You’ll Find Him Near

I was walking down the street
In Bethlehem one day
There were crowds of people all around
And I found no place to stay
I walked a little further
To find a place to lay
And what did I discover
But a baby in some hay

The mother was so happy
The father was in awe
Then shepherds came and worshiped
And I just sat and thought
Who is this little child
That Shepherds came and saw
I asked them why they came
And their story hit me hard

They said they saw an Angel
And He said they should not fear
That a child had  been born
The Messian had appeared
And then a band of Angels
They sang  be of good cheer
Go and greet the child
You will find Him really near

When I heard their story
I bowed my head ad prayed
If this is the Messiah
I had to change my ways
I knew that  He was coming soon
And He will come to save
So I prayed for Him to touch me
When He grew in power and grace

He’s coming back again my  friend
And it could be any day
If you have not accepted Him
Be sure your not too late
Ask Him in your heart today
A simple prayer’s the only way
And He will wash your sins away
Be born again  today

High Gear

Christmas day is coming soon
Enthusiasm fills the room
Anticipation’s high this time of year
Presents all around
Food will soon abound
The celebration soon will hit high gear

Don’t forget to take a minute
To allow God to be in it
After all this is the birthday of His Son
Thank Him for the gift He’s given
That can take us all to heaven
Take the time to thank the Lord for what He’s done

Eternally There

In my youth I spent all of my money
On drugs and booze and a party
I  wasn’t concerned
With how much I earned
I spent all my fortune on me

But as I got older and wiser
And I gave my life to the Savior
My fortune was placed
Behind heaven’s gates
And now it’s eternally there

You can save all you want while down here
But it sooon will be gone unaware
Would you rather have wealth
That will end at your death
Or a eternal treasure up there

Hurried Life

Gift shopping
Food shopping
Buying decorations
Gift wrapping
Food cooking
Cleaning for relations

Busy. busy, busy
Hustle and a-bustle
Bet you cannot wait to relax
Body needs a breather
Mind could use one too
I’ll be glad when holidays are past

Deep down in my spirit
I am still at rest
The  Holy Spirit fills me with peace
And joy just bubbles over
To make me feel so calm
Even when I’m running this race

If you need some rest now
Just ask the Lord to help you
He will hear your prayer right on time
He’ll give you peace and joy
That will calm your hurried life
I’m so glad that I can call Him mine

Every Day

There are days I’m doing fine

Only good things on my mind

I can sing my praise to God with all my heart

But other days I’m moody

And I think that I’m nobody

It’s much harder for my praise of God to start

But then I think about the blessings

He does give, He’s never missing

Every day as long as I have been alive

Things like water, air and wind

All have come straight down from Him

He has given  all I need to I’ll survive

And when I think of that

I just have to tip my hat

And lift my praises high into the sky

For I owe my life to Him

And He promised I would win

I will keep on praising ’til the day  die

A Change In the Catch

There once was a normal fisherman

Who went out to fish every day

One day he caught none

And He was real bummed

So he came back tom shore in dismay

Now Jesus just happened to be there

And He said take me fishing with you

They filled up the net

Without breaking a sweat

And our fisherman felt quite subdued

Jesus said follow me Mr fisherman

I’ll make you a fisher of men

He decided to go

So he left his good boat

And Peter learned fishing for men

A Different Scene

I can’t say i’m surprised

At all the time that’s spent

Preparing for what Christmas Day will bring

Gifts are bought galore

And food set for a feast

To those who do the work it’s maddening

What truly baffles me

Is the beginning this day had

And how different was the scene way back hen

A quiet manger bed

With some shepherds drawing near

No feast, few gifts gave way to praise of men

This Christmas take a moment

Of quiet contemplation

And leave the hustle bustle of this world

Lift up your voice in praise

Have a quiet time to think

That today we celebrate our newborn Lord

The Reason

Bells and lights and bows of holly

Certainly can lead to folly

If we take our eyes of why there here

At Christmas time we celebrate

With food and drink and parties late

The reason for the season isn’t clear

So lets review the story

How Jesus came from glory

To become a sacrifice for all our sin

This baby in the manger

Saved  me from timeless danger

And gave me peace and joy within

So in this Christmas season

Let’s not forget the reason

We celebrate December 25th

It’s not for winter folly

Or a fat man who is jolly

But a Savior in a manger at His birth

Freedom Within

My Mom had taught Jesus to me

In the church since I was just three

But as I grew old

I got kind of bold

He became a condunrum to me

But then in a moment I found

That Jesus was my solid ground

He died for my sin

Gave me freedom within

The conundrum is no longer sound

Avoid Angry Bees

If I saw a fire approaching me

Or a sand storm with dust the eye could see

Or even a swarm of angry bees

I’d flee

If a lion was running toward me

Or a tornado that I could see

Or another swarm of angry bees

I’d flee

So how is it then that I don’t see

The danger that sin does have in me

If I knew the fate that awaited me

I’d flee

I’d flee to the Savior who died for me

Gave His life so I’d be free

Then gave me life Eternally

Jesus Christ, my Lord
