It Doesn’t Matter

Will the new year bring a healing
To my feet and shoulder too
It doesn’t matter, Lord
Because I will still praise you

Will the new year bring a blessing
To these finances of ours
It doesn’t matter, Lord
I’ll still praise you every hour

Will I start to work again
And have good response from all
It doesn’t matter, Lord
I will answer when you call

My heart is set to worship you
And lift your holy name
No matter what I may go through
I’ll always lift your praise
And when the storm clouds gather
And my life is rearranged
I’ll lift my voice to heaven
And magnify your name

Will all my strength come back to me
So I can golf again
It’s doesn’t matter, Lord
I’ll praise your mighty name

Should this cancer not quite go away
And further treatment come
It doesn’t matter, Lord
I’ll still proclaim your love

Now, folks, don’t get me wrong
I’m believing God for all
For healing and deliverance
For financial windfall
For cancer to be gone
And me back to standing tall
There’s no doubt in my mind
That He will do it all

But my praise is not based
On what He does for me
My praise goes to Jesus
He is all I need
He is the King of Kings
And I can plainly see
That He deserves my praise
No matter what might be

I will worship Jesus
Until my dying breath
He’s my Lord forever
My songs will never end
His name is just so powerful
His mercy is so great
I’ll lift my hands and praise Him
For His amazing Grace

Trouble Within

I won’t cry
‘Cause I know why
Some people just can’t win

And I can’t cope
With those that mope
Due to trouble deep  within

If they’d just cry
To the one who died
To take away their sin

Then they could cope
And have new hope
A new life they’d begin.

More Time

This year has past
A new is upon us
What will it bring
Good things, I trust

More time with God
Giving Him praises
Lifting my heart
Accepting His graces

More time in prayer
Lifting my neighbors
Hoping to see
Them come the Father

More time to love
Those who are hurting
Giving them hope
That their hurt is fleeing

More time to seek
His wisdom and passion
That I might proclaim
His words to the nation

More time to praise
My wonderful Savior
Lifting my voice
To worship my Lord

Yes, this year will bring
A new fire within me
To honor the name
Of Jesus my Lord

2016 – What A Year

Whew –  I made it.  All the way through 2016 and getting better every day.  This has been a year I will never forget.  We all have some years that rise above all the others as far as the memories they will invoke down the road.  For me, those years are 1958 – the year my Dad left and I met my still best friend: 1963 – JFK assassinated : 1970 – Graduated High School: 1976 – accepted Jesus Christ as my Savior: 1978 – Moved to Iowa and got married:1986 Moved to Belmond, Iowa: 1987 Started my career in sales: 2016 – Got cancer.

Yup that’s right.  I was diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma cancer in March of 2016 and am currently on the comeback trail.  It was found after I had been in the hospital with pneumonia twice in 3 months (December 2015 and February 2016).  On a hunch, my doctor did a CT scan, and found the bone lesions  A bone marrow biopsy sealed the deal and we headed to the University of Iowa Hospital for treatment.  Two stem cell transplants later,  I am in remission but still having chemo treatments every other week to knock off the dormant cells as they come back to life.  I’m going to beat this thing by the power of Almighty God!

But something amazing happened on the way.  I had started to blog some of my poems on WordPress back in 2014, but never got real serious about it, and was very sporadic.  During my treatments, I started picking up the blogging again, and I got involved in this wonderful community.  What you have given me is the support, encouragement and friendship I need.  You make this battle against cancer easier, and I thank you for that.

As I have gotten more involved, I have also started three blogs (since I had no idea how to do pages).  The first is this one – my poems.  All given by the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, they lift up the Lord every day, as that is my passion.  I have been writing poems for the past 6 years almost daily, so this was a perfect forum for that.  The second blog has turned into a study in the Psalms, which has really been a God send to me in this time.  I also post reflections on life on this blog from time to time.  The third blog was a study in Philippians, and will start in Ephesians January 1.

Posting daily on these three sites became a wonderful way to train my energy on something positive and uplifting during my bout with cancer and now during recovery.  Being cooped up at home can take its toll mentally, and these blogs have kept my mind, and my spiritual life alive.  And your comments and likes have been so encouraging through all this.  What a blessing!

Today, I am going to give you links to some of the “Best of” from all three of these blogs.  This is based on the number of views these postings received.  I found it interesting that a lot of the poems that were written for the Daily Prompt were the highest viewed.  Thank you WordPress staff for giving us that vehicle to draw people to our blogs.

This is my primary site.  I love to write poetry and God inspires something in me every day it seems.  I have reached 5,000 views and have over 150 followers.  This site is also a mimic of my Facebook page, which can be found at https://www.facebook.com/PsalmistPeteGardner/,  There, I have over 3,000 likes.  It is a blessing to me to be able to share these gifts with so many people.

This site contains personal posts ,some music posts, and is currently where I am doing a study through the Psalms, which has been fascinating.  This site has been gaining ground steadily thanks to your support and will probably hit 1,000 likes by the time I post this.  I am having fun with the personal posts, and learning a lot through the study.  I actually started this blog back in 2013 to blog about our camping experiences, so some of that is still there.

My third  blog site was a study through Philippians ad it never really got going well.  I had a few followers, but they trickled off and left.  I did not do this well at first, and changed he way I was organizing this blog,  and the content improved greatly toward the end.  So I am going to keep this blog going and rename it Travelling with Paul.  The study will be through the epistles of Paul, and I will start next with Ephesians, hopefully after Jan 1.  This blog can be found at https://psalmistministries.wordpress.com

I have also had he opportunity to do some guest blogging at BooknVolume, and thank Morgan for opening up that platform for me.  Top posts on that blog were:

Self-glory

Excellent!

beholdinghimministries's avatarBeholding Him Ministries

john-8-54On December 22, we blogged “A voice of one calling” in which God encouraged us to be His voice in this dark world during this CHRISTmas season.

The Lord inspired Pete to comment, “Oh. that we could all be more like John. Not only as one who calls in the wilderness of this culture today, but as one who will say I must decrease and He must increase!Lord Jesus, help me to witness this CHRISTmas!”

Pete’s comment came to my mind and heart as I was reading my Bible study Scriptures and notes this morning. John 8:54a, Jesus replied,“If I glorify myself, my glory means nothing (John 8:54).”
Since this was true for Jesus, how much more so for man!?! The Lord knows man’s struggle with self-glory and I praise Him for giving us such an example as John the Baptist. We see this example in…

Meaningless Things

I used to get Sports Illustrated
And Consumer News
Readers Digest was a favorite
And every year renewal
Was done through PCH
Hoping that my number came our right

But all those things were meaningless
When it came to life and death
I needed so much more to be content
Then one day I found Jesus
And renewal for my soul
Now my life has meaning once again

Wondrous Love

Days roll into nights
Nights roll into days
When I think of God
I’m constantly amazed
At the love that He has for me

Abundant stars at night
One star rules the day
hen I come to God
I give Him all my praise
For the grace that He shows to me

I will sing I will sing
Of His wondrous love
And the mercy and grace
That He shows to us
I will lift up my praise
All of my days
I will sing of His wondrous love

Time and time again
I hear the melody
When I come to God
I cannot help but weep
As His presence sweeps over me

When the day is done
And the sun is getting low
Then I come to God
His mercy overflows
As I lift my voice in praise

His beauty is sweet
He’s holy and just
His power is great
His wisdom is vast
His mercy unending
His grace evermore
His love knows no limits
It’s Him we adore

I will sing I will sing
Of His wondrous love
And the mercy and grace
That He shows to us
I will lift up my praise
All of my days
I will sing of His wondrous love

We Win!

The stage was set just perfect
For Satan and his crew
Jesus they were going to crucify
Satan thought he’d pillage
Peace and joy and hope
From all who thought this Jesus brought them life

He used the guards to thrash Christ
Then they nailed Him to that tree
He died and then was burred in the tomb
Satan danced in victory
He thought the battle won
The Son of God was dead, and not too soon
Suddenly Christ then appeared
And took the keys of hell
Satan’s power was pillaged from within
Jesus Christ defeated death
He lives forevermore
He made the way for all of us to win

The Vision

Soaring

High above the earth

I’m soaring

Flying through the clouds

I’m soaring

Looking down at earth below

Hoping

By faith I ask the Lord

I’m hoping

That we can make a change

I’m hoping

Love will conquer all our fears

And then I see a fountain

A fountain filled with joy

Springing up all over

From within the saints of God

And then I see a river

A river filled with peace

Flowing ‘cross the landscape

Centered where the joy had been

They flowed into an ocean

An ocean labeled love

Eventually this ocean

Touched the nations all around

Wond’ring

Could this really be

I’m wond’ring

If the saints of God can yield

I’m wond’ring

If the vision I have seen can come

Hearing

The voice of God declare

I’m hearing

My son this can come true

I’m hearing

When all my children heed my word

I drop down on my knees

And ask forgiveness now

He shows me His great mercy

And bids me go and tell

The vision that I’ve seen

Can be both here and now

If only we will share our love

With everyone around

Soaring

All throughout the land

I’m soaring

Praising God’s great love

I’m soaring

Knowing that the world can change

Hoping

The saints will hear the call

I’m hoping

And release the love of God

I’m hoping

To see this vision come to life

King Forever

It’s time to rise up on our feet
And sing the vist’ry song
Christ Jesus is the Lord of all
He makes us battle strong

Let’s give a loud ovation
And shout our words of praise
He is King forever
His worship we do raise

Hallelujah, Chris is King
Seated on the throne
Bless His holy, matchelss name
Now and evermore
