Trudging Along?

Many people go through life
Trudging from day to day
They don’t have a spring in their step
They are not quite sure of their way

The thing that there missing is easy
It’s a hope that is steadfast and sure
When we put all our trust in Jesus
That glimmer of hope is assured

In fact it’s no longer a glimmer
But a bright shining light up ahead
When Jesus is Lord and Savior
Then Heaven a bright light instead

So set your mind squarely on Jesus
Let Him be your guiding Light
No longer will life be just trudging
You’ll find it is sunny and bright

Every Time I Praise You

Every time I praise you
Every time I worship
Every time I lift my hands to you
I can feel your presence
Welling up inside me
I just want to lift my song to you

A song of your great mercy
A song of your great love
A song of joy unspeakable and full
A song of grace and passion
A song of peace sublime
A song of Hallelujah
Praise the Lord

Warmer Times

It’s nice that spring is arriving
Warmer times are on the way
I can get out my bike and pedal
Get my exercise in each day

I am counting steps on my smartphone
The GPS tracks every move
But sometimes things disrupt the signal
So the accuracy does not groove

Life can be like that tracking device
Moments come that disrupt the flow
Sometimes those moments are pleasant
And sometimes we wish they’d go

There is one thing I’m sure of
And I hope that you are too
My God controls every moment
I know He’ll take care of you

Words of Love

His name will move all my mountains
His name will heal all my pain
His name will bring strength and courage
His name gives me joy again

His name is my rock and refuge
His name is my fortress strong
His name always brings me mercy
His name fills my soul with songs

To worship Him is what I long for
My heart cries to give Him praise
Hands uplifted toward the throne room
Words of love for Jesus name

His name has removed my sin stains
His name has forgiven me
His name rose to gain the victory
His name spoken sets me free

Oh the mighty name of Jesus
Jesus, Jesus Lord of life
I will sing the name if Jesus
All the day and all the night

To worship Him is what I long for
My heart cries to give Him praise
Hands uplifted toward the throne room
Words of love for Jesus name

Summer Favorite

There’s nothing much that I like more than root beer floats in summer
The ice cream and the drink go hand in hand
I must be careful every time
I make one of these drinks sublime
That froth does not too drastically expand

For there’s no substance in the froth that builds up rather quickly
Then slowly shrinks back down into place
I may enjoy the frothy taste
But soon it all will dissipate
My root beer float will fill its rightful space

This world is full or froth in all the various ideas
Of how eternal life can be attained
One thing I know is true
Jesus must be Lord of you
If hell you will avoid and heaven gain

Lamb of God

Lamb of God so gentle
A dove would rest on you
A sign of your compassion for us all
Humble meek and lowly
You bowed and were baptized
You are God’s Son in whom He is well pleased

Lamb of God so humble
Ministered to all
Healed the sick and made the blind to see
Fed the multitude
Washed disciples’ feet
Gave your life to save humanity

Lamb of God so mighty
You sit upon the throne
Ten thousand times ten thousand worship you
Cherubim and Seraphim
Join the joyful throng
Holy, holy, holy is your name

Jesus Lamb of God
Sacrifice for all
Gave His life for me
Died upon the cross
Rose again to give
Eternal life to all
Blessed be your name
Jesus Christ the Lamb of God

The Painting

The old man didn’t know
If he had one more painting in him
Or what his shaky fingers could do
He had painted many things
Through the years so long ago
That now he could not figure what to choose
Then he looked out of his window
To see a bright sunset
And he knew this was a moment not to lose
He prepared his canvas well
Set his tripod on the hill
And decided to just let his fingers loose

The young man stood there weeping
At the graveside of his father
Who had passed away so swiftly in the night
For years they’d been apart
And just lately Dad had called him
And wanted to make sure he was all right
For the next few weeks they talked and talked
And grew quite close again
And the future started looking very bright
And as he stood there in the twilight
Tears flowed down his face as he fought
The hurt and anger at his plight.

God paints the sunset every day
A million different colors
Changing hue from ray to ray
And the beauty he creates
Cannot be matched by any man
Because every evening sunset
Is a gift that God created
To please the eye of every single man

The old man finished painting
And he laid down his brush
Then he heard a voice he hadn’t heard for years
The voice of God spoke softly
That he should write a note
And place it with the picture he held near
God instructed him to take the picture
To the local store
With the note neatly tucked in to the rear
And give the painting to a man
Who walked into the store with eyes
That had been filled with tears

The young man wandered aimlessly
Through the streets of town
Not knowing what direction he would go
When he happened in the store
Where the owner stood there smiling
The picture in his arms was his to show
And the tears once again
Welled inside the young man’s eyes
As he saw the painting staring out so bold
He could not believe what the painting
Of the sunset right before him
So looked it over once and one time more.

God paints the sunset every day
A million different colors
Changing hue from ray to ray
And the beauty he creates
Cannot be matched by any man
Because every evening sunset
Is a gift that God created
To please the eye of every single man

The young man finally spoke
And asked where this painting had come from
It was a sunset he had seen before
And the owner answered back
He had recently received it
Just 5 days had passed since he was done
The young man saw the sunset
That was there on the day
He last said my goodbye’s to my Dad
He’d been trying to find something
To remember him forever
And now this painting came into life

Now the owner said just wait
This picture is for you
No charge because it’s from the masters hand
And he handed him the note
That was penned upon completion
Of the painting of that sunset days before
As the young man read the note
The tears started flowing
A sob or two came forth amid the joy
And he read aloud in broken voice
The words the note contained
And the shop keeper just bowed his head in thanks

I painted this sunset just for you today
Knowing that your heart was full of pain
As you look upon its beauty
Just remember that I love you
For only God can paint the sunset just for you.

God paints the sunset every day
A million different colors
Changing hue from ray to ray
And the beauty he creates
Cannot be matched by any man
Because every evening sunset
Is a gift that God created
To please the eye of every single man

The Best Intentions

I’ve always felt I had a knack for knowing many words
Spelling was a friend of mine even the absurd
I have a big vocabulary which I count most dear
So when I looked at the word today I did not shed a tear

I took my little fingers and typed inchoate define
In just a blink a new word was settled in my mind
I started out this rhyme with the best intentions planned
It’s always fun to have a new word I can understand

I often find myself reading something in God’s Word
That stimulates my mind as I think about my Lord
Learning of His ways is so easy and close by
Will you pick up your Bible and let Him show you why?

Why He gave His Son to be your sacrifice
Why He gave a way to provide eternal life
Why He says today you can be free of your sin
Why not call to Jesus and ask Him to come in?

My Packed Truck

Been doing some destruction
Changing storage to a hall
To make room for a sliding door
That needs to be installed

The drywall and the two-by-fours
Are packed up in my truck
We’ll take them to the landfill soon
Once roads aren’t filled with muck

In life it’s so much harder”
To rid ourselves of stuff
We haul it all around with us
Until it hurts to much

Jesus came to take that mess
The weight that burdens you
Just ask Him to forgive your sin
He’ll let you start brand new
