The Beauty of the Cross

It stands there so stately at the front of the church
Clean and lit up for all to see
We look to that cross and sing all our hymns
The Old Rugged Cross and Amazing Grace

But we don't see the agony, the heartache and pain
That was nailed to that cross on that fateful day
We think the cross is pretty and clean
But the cross that He bore was deadly and mean

We think of mercy and grace so sweet
We think of love and forgiveness of sin
We often forget the suffering and loss
The blood is the real beauty of the cross

The blood that was shed from His hands and His feet
The blood that dropped down from the thorns on His head
The blood that poured out from the scars on His back
His blood shed for me was the beauty of the cross

The blood shed for healing
The blood shed for me
The blood shed for salvation
His glorious blood
The blood of my Savior
The blood of my Lord
The blood of God's son
Given for us.

It’s Been A While

It’s been a while since I knelt bedside my bed and prayed
It’s been a while since I opened up the book and read
It’s been a while since I lifted up my arms in praise
But you have been here all along with your amazing grace

It’s been a while since I listened for your words of love
It’s been a while since I thought about your throne above
It’s been a while since I realized you are enough
But you have been there all the time with your redeeming love

Oh God, I miss my talks with you
The fulness of my walks with you
Oh God, I’ve moved so far away from you
Please help me find a way back to your unfailing grace
Have mercy on me now, my Lord, I pray

It’s time to kneel down by my bed to pray
And read the words of your amazing grace
I need to lift my arms and give you praise
For you have been right by me all the way

I soon forget that you are near
And that my prayers you always hear
I must remember that you love me all the time
Help me to see you by my side
Help me to know that you abide
Speak to my heart and open up my simple mind

Oh God, I miss my talks with you
The fulness of my walks with you
Oh God, I’ve moved so far away from you
Please help me find a way back to your unfailing grace
Have mercy on me now, my Lord, I pray
Have mercy on me now, my Lord, I pray

The Two Spectators

He sat there
The blind beggar
Behind the crowd
Begging for alms
He heard someone say Jesus was coming
He heard that Jesus opened blinded eyes
Could He do it for me?
Said Bartimaeus
He started to cry out
Jesus, thou Son of David
Have mercy on me
The crowd tried to quiet him
But Jesus came closer
Bartimaeus cried louder
Louder than the crowd
Jesus heard him and stopped
Called him forward
The crowd helped him up
Pushed him toward Jesus
Jesus asked what he wanted
He asked for his sight
And his wish was granted
His eyes were opened
He praised God
And followed Jesus

He lay there
Dead and buried
Grave clothes encased him
He’d been sick for days
They sent for Jesus, his friend
But Jesus did not come
It seemed he didn’t car
Lazarus knew Jesus could heal him
If He had only come
Now it was too late
Now He was dead
Jesus came after the funeral
Mary and Martha asked Him where He was
If he had only come
Jesus wept in sorrow
His friend was dead
But Jesus knew this was not unto death
He said role the stone away
He cried Lazarus come forth
And he did
Still wrapped in those grave clothes
Jesus said unwrap him
They unwrapped him
He was alive
And he followed Jesus

The crowd gathered in the city
Singing Hosannah
Waving palm branches
Throwing their cloaks before Him
As Jesus entered the city
Meek and lowly
Riding on a donkey
They thronged Him
Lazarus was there
Bartimaeus was there
Hailing Him
Thanking Him
For His touch
For His healing
The Pharisees mocked Him
Tried to put Him to shame
He told them the rocks would praise Him if the people did not
They plotted to kill Him
They would not let Him steal their crowd
He overturned the money changers tables
They were thieves
In His house of worship
The scribes sought to kill Him
That was their money
Lazarus and Bartimaeus watched
Thrilled with anticipation

He taught the crowd
He told them stories
Parables about life
About the last days
About 10 virgins
About a prodigal son
About a good Samaritan
They heard Him rebuke the scribes and Pharisees
They heard Him say he would come in glory
Lazarus and Bartimaeus were excited
Then they heard He had been taken in the night
The blessed night of the Passover
They heard He had been betrayed
He had been denied by His disciples
He had been condemned to die
They gathered with the crowd
The same crowd that cheered Him 4 days before
The temple leaders told them they must deny Him
Or be thrown from the temple
The crowd cried crucify Him
Crucify Him
Give us Barabbas instead
Lazarus and Bartimaeus were in disbelief
They whipped Him
Beat Him
Spit in Him
Mocked Him
Put a crown of thorns on His head
Out His cross on His back
Made Him carry it down the via Delarosa
All the way to Golgotha
Lazarus and Bartimaeus watched as he fell under the weight
A man named Simon helped Him
The laid Him in the cross
Nailed His hands and feet
Raised up that cross
Bartimaeus thought “He restored my sight to see this?”
Lazarus thought “He brought me back to life to see Him die?”
They were heart-broken
Yet they followed Him

The skies darkened at mid-day
He let out a cry
“Father forgive them. They know not what they do.”
Then “It is finished”
He hung His head
And He died
Lazarus and Bartimaeus stood side by side
They wept
They saw Joseph take the body
They followed to the garden
They wept
And wept
They did not understand
Why give me my sight to see this?
Why raise me up from the dead to see this?
They went back to the city and stayed there
They did not want to leave
They had no reason to leave

Then the sabbath day passed
They heard someone cry
He’s alive
Jesus is alive
They ran to the tomb
Saw the stone rolled away
Jumping and shouting and praising God
They rejoiced
Bartimaeus could see the empty tomb!
Lazarus knew what it was to raise from the dead
They knew
Beyond a shadow of a doubt
Jesus was alive
Alive forevermore
Alive for all to see
Alive for all to gain life!

May Jesus Shine

May His grace shine on you
His mercy shine through you
His joy shine in you
May Jesus shine

May His peace shine from you
May His hope shine around you
May His love shine all around you
May Jesus shine

From the highest hill
To the lowest valley
May Jesus shine through you
From the calmest night
To the raging storm
May Jesus shine through you

To every nation
Every tongue
Every tribe
Everyone
To all the oppressed
Who need to be free
May Jesus shine through you and me
Grace & Mercy

Mercy Comes Softly

Mercy comes softly
like a gentle rain in spring
slowly shaping into our life
To replenish us
restore us
renew us
revive us

Mercy comes softly
like a quiet breeze in the fall
bringing cool sensations of
peace in my heart
my soul
my mind
my spirit

Mercy comes softly
like a bubbling steam
flowing down the mountainside into a larger river
filling it with
fresh life
fresh nutrition
fresh energy
fresh strength

Mercy comes softly
like a fluffy snow on a windless day
covering the earth all around us
cleaning all it falls upon
making it look fresh
unblemished
new
beautiful

Mercy some softly into our lives
Every minute of every day
Never leaving us helpless and alone
Guiding us
Shaping us
Protecting us
Providing for us

Don’t miss it
Treasure it
Recognize it when it comes
Give thanks to God
Lift up His name
He will lift you up and out
Of any trial
Any test
Any temptation
Because in the blink of an eye
When you list expect it
But most need it
His mercy will come
Softly

Great God Almighty

I will praise God the Father, great things He has done
He has given us a Savior. He has given us His son
Who died for our sins and then He rose again,
Sent the Holy Spirit to guide us to His love

Great God Almighty how I love Him
He came to us a lowly child
Born of a virgin in a stable
Lived life as one whose meek and mild

He walked upon this earth healing sickness
Opened blinded eyes so they could see
Taught us about a loving Father
Who always cared for you and me

He walked this earth to show His power
Great things He did and always good
But those in authority distained Him
His mission they had misunderstood

They whipped him and spit on Him in hatred
They put a crown of thorns upon His head
They nailed Him to a cross and crucified Him
Left Him to hang ‘til He was dead

Some friends laid Him in a borrowed tomb
Rolling a stone across the door
The people all thought that it was over
They would not gear from Him anymore

Three days went by
Three days went by
The stone rolled back
He rose alive.
Out of the tomb
Out of the grave
He is alive
He is alive
He is alive
So we can live
Forevermore
To spread His love

I will praise God the Father, great things He has done
He has given us a Savior. He has given us His son
Who died for our sins and then He rise again,
Sent the Holy Spirit to guide us to His love

The Feast

Come to the feast prepared for you
Come to the feast He calls to you
The table is spread with wonders brand new
Come to the feast prepared for you

It's a feast if grace, new everyday
A feast or grace for you to share
Don't keep this grace all to yourself
Give freely to those in heed of help

It's a feast of mercy poured out to you
Mercy that will bring you through
Take and eat of His mercy free
Than give to others as He gave to thee

It's a feast that fills you up with peace
A peace that calms your troubled seas
Spread this peace throughout your world
This feast of peace comes through your words

It's a feast of joy, unspeakably there
Joy you can take with you anywhere
This world needs such joy every day
Take it and share it in all your ways

It's a feast of hope for those who are lost
They all need to know that He paid the cost
The hope He can bring to a restless soul
Is enough to help them not mot feel alone

It's a feast of love poured out for all
When He spread out His arms on that cross eead
Providing a way for salvation to come
Preparing this feast for everyone

Come to the feast. Fill yourself up
Then take it to others. There's more than enough
This feast has been spread for all to enjoy
He only needs you to open the door

The door to the feast goes through the cross
He stands at the door and continues to knock
Open the door. Let the Savior in
Come to the feast as you let Jesus in

Hell

Bright sunshine blisters the evening shy
As temperatures soar higher than high
Humidity drops and no rain in sight
And I start to wonder what hell will be like

The Bible says the lake of fire will be
Our fierce abode for eternity
They'll be no respite from all of heat
Hotter then hot there will be no sleep

We'll search but nowhere will water be found
As ants and worms come up from the ground
Our bodies they'll cover like they were ground
They'll feast on our flesh but we'll still be around

No death will help us escape this place
No way will there be to find an escape
There'll be no more pardon, no mercy, no grace
We'll be forever in this lonely space

Your only chance to avoid this fate
Is to trust in Jesus before its too late
Repent of your subs and call in His name
Then you will find that you have been saved

Our Offering

His Yoke is easy and His burden is light
He gives joy in the morning and dries tears at night
In our spirit and soul His love shines bright
He’s been so good to me

This yoke is meant to tie us together
So that we will walk step by step
I’m glad that my Lord is stronger than I
When I wander He pulls me back

When I walk step by step with Him
I will always be safe and secure
He’ll guide me to good things each time
Of this I can be very sure

The burden I bear for Him is light
And he wants me to give it away
Each time I spread His great love
It comes back and fills me again

This mercy I carry is pure
It’s a blessing that I must give
His grace is a burden I long for
Because this world needs to know He forgives

His yoke is easy and His burden is light
Compared to what He bore for me
His yoke was a cross and His burden was sin
When He sacrifice His life for me

The lest I can do is help Him’
Spread the message he came to bring
All can be saved, all can be healed
Because he was our offering.
