Just before the dawn
All is quiet and calm
I sit and think 
About the things
That God has done for me

He has saved me from the depths of sin
Given me new life within
Washed my sins as white as snow
Buried my shame below
Sanctified me, made me whole
Oh what an awesome God I serve

Just before the dawn
Before my clocks alarms
I can't believe
The strength I feel
Knowing God is here

He holds me in His loving arms
Keeps me safe from all concerns
Gives me health when my strength wanes
Never leaves me with my pains
Hears my every thought and prayer
Oh what an awesome God I serve

Just before the dawn
I sit here and I yawn
I know He's here
He hears my prayer
And answers every time

The Gift of Prayer

As I gaze at the sliver of moon in the sky
And feel the dew under my feet
My mind goes to you in the silence of dawn
All I want is to hear you speak

Oh God, I open my heart up to you
My prayer ascends up to your throne
But it's not the words I speak that matter the most
I must listen for your voice alone

What a precious thing is the gift of prayer
What a mystery vast and wide
I can come to the King of all Kings each day 
He will hear every word that I cry

Then His voice will speak gently with calm and grace
He will give me the words of life 
So, I pray in the silence of morning dew
Because only here will I survive

Piercing through the night
Bringing on the day
Darkness fades away
Glorious in splendor
Brining sighs of wonder
Oh how I await
That first assuring ray

A single ray of light
Giving me my sight
God’s own holy word
Piercing like a sword
My soul is cleansed each day
His word provides the way
Let it shine so bright
That single ray of light

Oh Lord I need the light
It brings me pure delight
To read the truth each day
To follow in your ways
Please burn within my heart
That each day I will start
By bringing into sight
A single ray of light
