One More of Me

Some days I get so busy
With all the words He gives
The Holy Spirit speaks to me
To let me know I’m His

When I seem to lag behind
In my chores around the house
i wish I had a doppleganger
Just to help me out

He could do the needed things
To make my living sweet
While I take time to listen close
And hear the Master speak

It’s then I’ll hear Him whisper
These little rhymes of mine
Then I will write them down for you
And keep them for all time

Little Mercies

The birds sing above
The stars shine their love
The rain is enough
What mercy

The sun rises slow
Then sets down below
In beauty that shows
What mercy

These are the little mercies that come each day
Mercies we miss all the time
Open your eyes
To God only wise
And see that His mercy does shine

The flowers all bloom
The Veggies look good
The trees wave in tune
What mercy

My breath still arrives
There’s light in my eyes
The sounds are alive
What mercy

These are the little mercies that come each day
Even when trials seems to stay
Open your eyes
To God only wise
And see that He loves you always

His mercy is always around you
His love never goes on break
If we will just open our hearts
He’ll show us His mercy again

Look for the little mercies that come each day
They never cease in your life
Open your eyes
To God only wise
Let His mercy help you survive

Touch Jesus Heart

Today we have a well-spring
Of brand new worship songs
It seems that heaven’s opened
For us to sing along
Our countenance is glad
As we raise our voices high
Our hearts in sheer delight
Our hands raise to the sky

I love this age of worship
I love new worship songs
The Lord is good to give me
Many of my own
Now I may seem quite archaic
When I say the old-time hymns
Still reach deep down inside me
And draw me  close to Him

The Old Rugged Cross
I Surrender All
Victory In Jesus
My soul these songs call

He Hideth My Soul
To God Be The Glory
Great is Thy Faithfulness
All tell His story

Blessed Assurance
Amazing Grace
Usher me in
To see His face

I know you have others
Quite dear to your heart
Let’s sing old and new
And touch Jesus heart

What A Glorious Day

I was out this morning before first light
And remembered when darkness was my plight
Then came the Son and gave me my sight
Oh what a glorious day

The dawn arrived and His beauty shone
The clouds were covered with golden tones
Like the joy and peace once I was atoned
Oh what a glorious day

Oh what a glorious day
When He took my sins away
Heaven became my stay
Oh what a glorious day

Now the day is gone and the sunset nears
The golden sky once again appears
I can hear Him whisper in my ear
Oh what a glorious day

I have walked with you through all your storms
I have kept you strong and have kept you calm
I have held you close in my loving arms
Oh what a glorious day

Oh what a glorious day
When He took my sins away
Heaven became my stay
Oh what a glorious day

Glorious day to walk with my Lord
Glorious day to talk with my Lord
Glorious day to hear from my Lord
Oh what a glorious day

Oh what a glorious day
When He took my sins away
Heaven became my stay
Oh what a glorious day

Ode to God’s Plan for Our Marriage

I’ve been thinking of God’s mercy
And His wondrous love for me
He was with me in my mother’s womb
Forming my head
My hands
My feet
My mind
My heart
Knowing that I would follow Him in my youth
Knowing that I would wander far away
In my teens and early twenties
Knowing that i would repent
And accept the amazing gift of His Son
And eternal life
In my mid-twenties
He formed my would -be wife when I was eight
He nurtured her in her youth knowing one day we would be together
Knowing exactly who she needed to be to deal with me
When I was twenty-six we met and were wed
Forty years later she is still my helpmate
My soulmate
My partner in worship
My everything along with Christ my Lord
What a Savior I have
What an awesome God I Serve
Who would prepare my bride so perfectly
To put up with a mess like me.
I praise Him
For we were both fearfully and wonderfully made
I write songs and hardly play
I do not write music
She plays by ear and can follow my voice
She does not need the music.
How awesome is my God
To prepare our way before us
For the ministry He has given each of us
What grace
What mercy
What love
Does my God have for us
I will praise Him
I will worship Him
I will adore Him
All the days of my life.

I Can Be A Ding-Dong

I’m pretty bad about
Trying to figure out
What other’s are thinking about
Usually I am wrong
And it doesn’t take too long
For me to feel like a ding-dong

But that’s what can happen
When we make an assumption
It’s not a wise thing to do
Because all of us know
I don’t have to show
To assume makes a donkey out of you

So never say you know
Where someone will go
Just because there life isn’t like yours
They may know the Savior
And be headed to heaven
But we think they’re bound for hell’s doors

So Majestic

What are we doing on this earth
Spinning around the Sun
Amidst a universe so grand
The stars placed one by one?

Why have we been given this place
Where life’s so beautiful?
What caused the heaven’s to create a place
Where our lives can be so full?

These questions remind me every day
How God gives us His grace
He is so majestic I bow down
And give to Him my praise

My goals in life must disappear
So I can follow Him
I pray He will guide me everyday
By His sweet voice within

Psalmist Musings 1

I will lift my voice to praise my God
I will declare His goodness in all the earth
For He has walked with me through the valley
And held my hand in the pit of destruction
Great is His love for me
When I was in my deepest trial
He comforted me with His words
His voice spoke softly in my ears
I will continually lift my worship to Him
For His mercy endures forever
He will not fail me
Nor will He let me fail
But He will bring me through the storm
Through the wind and the rains
The torrential rains and fierce lightning
Through it all I will exalt Him
And He will quide me safely
For His love for me never fails
And His grace lifts me up.

Through Endless Obstacles

Softly
Quietly
Through the ancient forest
Tall and majestic trees
Reaching to the sky
Raining leaves in a drizzle
To the ragged ground below
Some fall into the brook
Babbling
Rolling
Over small rocks
Through tiny culverts
Unceasingly advancing
Through endless obstacles
Nothing stops it
The brook continues on
Softly
Quietly
Like that brook
Which murmurs as it flows
The voice of God speaks
Speaks to ears that will listen
Ears that are open
Hearts that are attentive
Waiting in anticipation
It comes amid this loud world
Thoughts fill our minds
Fleshly thoughts
Godless thoughts
Trying to block out His voice
Persistent
Ever present
His voice speaks
He’s always there
Watching
Waiting
Speaking
Like that brook
Trying to find you
Find your ears
Find your heart
Through endless obstacles
Nothing stops it
Except our inability to listen
His voice continues on

Others More than Self

We see it way to often in this cold world of ours
A person has more interest in himself than others
His life is filled with doubt and chronic pessimism
And no one can look past his blatant narcissism

I was once that man who regarded only me
But then God came along and dropped me to my knees
He said to love the other more than myself alone
Just like I have sent my son for your sins to atone

I gave my heart to Him that day and now He is my Lord
I do my best to walk each day according to His word
He leads me to give more respect to others than myself
The golden rule alive and well is how I choose to dwell
