My Heavenly Father

I once had a Father on earth
Who I barely knew at all
He left us when I was young
And He hardly ever called

We would get a gift at Christmas
And a visit here and there
But through time I grew bitter
And didn’t even care.

The anger inside grew mighty
As I reached my teenage years
I got into things angered my mom
And had her often in tears

I could not find my way through life
I struggled just to survive
The time had to come to turn around
Or I might take my life

Then a friend from a long time ago
Came and told me a story I knew
But He told it in such a different way
I listened and heard the truth

I have a heavenly Father 
Who loves me very much
A heavenly Father up above
Who came my heart to touch

He gave His own son
To die in my place
And covered my sin
With amazing grace 
	
His mercy is greater 
Than all my shame
He’ll live in my heart
And call me by name

And one day he’ll come
And take me home
To a life everlasting
Around His throne

I love my heavenly Father
He takes care of all my needs
My heavenly Father
He’ll always be there for me

I have a Father	
Who loves me so much
He blesses me all of my days
Daily He listens
To hear every prayer
And leads me in all if His ways 

When I am weary
I ask Him for strength
And He sends the spirit of life
When I am sick
I pray He will heal
And He gives me patience to fight


Oh, what a wonderful Father
Mercy and Grace are His ways 
I know He will love me forever
So I'll worship Him all of my dayslov

When I have trouble
I ask Him for help
And He sends me peace in the storm
When I am lonely
I call out His name
And He holds me safe in His arms

Oh, what a wonderful Father
Mercy and Grace are His ways 
I know He will love me forever
So I'll worship Him all of my days

He gave His own Son
To die on a cross 
So eternal life would be mine
My sin is erased 
My shame is all gone 
I'll now be with Him for all time

 I’ve squandered my existence on things I should not do
 I’ve travelled many roads where I truly should not go
 I’ve spoken many words that I never should have said
 I’ve done so many things that should have left me dead
  
 One day I was just walking with a  friend of mine
 He told me about Jesus and His love sublime
 I thought about that message and bowed my head in prayer
 Jesus saved me from myself right then and there
  
 He forgave me.  He redeemed me. 
 He set me on the path to heaven
 He restored me.  Oh what mercy
 I’m adopted as a son of God
  
 Now I do my best to walk with Him each day
 Sometimes I wander off the path and lose my way
 Bet He is quick to rescue me and take me in His arms
 He never lets me suffer long or come to any harm
  
 He upholds me.  He adores me
 I am not sure why He loves me so much
 He restores me.  Oh what mercy
 I’m adopted as a son of God
  
 An heir of the kingdom, His promises are mine
 His will has been written and my name is on the line
 I’ll praise Him forever with all my heart and soul
 For he is my Savior and my Lord
  
 He upholds me.  He adores me
 I am not sure why He loves me so much

He is always with my
Walks beside me
Guards behind me
Leads before me
Whispers to me
Words of love
Words of mercy
Words if grace
He is as patient as the bee
Waiting for the flower to bloom
He is as joyful as the bird
Who teaches her young how to fly
He has plans for me
Plans greater than I can see
His plans for this universe
Are no match for His plans for me
He always wants what us best
He always brings good
Out of everything that comes my way
The hardest trial brings the greatest victory
The deepest valley brings amazing growth
The fiercest storm brings rainbows of treasure
Because He brings good out of all things
I never have to fear
I never have to worry
I never have to doubt
I never have to wonder
What He says He will do
Because He cannot lie
He says He hears my cry so He does
He says He will answer my prayers so He will
He says He will show my His ways so I shall see
He says He will speak to me so His words will come
I can depend in Him like the sunrise
I can rely on Him like the stars at night
He is everlasting
He is almighty
He is glorious
He is wonderful
He is amazing
He is my King
He is my Lord
He is my Savior
He is my redeemer
He is my God
He is my Father
And He loves me.
