Time for a Haircut?

I used to go to barbershops
I’d have them cut my hair
These days my wife is chosen
To give me my hair care

I must admit in all those years
Of barbering in shops
I never saw a quartet
Singing as they chopped

I love to sing with gusto
With a quartet of my own
Father, Son and Holy Ghost
Join me from their throne

We sing loud Hallelujahs
And praises to the King
He is worthy of my praise
To Him my song I sing

In response to the daily prompt Quartet

Wiggle and Waggle

I remember miniskirts from teenage years gone by
They wiggled and they waggled and my eyes were satisfied
But then came micro skirts
They were always so much worse
Very little was concealed from my eyes so open wide

That lust has long been gone sine I gave my heart away
To my wonderful sweet Jesus who died for me that day
Crucified upon a tree
Now His blood has set me free
My sinful ways are gone and His love is on display

Have Mercy, Lord, On Me

Please take my sorrow and grant me joy
Have mercy, Lord, on me
Please take my worry and grant me hope
Have mercy, Lord, on me
Please take my doubt and grant me faith
Have mercy, Lord, on me
Please take my sickness and grant me health
Have mercy, Lord, on me
Please take my poverty and give my wealth
Have mercy, Lord, on me
Please take my weakness and grant me strength
Have mercy, Lord, on me
Please take my foolishness and grant me wisdom
Have mercy, Lord, on me
Please take my bondage and grant me freedom
Have mercy, Lord, on me
Please take my inability and grant me ability
Have mercy, Lord, on me
Please take my waywardness and grant me guidance
Have mercy, Lord, on me
Please take my sin and grant me justification
Have mercy, Lord, on me
Please take my pride and grant me humility
Have mercy, Lord, on me
Please take my anxiety and grant me patience
Have mercy, Lord, on me
Please take my harshness and grant me gentleness
Have mercy, Lord, on me
Please take my rudeness and grant me goodness
Have mercy, Lord, on me
Please take my gluttony and grant me temperance
Have mercy, Lord, on me
Pleaser take my forwardness and grant me meekness
Have mercy, Lord, on me
Please take my unforgiveness and grant me forgiveness
Have mercy, Lord, on me
Please take my confusion and grant me peace
Have mercy, Lord, on me
Please take my anger and grant me understanding
Have mercy, Lord, on me
Please take my hate and grant me love
Have mercy, Lord, on me

A Better World

Tic-Tock
Tic-Tock
Always moving goes the clock
If it’s charged it never stops
Tic-Tock
Tic-Tock

Time is something we all have
Using it is good nor bad
Time can make us glad or sad
Depending what you do

Today I urge you recognize
If your time inefficient flies
If it does then realize
You have to make a change

Find a way to help someone
Find a way to spread some love
Give a smile as bright as sun
And make a better world

My Heart Belongs to Him

Sometimes I wake up in the night
And I just want to praise Him
He’s done so many wondrous things for me
Perhaps that’s how it was that day
So many years ago
When Jesus came to town for all to see

The people heard of Lazarus
Christ raised him from the dead
They also heard He’d come to town that day
They lined the streets to welcome Him
Palm branches lifted high
They shouted as He passed along the way

Hosanna, Hosanna
Hosanna to the King
We worship and adore you
We wave an offering
We lay our palms before you
We bow down at your feet
Jesus you are welcome here today

The priests and Pharisees
Were not at all impressed
They questioned all this praise for just a man
But Jesus silenced them
These simple words He said
The rocks would praise if quiet they remained

Hosanna, Hosanna
Hosanna to the King
We worship and adore you
We wave an offering
We lay our palms before you
We bow down at your feet
Jesus you are welcome here today

I need to welcome Him
Into my heart today
The stony heart must now be rolled away
He’s coming here for me
My future in His hands
My heart belongs to Him this glorious day

Hosanna, Hosanna
Hosanna to the King
We worship and adore you
We wave an offering
We lay our palms before you
We bow down at your feet
Jesus you are welcome here today

Only a Mask

He is so honest
He is so true
He is so righteous
He’s never blue
He is so loyal
Trustworthy too
He’s just as good as can be

This is a faceless man you see
Trying so hard to make them believe
All of the good things he can be
But all of it’s only a mask

Inside he’s hurting
Inside he’s worn
Inside he’s lusting
Inside he’s torn
Inside he’s wishing
He’d never been born
He’s really not what he seems

I know this guy because He was me
I was the guy who seemed so complete
I was just drifting away to sea
Wondering where I would land

Then I found Jesus
I found new life
Then I found mercy
God reconciled
Joy fills my days now
Peace is all mine
Born again only by grace

Rolling Stones

The men were aghast
When Jesus had asked
That they roll away the stone
They did what He said
But then they all fled
For fear of a stink from the tomb

Then Jesus looked higher
He prayed to the Father
To glorify Himself today
He called Lazarus
Come forth from the grave
The people were soon all amazed

Lazarus walked out
There was no doubt
He had risen from the dead
They slowly unwrapped
His body in tact
And praised God for this great event

About two weeks later
In a scene much greater
Another stone was rolled away
It was not a man
But by angel’s plans
The stone was rolled back from the grave

When Peter arrived
With John by his side
The empty tomb greeted them there
Mary had been there
She looked everywhere
Then an angel said shed not a tear

Jesus has risen
Just as he said
You’ll not find the living among the dead
Go and I’ll meet you
In Galilee
Then you will go His story to spread

As she hurried off
Jesus appeared
He stopped and told her not to fear
He is alive
For all to see
Soon all the world will be longing to hear

Two stones rolled away
Two dead men alive
Two miracles made
Two moments in time

Our stones can defeat us
Our stones hold us back
But God has the answer
Your stone He’ll attack

He’ll roll it away
By man or His power
You’ll rise once again
Through His grace this hour

Wandered Off?

I grew up in Sunday School
Attended every week
When teenage years arrived
I even helped to teach

I went astray much later
Early twenties were a mess
My life became a party
Of God I could care less

But even with that background
Of church at every turn
The prospect of salvation
Was foreign as a term

Then I heard one day
That Jesus died for me
Despite all of my past
I still His child could be

I quit the party life
I gave my life to Him
And now I am set free
From all my guilt and sin

If you have wandered off
And God seems far away
Ask Jesus for His grace
He’ll save your soul today

The Stone Was Rolled

He came to Bethany that day
He heard the news but then delayed
His good friend sick in bed did lay
He waited several days

Then He heard His friend was dead
He then did go to see His friend
He knew what God would do ahead
His perfect plan was laid

The sisters of His friend did weep
They knew their brother did not sleep
They laid him in a tomb to keep
And rolled a stone to seal

They met Jesus on the way
If you had been here he’d be safe
They wept as they showed Him the place
Where the tomb was sealed

Jesus wept then raised His eyes
He prayed that God be glorified
He looked the men right in the eye
Now roll away that stone

When it was moved He made a cry
Lazarus come forth to life
The dead came forth with head held high
Unwrap him and go home

A few days later Christ was dead
His borrowed tomb was sealed in dread
A stone slab had become His bed
But He had other plans

An angel came and rolled the stone
Jesus came forth to gain His throne
Death was defeated, sin atoned
Now on His word we stand

A Glorious Plan

I can’t always see
Where this road is lead
I can’t always know
What His grace will bestow
I can’t always understand
The way of His master plan
But I know all things work for my good

Whether sickness or pain or trial of faith
Whether heartache or sorrow or doubt for tomorrow
No matter what comes I know He’s right there
His hope is my refuge His grace is my stay

He has a plan that nothing can change
Full of blessings prepared just for me
As I walk by faith
In His mercy and grace
