Ponder These Things

Lord of the Heavens

Seated on the right hand of God

Four and twenty elders worshipping

Sing glory and honor and power and might

To the King of Kings and Lord of Lords

Exalted above all others

Since the beginning of time

Glorious and majestic

Full of awe and wonder

All things created by Him

All things created for Him

Beautiful beyond description

More precious than silver or gold

Merciful and gracious

Longsuffering and full of goodness

Worthy of all praise

Son of the most high God

Holy is He

King of heaven and earth

Left His heavenly place

Left the splendor and the glory

Left the right hand of God

Left His Father

Left His power and authority

Left His throne

To come to this earth

Disrobed of His glory

Clothed in rags

A baby in a manger

No honor bestowed Him

No welcome of royalty

But animals in the stable

A star announcing His birth

Brightly shines above the city

Wise men from afar witness the star

They start their journey

Angels announcing His birth to shepherds

Not to kings

Sing glory to God in the Highest

Say the Savior, Christ the Lord, has come

As a babe in as manger

Beckon the shepherds to go and see

They come and tell Mary their tale

And bow before the King of Kings

Little baby in the hay

Mary ponders these things in her heart

We should so ponder these things

His humility

His love

His sacrifice

All for us

All for you

All for me

The Songs of Christmas

Hear the sounds of Christmas
Ringing in the air
Sounds that warm your heart
Meant for all to hear

Jingle Bells are jingling
Everywhere you go
Wishing Merry Christmas
To all who hear them toll

The First Noel has sounded
From choirs bringing cheer
Noel, Noel Born is the King
Is music to our ears

Precious songs of Christmas
Songs if warmth and cheer
Sung with all your heart
Every single year

And then a chorus fills the air
Hark the Herald Angels Sing
Voices of the highest praise
Glory to the newborn King

Oh, little town of Bethlehem
A town we’ve grown to love
Is visited by three wise men
Who saw he star above

Sing the tale of Christmas
With familiar lines
From children to our elders
Enjoying every rhyme

Away in lowly manger
No room was found for them
In hay they laid their baby
And there His tale begins

Silent Night, Holy Night
When Jesus Christ was born
The songs of His appearing
Are songs that bring us joy

Joy to the World
Jesus Christ has come
Born to die for all mankind
Praise the Holy One

Sing the songs of Christmas
Lift your praise above
Sing with all your heart
Songs we know and love

Meek and Mild

She came riding on a donkey
From many towns away
Ready to give birth to her first child
The ride she took was rugged
The trail sometimes was steep
Her journey would go on for many miles

Joseph walked and held the reins
Guiding her along
Wishing he could ease the pain she felt
When they reached their destination
Relief did fill their souls
They sought a room to settle for the night

The innkeeper did all He could
To find for them a room
But a stable was the only place he had
Mary’s child was born that night
In a manger filled with hay
Wrapped in rags the blessed Savior lay

Meek and mild
Mother and child
Filled all prophecy that night
Angels praised
Shepherds gazed
Below the star so bright

Shepherds watching flocks that night
Were summoned by the angels
Go and see the babe in Bethlehem
He us Savior Christ to all
Peace is what He brings
Glory be to God in the highest

As they knelt before Him
They realized their place
As all of history would mark this day
Simple lowly shepherds
Were called to be the ones
They were the first to bow to Him and pray

Not the rich
Not the mighty
Not the ones in power
He calls us in humility
To worship Him this hour

Meek and mild
Mother and child
Filled all prophecy that night
Angels praised
Shepherds gazed
Below the star so bright

The Great Payment

Have you ever thought it strange
That a baby in a manger
Would be the one who came to set men free
And have you ever stopped to think
About the fact that Heaven’s King
Left His throne to come and die for you and me

You may think it’s fable
He was born in lowly stable
But the story has withstood the test of time
And I thought that you should know
Why I’ve come to love Him so
For I want you to know this Lord of Life

You see, He changed my life
When I came to Him that time
That my life was spinning out of control
He forgave all of my sin
And He put His spirit in
Now He walks with me wherever I may go

Because this baby in the manger
Was no ordinary stranger
But the Son of God who came to earth that day
He shared the Father’s love
And brought healing from above
And He said He was the truth the life the way

His teaching brought division
Put the leaders in derision
They decided that He must be put to death
So they shouted crucify Him
On a cross they railed against Him
And He gave His life in one last gasp of breath

The final price was paid
For the sin of human race
And now we are set free forevermore
And it all began that day
In a stable filled with hay
And a baby who the blessed Mary bore.

This Christmas don’t forget
The great payment for our debt
That was made by that baby in the hay
He was born to die for me
And to set the captive free
Let us celebrate His birth this Christmas day

Come and See

Hurry up
Come and see
The baby in the hay
They say He’s the Messiah
Born this simple way

Hurry up
Come and see
The star shine up above
It lights the way for all to come
And see His smile of love

Come and see the wonder
Come and see Messiah
Lying in a manger
Came to save the world

Hurry up
Come and see
The shepherds worship Him
Angels came to beckon them
Salvation He would bring

Come and see the wonder
Come and see Messiah
Lying in a manger
Came to save the world

His mother smiles
His father grins
They know the promise
Made to them
They hold it deep
Within their hearts
They know His life
Will be so hard

Come and see the wonder
Come and see Messiah
Lying in a manger
Came to save the world

Came to give His life
Came to save the world
Became a sacrifice
Because He loved this world

He Taught Us

He taught us obedience when He left heaven
Left His throne to come to earth
Left His glory to take on flesh
Left the praise to come and die

He taught us humility when He was born
In a lowly stable filled with hay
Wrapped with rags and settled in a manger
Born on earth to die for me

He taught us patience as He grew
Quiet submission to His father here
Learning life with no fanfare
Waiting for His day to arrive

He taught us submission when He was baptized
Knelt before John in the river Jordan
Ready to take on the mantle prepared for Him
Acknowledged as God’s son forever

He taught us compassion as He went
Town to town, touching the people
Answering questions meant to condemn Him
Meekness empowered in His loving eyes

He taught us wisdom as He was tried
Wrongly accused and condemned to die
His words would be futile, so He stayed silent
Ready to fulfill His mission in life

He taught us peace as He went toward the cross
Beaten and bruised, He was quiet through all
From the garden to Calvary there was no complaint
Died on that cross for me

He taught us hope as He rose from the grave
Back to the Father in heaven above
Giving us victory that will never fade
Oh what a Savior we have

Christmas is but once a year
A very special time
When families get together
And celebrate His life

To most the day is festive
To some it’s just digestive
The food is  all they came for
They just don’t know our Savior

Let love flow from you freely
As we celebrate with cheer
May you have a Merry Christmas
And a Happy New Year

In response to the daily prompt Festive

Merry Christmas To All

Merry Christmas to all

Of my new friends online

Where I really enjoy

Spending lots of my time

In this new WordPress world

Where you all are so kind

And welcome me into your hearts

Your writings have blessed me

In so many ways

And I’ve learned so much

From your comments each day

As I get back my health

I can honestly say

This habit helps carry me through

May your Christmas be filled

With joy unabated

And peace that flows out

To all those related

May love fill your house

Until all have decided

To make Jesus the Lord of their lives
