Ease Your Load

The anger I had when I was young
Was nasty and bitter and mean
I’d lash out with words that hurt and bebased
And often I’d say things obscene

Then one day I figured out how wrong I’d been
It’s a day I will never forget
My friend over years did provoke me to change
So I made a move I don’t regret

I asked Jesus to come change my life for the good
I made Him my Savior and Lord
Now my words show His mercy as blessings they give
To all who like kind gentle words

Do you need a change in your life today
Is your anger out of control
Jesus loves you and will answer your call
His blessings will ease your load

What a Thrill

When I learned about His mercy
And His wondrous love for me
I could not hold my praises
They came rushing out of me

I shouted hallelujah
When I settled in His peace
My heart was full of worship
With a sound that would not cease

Make a joyful noise
Shout for victory
Jesus Christ is Lord
He has set me free

Now my hope endures forever
I cam trust His saving grace
I can’t wait to get to heaven
Then I’ll look upon His face

Make a joyful noise
Shout for victory
Jesus Christ is Lord
He has set me free

What a day that will be
What a thrill that I shall see
My Savior and my Lord
Jesus Christ

Make a joyful noise
Shout for victory
Jesus Christ is Lord
He has set me free

Loops, Groups or Cute?

I remember when my kids were young
As they drew they would stick out their tongue
It would waggle and squirm
As the each took a turn
To drag different colors along

One of them scribbled in groups
Another just made little loops
The third one would move
The pencils so smooth
They’d meander so it looked cute

Our lives can are much the same
In groups or in loops or quite tame
But with Jesus along
My heart sings a song
I’ll never meander again

A Better Way

I’d been a mess most of my life
From high school on I caused much strife
My mouth was harsh with nasty words
My actions full of devilish works

I ran into a childhood friend
Who told that my life could mend
He said that Jesus loved me so
I doubted all the words he spoke

I went to visit him one day
Convinced there was a better way
I bowed my head and softly prayed
Then suddenly by life was changed

If you are headed down a road
That seems to leave you with a load
Cast all your cares on Christ today
He’ll  show you that better way.

Things We Shunned

Give a little
Take a little
That’s the world today
Wrong is right
Right is wrong
You must all now obey

The problem is
The things we give
Are lifestyles from the past
Replacing them
With things we shunned
Our moral code has lapsed

When Jesus walked
Upon this earth
He was uncompromising
He told the truth
About God’s love
His word is justifying

The church are those
Who call Him Lord
The live in righteousness
Keep following
The word of God
His moral code is best

Fact Check

We hear speeches every day
Asking us to not be swayed
By someone who finds a way
To make a better life

Solemnly their plans they teach
Hoping we will hear their speech
Promising the best for each
End to all our strife

The next day people start to doubt
Fact checks show what their about
Good ideas are all thrown out
Thinking they are lies

In the end one truth will stand
Above all else throughout the land
Jesus died and rose again
His kingdom never dies

If you seek the truth today
Come to Jesus kneel and pray
He’s the truth the life the way
He will give you life

Close Call

The icy ponds greeted us out in the field
On a cold winter morning one day
My friend and I ventured out onto the ice
Then we got an idea for play

Let’s see how big a hole we can make
By throwing these rocks where it’s thawed
One by one we threw stones at the water that showed
It’s resistance held us in great awe

I finally decided to grab a big rock
I walked out to break up a chunk
But under me was a soft spot I’d say
And into the water I sunk

My friend looked in panic as I went down twice
Then he grabbed a big tree by the pond
He laid on the ice and stretched out the branch
I grabbed it the third time down

He pulled me out by that branch that day
There’s no doubt he saved my life
We hurried on back through the field to his house
Where we warmed ourselves huddled inside

Through sixty years we two are still friends
We still fondly remember that day
Later on He led me to Jesus my Lord
What a friend He has been all the way
