The crowd arrived to mock Him
The trial was a farce
Convicted as a heretic
Condemned to death by cross
Scorned and battered senseless
Thorns upon His brow
Nails pierced through His feet and hands
To the ground blood flowed
Forgive them was His final plea
As darkness filled the day
He cried out it is finished
Then gave His life away
Once upon the cross
He gave His life for me
All my sin He took
So I could be set free
Oh the blessed mercy
Displayed for all to see
Amazing grace of Jesus
Amazing love for me
They laid Him in a borrowed tomb
They sealed it extra tight
Roman soldiers guarded for three days
All through the lonely nights
The stone then rolled away
The guards fainted in fright
From the grave He rose alive
Sometime in the night
The morning dawned the third day
The women came anointing
He has risen angels told them
They went away rejoicing
Once upon the cross
He gave His life for me
All my sin He took
So I could be set free
Oh the blessed mercy
Displayed for all to see
Amazing grace of Jesus
Amazing love for me
All because He gave His life
Once upon the cross
