Hunters, Crabs and Bears, Oh My

I have seen the big and little dog
I have seen the hunter’s belt
I’ve seen the crab and the ram
The twins were there as well

Shining high above the sky
In all their astral beauty
I look up and behold their light
I listen to their story

They tell of a creator
Who placed them one by one
They tell of His great glory
They tell me of God’s son

He came down from the heaven’s
To redeem us from our sin
The next time you see that bear
I pray you’ll follow Him

Learning to Speak

I love tell my story
Of what my life has brought
I’ve learned to speak to people
Things Toastmasters has taught

This learning brought me knowledge
In nearly everything
I have become conversant
When topics people bring

The subject I enjoy the most
Is of my Saviors love
How even when my sin was huge
He loved me from above

He came to earth so long ago
Became my sacrifice
Now I can have His peace and joy
He gives eternal life

I’ll tell you that you too can know
This precious love He gives
Just ask Him to forgive your sins
Then you as well shall live

Refine Your Plans

It used to be in days of old
That miners would assess their gold
By biting in and taking hold
To see how soft it was

Then men developed great techniques
To check the gold for strength and weak
When the assay was done they’d speak
To tell what they had found

We all are like gold in God’s hands
He tests us and refines our plans
To make the most of every man
By taking out the bad

So give your life to Him today
Let Him be your guide every day
He’ll lead you in His golden ways
Because He loves you so

Digging Up Clams

My Grandpa lived in Maine
Not a long ways from the bay
He farmed a little land
We helped to gather hay

When chores were all completed
Down to the shore we’d go
Digging up the clams
Encrusted in the soil

We’d clean the dirt off carefully
Then in the pot they’d go
All cleaned from dirt and grime
With butter we enjoyed

Our lives are like those clams
The dirt of sin and shame
Has captured us from birth
We cannot clean it’s stain

God gave us His son
To clean us from all sin
His sacrifice of love
Will cleanse our hearts within

No Regrets

I forgot to publish this yesterday and just found it, so thought I’d post it now. This is yesterday’s prompt!

My wife’s a country bumpkin
Now I’ve become one too
Since the day I moved to Iowa
I was raised on city life
The bright lights spoke to me
Then my first sight of her I fell in love

The city had its beauty
But my life was a mess
I had to move or stay within that rut
No compromise could come
It was country or my past
The choice to move I never will regret

One other place we all
Must make a firm hard choice
Is if we will accept our Saviors’ love
There is no compromise
Because for you He died
Decided today to make Him Lord of all

In response to the daily prompt Compromise

Nothing Sound

One day hot the next day cold
One day sun then clouds enfold
One day dry the next day rain
Patterns never are the same

One day right the next day wrong
Morals wain as sin is strong
No more can we know the truth
No more can we trust their fruit

Ever changing world around
Nothiing constant nothing sound
Reeling in a world of duubt
Willl the truth ever come out

Only one thing always stays
One thing still remains the same
Jesus loves you, thiis  know
For the Bible tells me so

The Present

Today is the day
Not tomorrow
Not yesterday
Today is the day
To praise the Lord

Today is the day
Not next week
Not last week
Today is the day
To worship Him

He is the one
Who gives us the present
He is the one
Who gives breath every day
He is the one
Who gives rythm to heart beats
Only my God
Can show me the way

Today is a present
All wrapped up in hope
His peace calms my spirit
His joy overflows

This wonderful present
Is mine for the asking
It comes every moment
From Jesus my King

He is the one
That showers with mercy
He is the one
Whose love reigns divine
He is the one
Who gives grace amazing
Only my God
Will always be mine

Today is the day
Today is the present
Today is my gift
From Jesus my Lord
Today I will praise Him
Today I will worship
Today is my chance
To give thanks to my Lord.

The Ultimate Test

I could fight a lion, a tiger or bear
I could scale heights up to the sky
I could go deep in the oceans below
Or out of an airplane dive

I could go into a deep and dark cave
To explore where no other has gone
I could walk into the jungle so vast
Then try and find my way back home

If I would do any of these lofty things
Most would say that courage is mine
But courage is more than a feat done by me
Just to make me seem bigger than life

Courage is giving oneself for another
To fight someone’s battle for them
The ultimate test of courage was shown
By Jesus of Nazereth

He came to this earth the King of all Kings
Then He gave His life for all mankind
He was tortured and beaten for your sins and mine
Then He hung on a cross to die

Don’t let His courage just drift from your mind
Because He was your sacrifice
He did it for you
You’ve just one thing to do
Accept His love for it brings life

In response to the daily prompt Courage

No Excuse

It doesn’t  take a rocket scientist
It doesn’t take a city boy
It doesn’t take a college professor
Or a person who’s self-employed

It doesn’t take a big jet pilot
It doesn’t take a sporting star
It doesn’t take a foreign leader
Or a rube who does not travel far

All you have to do is look up
At the heaven’s some starry night
To know that there’s a design
That put them all to flight

Then wake up in the morning
To the splendor of the dawn
At evening brilliant sunsets
Declare that there’s a God

On judgment day there’s no excuse
That your were never told
You’ve seen it every day you’ve lived
From youth to very old

So today if you’re not right
With our God who reigns above
Ask Jesus to forgive your sins
And accept His gracious love

Hairless

If I would shave off my mustache
Then shave all the hair from my head
I would look quite the same
As when cancer came
I my hair was found even in bed

I never needed a costume
To go out and trick or treat
With all that head clean
The difference was seen
By all who saw me on the street

But now it has all grown back
Better than ever I think
God has been good
His mercy has stood
With me through thick and through thin

I’m in remission now
I feel quite terrific in fact
Just 8 short more months
For chemo maint’nance
I’ll be cured of cancer at last
