Bless His Mighty Name

This past year has been good to me
My faith has been revived
I’ve traveled through a valley
And am blessed to be alive

The Lord has answered many prayers
His mercy has been sweet
I cannot give Him praise enough
For all He’s done for me

Bless His name, His mighty name
Mercy flows from His throne
Giving life to His own
Bless His name, His wondrous name
The name of Jesus Christ my Lord

A new year starts a few days hence
My heart can hardly wait
I see ahead a brighter day
When I bow down to pray

He tells me healing will prevail
In all my flesh and bone
He tells me to have faith in Him
I’ll never walk alone

He tells me write the words you hear
And over them to pray
He tells me His poems touch the hearts
Of readers, every day

Bless His name, His mighty name
Mercy flows from His throne
Giving life to His own
Bless His name, His wondrous name
The name of Jesus Christ my Lord

So I will lift my voice and sing
To Jesus Christ my Lord
His praise will be my life and love
I’ll worship and adore
And praise forevermore
To Him my heart longs for
Jesus Christ my Lord

Bless His name, His mighty name
Mercy flows from His throne
Giving life to His own
Bless His name, His wondrous name
The name of Jesus Christ my Lord

Dealing With Race In America

An real honest look at a very difficult subject.

I am going to delve into another sensitive area in this blog post.  I grew up hearing from black people that we don’t have the ability to discriminate.  This may come as a shock to every other race on the planet.  In order to explain this unique perspective on the issue, allow me to define the word discriminate.

First, the dictionary defines discrimination as: “the unjust or prejudicial treatment of different categories of people or things, especially on the grounds of race, age, or sex.” That definition pretty much says it all.  It would appear to be all inclusive.  However, living life as an African American I ran across an interesting time and space anomaly.  I was told that African Americans cannot discriminate, we really can’t be racists.  Yes, you read that right.  If you want to understand the heart of so many misunderstandings, you need to understand this concept.

The Day After

The day has quickly past
The gifts are all unwrapped
The wrappings have been swiftly thrown away
The Christmas feast is done
Guests have all gone home
Now you rest from such a busy day

Your mind goes drifting back
To the year that has just past
You write down all the wonderful events
Then you start to plan
For the year that is at hand
Hoping to achieve the very best

You start to make a list
Of thinks that you would wish
Would come true in the coming year
Perhaps this year would be
A good year to agree
A closer walk with God would be so dear

Take more time to pray
Read the word each day
Listen for the sound of His sweet voice
Help those who have needs
Be a friend indeed
Always strive to make the righteous choice

Tell God all your fears
Let Him dry your tears
He will fill your heart with His sweet peace
Bring your needs to Him
And you will always win
All your doubts and worry He’ll release

With these resolutions
We know that the conclusion
Will open up a year that’s full of life
So please take time to pray
That you would find a way
To have a closer walk with Jesus Christ

Christmas is but once a year
A very special time
When families get together
And celebrate His life

To most the day is festive
To some it’s just digestive
The food is  all they came for
They just don’t know our Savior

Let love flow from you freely
As we celebrate with cheer
May you have a Merry Christmas
And a Happy New Year

Merry Christmas To All

Merry Christmas to all

Of my new friends online

Where I really enjoy

Spending lots of my time

In this new WordPress world

Where you all are so kind

And welcome me into your hearts

Your writings have blessed me

In so many ways

And I’ve learned so much

From your comments each day

As I get back my health

I can honestly say

This habit helps carry me through

May your Christmas be filled

With joy unabated

And peace that flows out

To all those related

May love fill your house

Until all have decided

To make Jesus the Lord of their lives

Joseph and Mary’s Prayer

A little babe lay sleeping
In a stable filled with hay
His mom and dad were watching
For they knew this was His day

They knew He brought God’s bounty
For salvation to all men
And as He rested quietly
They prayed and bowed their heads

Saying thank you Lord for trusting us
With the gift of your own Son
Please give us wisdom daily
To raise Him as you’d want

And when He’s grown and ready
To fulfill His earthly call
Help us give Him back to you, Lord
That He can do your all

And the bounty that He brings us
Is His mercy and His grace
And the love that He bestows on us
As we lift our hearts in praise

A Christmas Prayer

The day is finally here
A day of mirth and good cheer
We’ve waited this long
And sung all the songs
That deck the halls this year

The Christmas tree shines so bright
And the houses are covered with lights
The presents are many
The foods getting ready
And soon we’ll all wake from the night

The children flock to the tree
And open their presents with glee
Paper flies everywhere
Parents laugh without a care
They just hope the children are pleased

Once all the presents are open
It’s time for the feast to begin
We sit at the table
And all who are able
Take turns as we start to dig in

Then a gentle hand says wait
Let’s take a minute to pray
So they all bow their heads
As these words are said
To give God the thanks for this day

Oh, the joy of Christmas
Glad tidings we all sing
Blessed Hallelujahs
To the King of Kings
Glory in the highest
Emmanuel is here
Let’s not forget the reason
For this special time of year

Because God sent His son
In a manger bed He lay
Such a simple start
Yet we celebrate this day
Because that little babe
Gave His life our debt to pay
And now we’re born again
If we follow in His way

There’s a hush that fills the room
As a little child says
I want to follow Him
Will you show me the way?
And right there at the table
Before the meal begins
We pray the sinner’s prayer
And that child has entered in

Oh, the joy of Christmas
Glad tidings we all sing
Blessed Hallelujahs
To the King of Kings
Glory in the highest
Emmanuel is here
Let’s not forget the reason
For this special time of year

On This CHRISTmas Morn ~ A Re-Post ~

Wonderful words by Deborah Ann

Deborah Ann Belka's avatarCHRISTian poetry ~ by deborah ann

A promise to the world,
a child to be given
so many years foretold
so all could be forgiven.

Moonless night shining,
with the Morning Star
calling watchful shepherds
to come from afar.

Wise Men carry gifts,
meant for only a King
angels up in heaven
Glory ~ Glory ~ sing.

God became a man,
the Good News is born
begotten Son arrives
on this Christmas morn.

Our mighty God concedes,
to the wickedness of man
the Prince of Peace comes
to bridge the empty span.

Wonderful is His name,
Counselor to the meek
the Son was born of flesh
to give power to the weak.

Our everlasting Father,
knows our fallen state
so He sent His only Son
to save us from our fate.

A promise to the world,
our Lord and Savior is born
sing ~ Praises to His Glory ~
on this Christmas morn!

You’ll Find Him Near

I was walking down the street
In Bethlehem one day
There were crowds of people all around
And I found no place to stay
I walked a little further
To find a place to lay
And what did I discover
But a baby in some hay

The mother was so happy
The father was in awe
Then shepherds came and worshiped
And I just sat and thought
Who is this little child
That Shepherds came and saw
I asked them why they came
And their story hit me hard

They said they saw an Angel
And He said they should not fear
That a child had  been born
The Messian had appeared
And then a band of Angels
They sang  be of good cheer
Go and greet the child
You will find Him really near

When I heard their story
I bowed my head ad prayed
If this is the Messiah
I had to change my ways
I knew that  He was coming soon
And He will come to save
So I prayed for Him to touch me
When He grew in power and grace

He’s coming back again my  friend
And it could be any day
If you have not accepted Him
Be sure your not too late
Ask Him in your heart today
A simple prayer’s the only way
And He will wash your sins away
Be born again  today
