I come to you with lifted hands
And with my voice sing grateful praise
For all that have done
Through Christ your risen Son

God of ages it’s my plea
To come to know you passionately
With appreciation your love
Through the worship of my heart

Hallelujah I sing with all my soul

And I greatly rejoice
For all you’ve done for me

Quite Insurmountable

The legend of Yeti is quite insurmountable
He’s known as a snowman who’s quite abominable
Fiction as fact and mostly not affable
He lives in the lore of old times

But one much older than him is not so abominable
And the deeds he has down are quite insurmountable
Or God in heaven is always most affable
And I love to give him my time

I talk to Him in my prayers every day
I talk to Him when I praise Him always
I sing my songs to His wonderful name
For He is the author of time

Let us forget the myth that takes up our time
And think on the one who gives us our time
He loves to be with us and near us at all times
Give Him everything that you are

These days of summer seem so long
The sun just seems to linger on
And when the final rays are gone
I lay my head to rest

When I awake to skies so hazy
I think the day will turn out lazy
To try and work outside is crazy
So I sit in my house

But in those times when body rests
My mind will try to pass the test
Being turned to God is best
To grow in Him each day

So even when my body rests
My Spirit will rejoice
For this is time that I can spend
In praise with lifted voice

Jesus Life

Who Do You Trust?

Some say Superman, Batman and Flash
Will go on forever and ever
Some think that Buddha and Allah and Zen
Are bound to die out never

Some think their various sports stars
Have legacies that will endure
Some think that actors in block buster film
Are enshrined in eternal grandeur

But only our God is immortal
Only our God will be here forever
Only our God can stand by our side
Until the end of time

So don;t place your trust in super heroes
Don’t place your trust in those gods without power
Don’t place your trust in sports and film
Place your trust in the God who placed the stars

Quite a Ride

I’d love to go on a safari
In darkest Africa
Where animals roam the plains
And the night really shows the stars

I’d see lions and tigers and antelopes
Running around with glee
I’d see many birds I can’t name
And chimpanzees up in the trees

I’d really look for this one breed
Called the hippopotamus
In the midst of all these big animals
I’d remain equanimous

And the reason my peace would remain
Is because it is deep inside
Jesus will calm all my fears
And the trip will be quite a ride

Bandit is His Name

We’re getting a puppy on Monday
It has been decades without
He’s really quite small
A lap dog after all
We’re starting to ready the house

There’s one thing that makes my uneasy
And makes my stomach quite quesy
I’ll be the one
To train our cute friend
I hope it’s heuristic and easy

Right Choices

I’ve had my ups and downs in life
As I’m sure most of us have
We go through times that try our hearts
And times that make us glad

In all these times throughout my life
I tried to trust my heart
But I found that way to often
That’s a bad place to start

When I make a decision on feelings
I can easily go astray
A bad choice will be concomitant
Because my logical mind is at bay

And even when trusting in logic
I can wander off the right path
So how do I make the right choices
If my heart and my mind will choose bad

I trust in the Lord with all my heart
And don’t lean to my own understanding
In all my ways I acknowledge Him
And He directs my path

Homesick

I remember days from long ago when life was but a high
We traveled in my little car across the countryside
There was no destination as we went on this long ride
We just enjoyed the scenery especially in fall

New England is a gorgeous place when autumn comes about
The leaves turn brilliant colors that always gave my heart a shout
Whenever autumn comes each year I look with suspect doubt
That the colors here in Iowa are redolent at all

God’s canvas is a mighty thing each day I look around
From sunrises to sunsets He fails not to astound
But in the autumn colors I’m set on higher ground
Their brilliance in New England makes me homesick every fall

The Real Deal

My way is better than yours
Said the tortoise to the hare
You may be faster and stronger then I
But I will still beat you there

The hare laughed a thunderous roar
He said not a chance you will win
Then he bet all he had including his home
Because He was so sure within

We all know the outcome that day
The hare’s supercilious way
Cost him all that he had because of his pride
Now he doesn’t know what to say

I’ve been there and know how he feels
Pride can make all of us reel
So never allow your pride to rise up
Just try to be the real deal

Something From Nothing?

In so mant ways
This world does amaze
With colors and sounds and attractions
It just seems to me
To be but a dream
That this all could randomly happen

People will shuffle
And cause a kerfuffle
To try and say God was not planning
But everyone knows
If the truth would be told
That something can’t come out of nothing
