Only the Blood of Jesus

What is it that reaches the depths of my heart
What is it that brings in a grace that imparts
What is it that makes us from sin to depart
Only the blood. Only the blood

What is it that cleanses my heart from all sin
What is it that places His peace deep within
What is it that helps us our battles to win
Only the blood of Jesus

Only the blood will bring us to God
Only the blood will birth in us awe
Of the wonderful price that He paid that day
When He washed our sins away

What is it that reached down from heaven that day
When a virgin born baby lay sleeping in hay
Shepherds and wise men came ‘round to pray
Only the blood. Only the blood

Only the blood came to earth that day
Inside the flesh of the babe in the hay
Had He not said that He’d come this way
Our sins would not be washed away

On this Christmas day remember the blood
Remember the price He paid was enough
To pardon your sin and build a new heart
Only the blood of Jesus

Christmas Poetry

Extraordinary Day

It’s not ordinary at all
What happened that day
When heaven came down
In a manger to lay

Angels came singing
To shepherds alone
Kings came from far
As the brightest star shone

Mother and father
Had traveled so far
To find the inn full
Underneath that star

Bet both of them knew
That this special day
The Savior was born
To take sin away

Yet the kept quiet
About their sons fate
He didn’t come too soon
And He was not late

The time was just right
And today we see
That Jesus redeems
Both you and me

Let’s never forget
That extraordinary day
When heaven came down
And in a manger lay

Joy is Full

The shopping brouhaha
Is very far
From Bethlehem’s star

We save a bunch of time
Not in line
But shopping online

Then we are quite mindful
Joy is full
From Christ’s arrival

Jesus Life

He Came to Die

At Christmas time we celebrate
The Birthday of our Lord
Born this day in Bethlehem
A stable His abode

Shepherds came to greet Him
For an angel told them where
They bowed before the little child
While Mary looked on there

He grew and started preaching
Repent for God is nigh
He healed all that would come to Him
He taught them with no lies

His message made the rulers made
The planned to take His life
But He knew all about their plans
The prophets all were right

We celebrate His birth today
And rightfully we should
But more important is the fact
He came to die for you

His purpose from the very start
Was to give His life away
Please don’t forget the price He paid
On this Christmas day

The Believers Life

Center Stage

Too often I sought to be there
In the middle of it all
Pride ate me up inside
And spit me out
I fell hard and fast
Not really knowing why
Until God showed me my pride
How ugly it was
How it robbed Him of His glory
How it caused me to ignore His word
I wallowed in sin
Yet remained a cynosure
Until the day
I truly met my Savior
I thought I was saved before
I thought I had given my life
But it was only in prat
Not in whole
And I realized
He wanted all of me
Not just part
So I put away my pride
And took on Christ
In all His humility and meekness
That babe in a manger
Became my Lord
Now He takes center stage
In my life

Christmas Poetry

Christmas Cheer

It’s once again that time of year
When we ring out our Christmas cheer
We sing the songs of Jesus birth
Declaring Him through all the earth

Hark the Herald angels sing
Hear the bells oh hear them ring
O come oh come Emmanuel
A silent night for all to tell

Far away in manger lay
What child is this who sleeps in hay
Three great kings come from afar
Joy to the world beneath that star

We’ve heard angels from on high
Little town of Bethlehem sighs
Come all ye faithful raise your voice
Come let us adore our Lord

In all these songs we give Him praise
For He our sin has far erased
This Christmas time I hope you know
The reason for the seasons show

Let Christ be lifted high above
Tell all your friends of His great love
That He would leave His royal throne
To come to earth and die alone

Pretty Lights

Pretty Lights

We have a tradition in my house
At Christmas time each year
We decorate with pretty lights
To show our Christmas cheer

And right in the center of all
The scene of the manger is placed
Because what would Christmas be
Without giving Christ our praise

The Believers Life

Help Me to Yield

Not in my strength but yours
Not in my will but yours
Not in my way
Not in my day
But only through you Lord

Not in my grace but yours
Not my mercy but yours
Not what I think
Not what I bring
But the off ‘ring you require

Only by you can I overcome
This world is too strong for me
Only in you can the fight be won
Help me to yield
Help me to yield

I don’t need my joy but yours
I don’t need my peace but yours
Not my own self
Not my thought life
I don’t need my love but yours

I have tried everything I know how and failed
There is no way to victory on my own
I need to give you my life
As a living sacrifice
That is the only way to come through

Only by you can I overcome
This world is too strong for me
Only in you can the fight be won
Help me to yield
Help me to yield

Heaven and Hell

Where Would I Be

If God were not merciful where would I be
I’m guessing I’d be dead for sin would kill me
My body would be buried under a tree
But my soul would be bound for hell

If God did not shed His grace where would I be
Most likely I would be without my family
I’d still be bound by the things that thrill me
Running around for the thrills

If God did not give His peace where would I be
Daily my worries would put fear in me
My hair would be gray and I would not be free
Most likely I’d hide in my shell

If God did not give me hope where would I be
I’d live for today and have constant parties
I would not care what tomorrow might bring
I certainly would not fear hell

If God did not live me where would I be
Lost in the depths of a sinful sea
Waves would be crashing in around me
And I would be bound for hell

Oh God you are merciful beyond degree
Your grace peace and hope are all around me
Your love reached my soul and has set me free
Now heaven is truly my home

I thank you dear Lord for setting me free
I thank you that I do not have to worry
I thank you that you sent your Son for me
Now I will live just for you

Remember

The baby in the manger
The shepherds in the field
The wise men and their gifts
The angel in the heavens
The star shines up above
Mary bows her head
Joseph standing tall

The pageant is before us
As Christmas day does near
Maybe in the town square
Or in our church so dear

Usually little children
Act out the yearly scene
Showing us the Christ child
The way that it would seem

But do we really see Him
The King of Kings is He
Lord of all the heavens
Filled with God’s mercy

Do we bow before Him
Repenting of our sins
Do we give Him honor
And ask Him to come in

Come in to all our failures
Come in to all our pain
Come in to rescue us
And save us once again

This Christmas as you watch
The pageant and the show
Remember that this child
Is the one who saves your soul
