Shaky Ground

Great distress has filled my mind
So many troubles all around
My heart and soul are filled with doubt
As my life stands on shaky ground

But then a ray of hope I see
It wanders in from who knows where
My eyes peek through my darkened room
I open up His precious word 

Words of truth I read
Desperate and in need
Quickly I can see His hand on me
Faith is now revived
Quickened to new life
All my worries fade into the sea

His word is an anchor
His word filled with promise
His word where hope and faith are born
His word is everlasting
His word reveals my soul
His word leads me right back to my Lord

And I can breath again
I can see again
I now know that He is with me
My troubles flee away
I have faith again
Hope has now returned
His word has lit a fire down in my soul.

Like a kitty cat without a home
I was wandering through life all alone
I was scrounging all the time
Because food was hard to find
My heart and soul was hungering for more

Then a friend from long ago came by
‘He told me there was something I should try
He told me of His Lord
And the food within His word
Then He fed me with a verse at a time

That word he gave me started to sink in
Until it settled down deep within
I kept coming back for more
Very soon I knew His Lord
My wandering then ceased forevermore

Because He fed me

The Word of God was honey to my soul

Until the day I finally knew my Lord

Then I realized that water was there too
In the words of the pages I His book
I was thirsty for a drink
When He brought His word to me
Now my thirst is satisfied forevermore

And the bread of life that only He could give

I had been close to death but now I live

A crowd gathered in the street
Welcoming the King
Palm leaves scattered on the ground 
Robes laid at His feet

Hosanna to the King who comes 
Riding on a colt 
Proclaiming highest praise to Him
Before the rocks cry out

He overturns the temple wares
Rebukes the Pharisees 
Tells stories of hard times to come
The crowd now disbelieves

By night they take Him quickly
A fast and unfair trial
He stands before the crowd again 
They shout crucify

A crowd gathered in the street
To mock this would be king
His body whipped and beaten down
He walks in suffering

Up to Calvary they go

The death angel roamed through the city
His mission he had to obey
The firstborn would die 
There’s be sorrow that night
For Pharaoh was stuck in his ways

The people of God were prepared for the angel
They took a new lamb to their care
For three days He stayed
Then a sacrifice made
The lamb was their meal to share

There was a sign for the angel to pass
So the firstborn would be left alive
If the blood was applied 
They all would survive
The death angel passed in the night

Sin has been passed to us from Adam’s seed
All are infected within
One day will soon come
The return of the Son
Will He find we have covered our sin

He shed His own blood as our Passover lamb
On that cruel cross so long ago
When His blood is applied
To the sin in our lives
He washes us whiter than snow

Be prepared for the day that the Son will return
Accept His sweet showing of grace
It’s for you that he died
In the tomb He did lie
Then in three days He rose from the grave
