In denial of all I had learned
Until a good friend turned my heart strings
I accepted the Savior I’d spurned

Maybe today you deny Him
And all He has done by His grace
Accept Him today as your Savior
And one day you’ll see His face
