Repurposed

Long ago I had been trained by this world
My life was all out of sorts
I’d drifted and wandered so far off course
I’d fallen to my last resort

Back to the safety of God’s loving arms
Back to the peace He bestows
Back to the joy only He can give me
Back to a life filled with hope

He sought me out when I was so lost
He kept a vigil for me
When I finally stopped and turned around
His precious smile I did see

Now it is Jesus who fashions my life
He has repurposed me
I am His workmanship so all can see
His wonderful love for me

Loops, Groups or Cute?

I remember when my kids were young
As they drew they would stick out their tongue
It would waggle and squirm
As the each took a turn
To drag different colors along

One of them scribbled in groups
Another just made little loops
The third one would move
The pencils so smooth
They’d meander so it looked cute

Our lives can are much the same
In groups or in loops or quite tame
But with Jesus along
My heart sings a song
I’ll never meander again

A Better Way

I’d been a mess most of my life
From high school on I caused much strife
My mouth was harsh with nasty words
My actions full of devilish works

I ran into a childhood friend
Who told that my life could mend
He said that Jesus loved me so
I doubted all the words he spoke

I went to visit him one day
Convinced there was a better way
I bowed my head and softly prayed
Then suddenly by life was changed

If you are headed down a road
That seems to leave you with a load
Cast all your cares on Christ today
He’ll  show you that better way.

Softly Prayed

I came before the Lord today
Bowed my head and softly prayed
That this day He would make a way
For all those who are lost

I brought the sick before His throne
Asked my Lord to make them whole
That they’d make Him their very own
Because He paid the cost

I brought the troubled do His feet
Requested that he give them peace
That this night they would get some sleep
While resting in His grace

The doubters were the next in line
I asked that each would take some time
To watch the stars and see them shine
Your glory they will face

I brought the lame and maimed and poor
All those whom I have prayed before
Please show them you are still their Lord
And heal them every one

I brought my church that we would know
That you are working way below
We just need to walk real slow
So we can see your plan

Even though our eyes can’t see
What you are doing inside each
One day we’ll see your majesty
We’ll grow throughout the land

I finished up my prayer at last
Then realized much time had passed
I know you will answer fast
Because you love us so

Things We Shunned

Give a little
Take a little
That’s the world today
Wrong is right
Right is wrong
You must all now obey

The problem is
The things we give
Are lifestyles from the past
Replacing them
With things we shunned
Our moral code has lapsed

When Jesus walked
Upon this earth
He was uncompromising
He told the truth
About God’s love
His word is justifying

The church are those
Who call Him Lord
The live in righteousness
Keep following
The word of God
His moral code is best

Fact Check

We hear speeches every day
Asking us to not be swayed
By someone who finds a way
To make a better life

Solemnly their plans they teach
Hoping we will hear their speech
Promising the best for each
End to all our strife

The next day people start to doubt
Fact checks show what their about
Good ideas are all thrown out
Thinking they are lies

In the end one truth will stand
Above all else throughout the land
Jesus died and rose again
His kingdom never dies

If you seek the truth today
Come to Jesus kneel and pray
He’s the truth the life the way
He will give you life

Close Call

The icy ponds greeted us out in the field
On a cold winter morning one day
My friend and I ventured out onto the ice
Then we got an idea for play

Let’s see how big a hole we can make
By throwing these rocks where it’s thawed
One by one we threw stones at the water that showed
It’s resistance held us in great awe

I finally decided to grab a big rock
I walked out to break up a chunk
But under me was a soft spot I’d say
And into the water I sunk

My friend looked in panic as I went down twice
Then he grabbed a big tree by the pond
He laid on the ice and stretched out the branch
I grabbed it the third time down

He pulled me out by that branch that day
There’s no doubt he saved my life
We hurried on back through the field to his house
Where we warmed ourselves huddled inside

Through sixty years we two are still friends
We still fondly remember that day
Later on He led me to Jesus my Lord
What a friend He has been all the way

NOTE”  This is a true story!

His Mercy Covers

His mercy covers all my sin
His mercy covers all my sin
When He gave His life for me
From my shame He set me free
His mercy covers all my sin

His mercy covers all my doubt
His mercy covers all my doubt
As I look to Him in faith
He will answer when I pray
His mercy covers all my doubt

His mercy covers all my fear
His mercy covers all my fear
He will fill me with His love
As I look to God above
His mercy covers all my fear

His mercy covers all the earth
His mercy covers all the earth
As I lift my voice in praise
I will worship His sweet name
His mercy covers all the earth

Sweet Grace

Awake to the dawn of the sun as it rises
A new day He’s given to lift up His praise
A walk toward the sunset to see the bright colors
That glorify God in our life everyday

These are the typical ways that we see Him
All in the splendor that He gifts us with
These are the times that we lift our praises
For He has given to us such great gifts

Yet even even in sorrow our hearts should still praise Him
Even in doubt we should bow at His throne
For God is still there always walking beside us
In good times and bad, we are never alone

Don’t wait for good times and hold in your worship
Don’t wait until you think all is in place
God always loves you no matter your trail
He will come cover you with His sweet grace
