Lead Me

I rarely can see where He’s leading

I often must simply obey

My walk is by faith

As I quietly wait

While He leads my along the way

His plan will unfold before me

The road always turns for my good 

No matter the test

My soul can find rest

When I know that He’ll carry me through

Lead me, Lord, lead me today

I’ll follow you through the fire

Lead me by your Holy Spirit 

Your will is my desire

You always know my limitations 

You stretch my faith further each day

I know I’ll come through

When I trust in you

As I quietly learn to obey

No test too hard

No trial to big

No turn to sharp 

No time to think

Simply by faith

You’ll bring me through

As long as my faith remains

Lead me, Lord, lead me today

I’ll follow you through the fire

Lead me by your Holy Spirit 

Your will is my desire

One More Day

Slivered sunbeams touch the gray clouds at morn
As rising sunlight begins the clouds to adorn
Shimmering red and orange fills the coming dawn
You’ve granted me one more day

Slipping slowly out from the comfort of bed
Opening eyes wiping the sleep from my head
Feet hit the floor standing I slowly tread
I praise you for one more day

Your mercy is overwhelming
Your grace washes over me
Your love surrounds me in the air I breath
You are all I need

Solemnly sifting through the truth in your book
Studying how you bless those that look
I am grateful that me you have not forsook
I will give to you this one more day

You owe me nothing
Yet you grant me breathe
I am but dust
Yet you gave up your life
I often fail
Yet your faithful to me
Marvelous wonderful Lord

Your mercy is overwhelming
Your grace washes over me

Our Salute

We celebrate our soldiers
Who proudly serve this land
Protecting all our freedoms
From distant enemy plans

We celebrate our warriors
Who proudly risk their lives
To go to foreign countries
Helping nations to survive

Americans rise up and shout
Give honor to our troops
They give their lives
With humble pride
Let’s give them our salute

We celebrate the army
On ground they fight our foes
We celebrate marines
Where trouble is they go

We celebrate the air force
In sky they have no match
We celebrate the navy
In sea they wait attacks

Americans rise up and shout
Give honor to our troops
They give their lives
With humble pride
Let’s give them our salute

We celebrate the coast guard
Day and night protect our shores
We celebrate the national guard
In our land they reward

We celebrate our veterans
Who have served with pride
They gave their better years to us
We owe them each our lives

We celebrate the fallen
Who have given everything
To protect this greatest country

He Watches Over Me

As I lay down and try to sleep 

My eyes well up as tears they weep

I have no doubt my soul He keeps

He watches over me
I try to write the words I hear

Within my heart not through my ear

His words come softly but so clear

He watches over me
I see His face like in a dream 

He is so close He breathes on me

I know He’s there so real it seems

He watches over me 
This reassurance calms my mind

I know His love is surely mine

Now I can sleep sound and sublime

He watches over me 
When I awake in morning time 

To watch the sunrise slowly climb 

I’ll know without a doubt in mind 

He watches over me

Lord, give me a thankful heart,
one that is appreciative
one that to all Your blessings
is attuned and sensitive.

Let it be a heart,
that sings its daily praise
let it be my heartfelt gratitude
that to You I earnestly raise.

Let me have a heart,
truly thankful for all things
no matter what in my life
You should choose to bring

Let my heart flow with,
the rivers of Your peace
so my appreciation to You
I may continually release.

Lord, give me a thankful heart,
one that is steadily hopeful
let it be the heart of one . . .
who is truly, forever grateful!

From This Moment On

I was drifting
Far away from you
Didn’t take time to pray
Or praise you each day
I was struggling
To make sense of life
Then I turned to the cross
And I found what I lost

You paid the price for me;
Suffered and died for me.
Rose from the dead to give
Eternal life
I have so much to be
Thankful for now I see
Everything you have done
To give me life

So from this moment on
I am yours every day.
From this moment on
I will follow your ways
From this moment on
I will give you my praise.
You are the Lord of my life
From this moment on

I am trusting
My whole life to you.
I will take time to pray
Ae you each day
I am seeking
To draw close to you
So I’ll worship your name
And I’ll rest in your grace

You give your love to me;
Pour out your grace so free.
Your Holy Spirit brings
Joy to my soul
I have so much to be

This is an updated version of a poem I posted about a week ago.  I am considering entering it into a contest, so made some revisions with suggestions from my grand-daughter, who is studying poetry in school right now.  I would appreciate any comments or suggestions you may have.

Day 1
As I sit at my desk
Pen in hand
Weary from the day
Note to self
Remember this above all else
Don’t worry so much
Don’t break a sweat over tomorrow
Just concentrate on the gift of today
The present

Day 2
Pen in hand and ready
As my mind wanders
To events of today
Note to self
Never feel alone
God is always with you
Whether you feel Him or not
Trust Him

Day 3
I pick up my pen again
My mind remembers
The troubles of the day
Note to self
This trial will end
It has only come for moment
To help you grow in the faith
It came to pass

I need reminding quite often
That the mercy of God is for me
This His grace will always cover me
That He loves me despite myself
So I write these
Notes to self

Day 4
Upon waking in the morning
Rubbing the sleep
Out of my weary eyes
Note to self
You’ll be okay
Don’t sweat the small stuff
Or even the big stuff for that matter
Give it to God

Day 5
In case I face troubles
In case II have doubt
Note to self
God loves you
No matter what you say or do
He will always be there for you
He is faithful

Day 6
My duty for today
And everyday
Remains the same

Give Him your all
Don’t hold back in your witness
Let the world hear your testimony
Be bold for the Lord

Who names the stars one by one
Who tames the wind and lights the sun
Who calms the sea when storms rage on
He does

Who sounds the thunder for all to hear
Who brings the dawn for birds to cheer
Who adorns earth with flowers to wear
He does

Almighty God creator
Ruler of heaven and earth
All that He does
Displays His great love
Lift up your praise
All of your days
Tell all the world what He does

Who sees your tears and wipes them away
Who hears your words when you silently pray
Who walks beside you by night and by day
He does

Who heals your wounds and eases your pain
Who brings you peace when turmoil rains
Who lifts our faith so doubt can’t remain
He does

He came to earth to set us free
Gave His life on Calvary
Rose to life and victory
All for you all for me

Who forgives sin and shows us sweet grace
Who showers mercy and to all who obey
Who loves us more than words can say
He does

Almighty God creator
Ruler of heaven and earth
All that He does
Displays His great love
Lift up your praise
All of your days
Tell all the world what He does
Just praise Him!

Trusting Jesus Oh How Sweet

It’s so hard to describe it
This peace down in my soul
Whenever trouble comes my way
His peace will take control
There is no doubt or worry
There is no fear or dread
He gives me blessed assurance
That vict’ry is ahead

Once you understand this peace
Then joy is next in line
When all of life seems out of sorts
Abundant joy is mine
He fills my heart with singing
That new song that I love
His joy does overtake me
For I know that He has won

Trusting Jesus oh how sweet
His Spirit is to me
Trusting Jesus all the way
Gives life abundantly

Peace and joy are settled in
Now hope comes crashing through
I know my troubles are but brief
As blessings are produced
There is no hesitation
To face whatever comes
This hope will help me forge ahead
For He has overcome

Trusting Jesus oh how sweet
His Spirit is to me
Trusting Jesus all the way
Gives life abundantly

I’m resting in His mercy
I’m trusting in His grace
No trial can defeat me
His truth I do embrace
His peace is always present
His joy does fill my heart
And hope will bring me through
If from Him I don’t depart
